usually we would advise customers to prepare a switch to turn on/off the pump from downstairs but prepare a socket point at the top. So, when the person who install the pump or dismantle it next time, can just easily plug or unplug the wire. Grundfos pump comes with a socket.

1) If ur tank is near to your roof, u can install the pump under ur roof.

2) You need to get ur contractor to do a shelter or buy a box to cover your pump.

If new house 95% no problem but for old house u will need to check first as some of them use metal piping which will rust and could not withstand high pressure.

About the official installer for grundfos being irresponsible, he did not run the piping for ur whole house, he only install the pump for u. So, if there is leakage, it is not his fault and duty to rectify the problem.

What u can do now is get a good plumber to check where is the leak and to rectify it. U have this problem either they are using metal pipes or the previous plumber who installed the piping did not connect the pipes properly.

actually, it is the responsibility of the grundfos dealer to explain it to u before u purchase the pump. When forumers PM me that they wanna install a pump for their old house, i do inform them about the risk before buying.
Did u tell the shop ur house is 9 years d?

Btw, if u did do some research online or read though this thread, there is a forumer who has the same problem as u but not as serious as urs.

FYI, it is impossible for plumbers to check whether the pipes could withstand the pump's pressure as the pipes are concealed.

if it is a new house, and it burst, u can get the developer to rectify it. It is consider as their defect.

There is no way to check ur piping.

if the pump got function to adjust the pressure level...will be good ..

Actually Grundfos do have a model that can control pressure. It is called Grundfos UNI E series.
This pump is like a mini system pump, it has a control panel that will adjust the water pressure level according to the preset level. Originally it is set to run at 2.5bar but you can adjust it to 2 - 3.5bar.

How this pump works?
The control panel controls the speed of the pump, if one person turns on the tap, it will run slowly, when another person turns on the tap, the pump will operates faster. Therefore, you will have constant pressure all the time.

A normal pump like the CH models will operate at maximum speed when someone turns on the tap, when another person turns on the tap, the pressure will drop a little.

I m using hitachi pump, very noisy and also the pressure drops a lot when another person turn on the tap. Gonna move in to my new house soon and my contractor recommended Grundfos. Will grundfos have the same problem? any member can share their experience?

You can go for Grundfos CH2-50PC, it is sufficient to supply strong water pressure for 4-5 bathrooms at the same time. Grundfos is durable and silent.

You can get my promotion Grundfos CH2-50PC + Perfect Steel 10" Stainless steel filter = RM 2,250 without installation.

If u r looking for the best model, you can go for UNI E 4-50, it comes with a control panel, can control the speed of the pump. If u turn on the tap, the pump will start slow, then another person turn on the tap, the pump will move faster. Therefore, you will have constant water pressure and it will not give much pressure to your piping.

FYI, if u r getting stiebel, you will need to run hot water piping just like storage heater. However, if u r installing a water pump like GRUNDFOS, stiebel is not sufficient to supply hot water. I tested it and the performance is not that good. A storage heater is always a better choice unless u do not have space to install it. For landed property, if u r going to renovate a few bathrooms to have rain shower system and to have storage heaters, it would b better to get a SOLAR WATER heater.

If u ask contractors and friends, "Which is the best water pump?", 90% of them will tell you "Grundfos". So, you went out to survey and ask salesmen, "I am looking for Grundfos", most probably they will introduce you EP230PC. However, please be careful as EP230PC is GEMINI and not Grundfos. Gemini is a company bought over by Grundfos. This is to cater the need for those with lower budget.

As Grundfos's impellers are made of stainless steel, the pump is quieter, less vibration and more durable. Hence, the price is more expensive compared to Gemini which are made of composite material (plastic). If you wanna know more, just drop by my showroom in Kepong.

I was looking for a solution to a stable water pressure all around the house and stumbled upon the Grundfos water pump. Since I'm mowving to a new house (bought subsale of a 10 year old house) and changing all the pipes in the house, hence I might try this Grundfos pump as I read somewhere that the pipes might not be able to take the increased pressure.

Where I'm staying the mains pressure is good but the tank pressure not so. Have already done the mains bypass with non return valve, it gave good pressure all around initially but after a while it didn't have the same effect.

Hence I decided to try the Grundfos pump and hopefully will see the expected results soon. House undergoing reno atm.

Zhellwane - It was nice to meet you and thank you for the explanation on lots of things, Grundfos pump included. The mrs went gaga over the selection available. Will be dropping back to get some more stuff soon as the reno progresses.

Thanks bro. It is true that, installing a water pump is the best choice as modifying the piping will not give you the performance as good as a water pump. If u r using main water, imagine u are taking a shower, someone turns on the tap at the kitchen, your water pressure will drop a lot and the water will suddenly become hot. Even your neighbors turn on their taps, it will also affect your water pressure. If you are using a pump, you will not have this problem.

Many of my customers wasted Rm 300-400 on modifying their pipes but end up getting a water pump. However, there are many pumps in the market and GRUNDFOS is among the best, powerful, durable and silent.

noise is the vibration noise of your pump. To reduce the noise, you can add an anti-vibration pad.

Hi,
I would like to share my experience on purchasing a water pump (Grundfos).I am renovating my bathroom along the way there was a need to install a water pump to boost the pressure for my rain shower.I looked for information regarding water pumps and learned that Grundfos was the best available. So I went around to a few of dealers to see the pump and understand the mechanism etc. However, the sales person in all the shops I went to kept on saying "Don't ask why (Grundfos);just buy!!!) and I was not given the proper explanation. So I surfed the net and found out thru this forum all the details and questions regarding the pump that have been lingering in my mind.I contacted Zean who gave me a very detailed explanation on the workings of the pump as well as the installation. He even had a demo unit which actually said it all.I was very pleased to deal with him as he was confident and sure with the product. Therefore,I would like to advise all those who wish to purchase a domestic water pump..."Go see Zean and he'll tell you why (Grundfos)".I am now a proud owner/user of Grundfos CH 2-50 PC.Thank you Zean!!!
*
Thanks bro. Grundfos is memang the best water pump, when u r doing reno make sure to get the right stuff, do it properly one time. May b next time can quote my nickname zheilwane instead of zean as some customers might b wondering who is zean haha

Most of the water equipment like shower head etc have a min pressure requirement to function. And max pressure too before damage or burst your pipe. Or buying unneccessary pump to boost just base on the individual feeling that the water pressure is low. I think suppose to have a general guide water pressure for the house which people can measure about.
*
Have seen u commenting a lot in reno thread, r u still renovating ur house? Pipes will not burst, if u got the right person to do your plumbing work, there is no way pipes will burst. For landed properties with 4-5 bathrooms the best pump to get is Grundfos CH2-50PC. Landed property will definitely have weak water pressure as the water flow down from the tank which is 1-2 story above your bathrooms, the gravity pressure is weak. Condo on the other hand have strong pressure bcoz the water tank is like 5-10 floors above your unit (depending which floor u r at), so the gravity pressure is strong and you will have strong water pressure.
