Hi, girls. I'm not that very in-tune with the fashion world, so I'm not sure exactly how does this brand stand among the other brands? Is it better than Coach, not as good LV, Burberry...or what's the general perception like when it comes to Longchamp?
Worth buying, or I should spend on others at the same price, etc.

Would be good to hear from you ladies, thanks! smile.gif

never heard of that brand, therefore it's definitely not on par with Coach in my book. LV is the A-list, Burberry somewhere around the Coach level too. Trust me, my mom is very brand-conscious, and if I've never heard of Longchamp, that means she doesn't buy

Longchamp is definitely not on par with Coach
is actually quite nice but i thought is a bit expensive
with that kind of price i would rather go for other brandnames
apart from getting brandnames like burberry, Coach or LV (since they are definitely of higher level), i would suggest buy something that you like as in the design you prefer rather than looking at the brandnames

It's surprising you girls have never heard of it.

Longchamp is just as expensive as Coach, if not more expensive. The only exception is the above bags. Le-pliage, now the most popular design coming from rural china (fakes).

Longchamp was made famous with the above bag.
Before that, not many people know about it. And now almost everyone on the street is carrying that bag. There are lots of imitation of that particular bag and lots of other companies coming up with such bag which is almost the same.

However, I find that it's still cheaper than coach. Not on par with Burberry, LV or Gucci. In France, you can get that longchamp bag for like rm400 or so only.

It's actually quite a practical bag, waterproof somemore. But then, I don't want to be seen carrying a bag that everyone has.

Not worth the price for the quality you're getting. If you're gonna spend a large amount of money on a bag, do it for the quality, not the brand. Go for something made of leather.

I think in terms of price, LV is the highest.
in Paris, they only allow two pieces per customer.

as for coach, it's a good brand and they sell pretty things ... but it's just not on par with the likes of LV. Americans love Coach though, I don't know why lol. I think LV is ugly as f***, but my mom loves it.

i also don't like the idea of carrying a bag that everyone has.
but Malaysia do have a lot of imitation bags around

since i can't really afford a branded bag
so most of the time i would just choose design that i like
but recently i have been paying more attention on the quality too laugh.gif
i always keep it simple (as in the design) but quality must be good
anyway not many people in Malaysia knows which is the real one and which is imitation one
so just buy what you like
but definitely a no no to imitation or fake goods shakehead.gif

ya.HERMES bag cn cost more than 100k.for example...one of victorian beckham's birkin wif a diamand charm+_+
well...LV consider cheap compare wif hermes n chanel cn cost higher than LV some time depend on which model of the LV bag is.

amy@ no girl like to carry same bag wif others ^^

but definitely LV hav the best quality for their leather.
was thinking to get a personalized speedy 30 a.k.a. mon monogram.anyone know how long will it take for the order to reach?

I would say because Coach was founded in America so they know what the Americans like? Haha.
I like some of Coach's designs but some are really not that nice. And more and more people are carrying Coach here nowadays. I heard in Australia, they never heard of this brand before also.

I don't like LV as well. To me, most suitable for older women.

Wah, thanks girls...so many replies already!

Yeah, I have the same feeling too...I think Longchamp is one of the more affordable European brands, but I don't think it's that great though. Now that I've gotten the responses here, even more so I don't think I'll like it.

I realised that I don't like Dior and Celine eventhough they're luxury brands...maybe cuz the designs are not so outstanding?
I think we're in some ways suckers for classic LVs, Guccis and Burberrys...so we are not so open to others as much.
On a side note, I think Gucci's getthing boring whistling.gif

Btw, I think Burberry's not as lower grade as some said it...their stuffs are pretty as expensive as Gucci and LV too sweat.gif

Having said all that, it's also true that we should get bags that we're happy with on the design, quality, etc. and it doesn't need to be branded =)

yes, i didn't know that people in Malaysia thinks that burberry is of lower grade than LV and Gucci
anyway, i like burberry's design much more than LV or Gucci
LV is kind of too mature for me

Hi,
It's not true that LV bags are the most expensive. I believe the top of range bag is probably the Hermes Birkin.

I find LV bags too common these days; rather carry my D&G bag instead tongue.gif But I also notice Gucci's becoming v common too. Coach pulak, tak payah cakap lah

well then I'm mistaken about LV vs Hermes ... but either way, I don't see what the point of carrying such brand names around is since it only serves (in my opinion) to advertise the fact that you have a lot of money.

It's like waving a banner that says COME ROB ME

Agree, unless the bag is limited edition, I will buy.
No point buying something expensive where some other ppl is holding it as well.

My friends have this bags and they really like it but for me it is a plain bag that anyone make. I think it is expensive because of how it became popular. Don't get me wrong this is just my own preference. There are a lot more plain bags that are really nice.

Longchamp bags can be customized. Thats one of their selling points. Material feels like nylon to me, but meh, im a guy so dont bash me please =)

And from a guy's point of view, LV is getting...should I say common.

Maybe you'll like Aigner

Can't deny that Hermes will be at the top of the luxury bags when it comes to this.
But I don't like the style and wouldn't get one even if I had the money.

Like spunkberry said, it would be inviting people to come rob us.

Yeah, showing the social status is prolly that main driving factor in getting them. Good design is secondary, really, lol...it just helps to make it easier to decide on getting the bags.

I guess some other brands are not so obviously popular despite having the heavy price tag cuz not many people can recognise the designs (aside that it's not affordable tongue.gif), so those who wants to show off, often will opt for the classic luxury brands that everyone can identify the moment they see it.

In Europe Longchamp is a Luxury Brand, now revived by Kate Moss.
In US Coach is a departmental store brand. Now all Coachs r made in China.

Longchamp r very pricey, La Pliage is an affordable range for the masses.
If u go to Paris in Spring, u will see so many ppl. carrying La Pliage. The colorfull bags make it like looking @ a sea of rainbow.

i agree with you...

it is actually not fair to compare them with different ranges of products... how can you compare the cheapest range from longchamp with the highest range in hermes? it's an appropriate comparison i would say...

longchamp la pliage is cheap is because it is not even leather, where you compare hermes birkin that probably made out of crocodile skin PLUS diamonds... how to compare like that? longchamp has expensive LEATHER products too...

also, if you are talking about LV about the most common MONOGRAM CANVAS, then sadly but true that it is not made out of leather, but CANVAS...

you also cant compare bags with DIAMONDS lar, RUBY lar, SHARK SKIN lar, OSTRICH lar with just an ordinary bag...

This is very strange.. none of you ladies really interested in Dior and Chanel? Prada? Fendi? Maybe a little D&G?

It seems extremely strange to me, but it seems Malaysian ladies will only settle for these staples

1. LV
2. Coach
3. Burberry

Don't you feel that you want something new? It puzzles me so..

i think the reason being is our ladiess here are young... LV, COACH and BURBERRY bags are toward younger designs and new designs... where DIOR PRADA AND FENDI their designs are more boring and i would say that they are not so affordable than the 3 above... a very simple one can cost RM5k+ while the 3 brands above can get at RM2k+... where D&G is sort of a departmental store brand where it is not so a luxury brand...

Sure mou? Dolce and Gabbana leh missy. In the whole united states of america, there are only 6 boutiques there.

* New York City, New York
* Beverly Hills, California
* Las Vegas, Nevada
* Americana Manhasset on Long Island, New York
* Bal Harbour Shops in Bal Harbour, Florida
* The Mall at Short Hills in Short Hills, New Jersey

You sure you're not mistaking it for another brand? They have the most number of designers working on their clothing and bags, among the high end brands. Maybe we're not exposed to D&G. The cheapest men's stuff is a plain white t-shirt @ RM600 sad.gif I was stunned when someone told me that...

@ Carmen,

That's true. So true.

But I won't generalize. Some girls I see, know how to wear a rather tacky LV, while looking glamorous and normal.

The rest look extremely thrashy, and the monograms add to the thrashiness.

EH whoops? i think i mistaken it as DKNY?

Added on April 24, 2011, 11:10 pmi think when i think of D&G, i dont remember them having any bag... i only remember their suits... maybe they are not famous in their bags?

Added on April 24, 2011, 11:14 pmfor example... when you think of... jeans, you think of levis, you dont think of D&G... although they have jeans too!! or when you think of sneakers, you would probably be thinking of nike/adidas, and you wont think of coach, although they have some too...

u forgot Gucci. But it's ironic when people buy these branded bags and don't even know how to pronounce their name. lol

EH whoops? i think i mistaken it as DKNY?

Added on April 24, 2011, 11:10 pmi think when i think of D&G, i dont remember them having any bag... i only remember their suits... maybe they are not famous in their bags?

Added on April 24, 2011, 11:14 pmfor example... when you think of... jeans, you think of levis, you dont think of D&G... although they have jeans too!! or when you think of sneakers, you would probably be thinking of nike/adidas, and you wont think of coach, although they have some too...
*
Haha, yeah, you must've been thinking DKNY.

Well, I guess if they don't even have outlets here, nobody would even know they existed.

Yup, Gucci as well. Yeah, well, then you can laugh at them and say "No its not lou-wees vuitten... its freakin loowee voo-ton!"

I love Prada bags, but it's too expensive. tongue.gif
Dior, Chanel and D&G are also way out of my budget. But I would definitely get them one day in the future.

I don't know why other ladies will settle for those few brands only though. I don't like LV or Burberry at all.

Went to UK + Europe last 2 years, too bad with parents, so can't really spend much. Or else I'll have to listen to them nag for the whole month there. Spoil the holiday only.

I'll make my bf bring me to Paris in the future. brows.gif

I wouldn't buy a Les Pliage personally (too many people have them, and I'm not a fan anyway), but some other bag from Longchamp, preferably one made of dead animal.

I wouldn't buy Longchamp too. It is overated here in Malaysia. In Paris, the Les Pliage is like their laundry bag only. sweat.gif

Longchamp is convenient to use, waterproof and price wise is affordable. Currently I'm using one which is limited edition and bought from Korea. Satisfied with the material wise and very handy. If compare to higher brand like Gucci Prada Chanel,of cuz totally different channel already. wink.gif smile.gif

Longchamp is one of the few famous brand from Paris. The canvas/fabric type is cheap, try the lambskin or calf leather. One thing good about their full leather goods is that it is light weight........ disadvantage is that the bag will not stay in shape after couple of years..... hence is your prefer choice.

LV, Chanel, Loewe, bottega veneta and Hermes all this brand in on the upper market compared to Coach, Longchamp, Gucci, Ferragamo. Frankly speaking, if i were to rank it, Coach is the lowest..... American leather brand have a maximum level that they can climb.....forever cannot be higher than France Leather Bag....... lol ....... look at Michael Kors........

There is a saying:-
1) buy branded leather bag, must buy France branded bag
2) buy branded leather shoe, must buy Italy branded shoe
3.) buy branded watch, must buy Swiss branded watch
4.) buy branded car, must buy German branded car

Longchamp was made famous with the above bag.
Before that, not many people know about it. And now almost everyone on the street is carrying that bag. There are lots of imitation of that particular bag and lots of other companies coming up with such bag which is almost the same.

However, I find that it's still cheaper than coach. Not on par with Burberry, LV or Gucci. In France, you can get that longchamp bag for like rm400 or so only.

It's actually quite a practical bag, waterproof somemore. But then, I don't want to be seen carrying a bag that everyone has.

can get in Barcelona for around RM290 - 320 in fact.
