Congratulations on saving RM100 per year

Can we do CC termination over the phone for
1. SCB CC
2. Maybank CC
*
For SCB CC, I terminated using email function from inside the Internet banking. Just tell tell them your intention and the response is pretty fast.

QUOTE(Gen-X @ Mar 1 2011, 02:33 PM)
OCBC should counter MBB Dua by reverting back to their earlier promotion where the cash rebate was capped at RM120, or offer max rebate RM100 where it is cap at RM50 each for the 5% and 1% cash back. This would wipe out Citi Cash Back Plat, HLB Essential & Fortune credit card and make OCBC talk of the town again. OCBC marketing - hope you guys reading this smile.gif
*
This card is useless once you hit the cap. No reward points as well. How I wish Gen-X is the current Marketing Director in OCBC? wink.gif

Today, I called up OCBC CS to change my statement billing cycle. At the same time, I also asked about the RM50/month cash back cap. I was informed the "month" is based on our statement date, NOT calendar date.
Please take note.

Got a SMS from Maybankcard informing me about my application has been approved. Surprisingly, I haven't officially submitted any application. I think it's a pre-approved card.

I found out from CS, MB offered me MB2 Gold card. The CL is not attractive, is just 3K more than my current MB Classic card. I think they used my old income record.

If I do not activate the pre-approved card, will MB still charge me the GST?

I am more interested in Platinum. Or, should I just accept it and then apply for MB2 Platinum Master when it is available in April? If I manage to get hold of both cards, that means I can enjoy the max rebate of RM100 (RM50 X 2).

What's your advise?

if u did not apply, you can request to cancel and no GST should be charge
if you can max the RM100 from 2 sets of M2, then go ahead, only you knew whether you can do it

can you post the content of the sms, kinda curious, thx

I just recalled that I have clicked on the MB2 website that I am interested. But, that is not the application process.
Beside that, I am current MB credit cardholder.

I only needed to email them last time to remove my previous MC. After the email, took them about a few weeks to remove the entries.

Is it matter to let it appear in MB2U even though the card had been terminated? My MB2U account still showing the card. I terminated it at the bank branch.

Stupid MBB.
I applied Platinum MBB 2 cards. There approved Gold card for me only. My monthly salary not >5k but my annual is more than 60k.
Fine, if they give me Gold Card. But my CL still 7k. Because my old MBB petronas gold is 7k CL only. WTF, i submitted all my payslip and they never bother to increase my CL. What for i am holding 3 cards but CL only 7k? Pay my insurance already over 7k. MBB is really sucks. Very angry now and thinking to cancel MBB 2 cards even though i havent receive the cards
*
I got 3K increment only in CL with MB2 Gold approval (without applying it). Mind you, I have been MB cardholder for more than 10 years. It still can't match the generous CL adjustment for my Citibank card, which I have been using more than 10 years.

CT is more generous whereas MB is very kedekut. Among the cards that I am holding now, MBB gives the lowest CL.

Are you an existing SCB credit cardholder before applying the Biz Visa? How come you can still get the cash back?
If like that, I also want to apply for it.

In my decades of card usage with SCB, had never paid a single cent in annual fees or service charge, so I guess it ultimately boils down to your spending with them  thumbup.gif
*
What I don't like about SCB card is the points are not evergreen. There are times that I prefer to accumulate enough points to redeem something that I really fancy instead of redeeming for the sake of not losing the points.

true, maybe will take your advise. No no no, must take your advise, free money.
Not the case if you have MBB Visa or MasterCard  tongue.gif Better still if got MBB Platinum Visa/MC.
SCB VI annual fee auto waive if don't spend a single sen with the card? If not, can use the annual fee and also higher interest from other banks' FD promotion rates to go buy stuff.
*
Annual fee is free for the first 2 years for new SCB credit card application.

This is the reply that I got fro SCB CS.

"Annual fee waivers are granted upon request. The decision of the waiver is upon the customers usage of the card."

During their promotion in 2009, I managed to get 2 SCB cards - Master & Visa, and received cash back for both cards. Then, before 1 year anniversary, I terminated one of the card. No question asked.

Just asking anyone has this experience ...

I'm attempting to do a hotel booking via Agoda and at the payment page, I'm presented with 2 options. The site asked me whether I wish to be billed in RM or in USD.

Will I be charged the overseas transaction rate if I choose RM ? (Agoda is not based in Malaysia)
*
You set the currency to Malaysian Ringgit at the result page from the search. If I remember it correctly, it billed in RM when I chose RM.

Im currently holding HSBC Visa Classic CC (my 1st CC which I've only use up to 1 year). HSBC just called me up offering me HSBC Master Gold MC, free annual fee for 1st year and free GST for 1st year, points can be transferred, shall I convert to HSBC Master CC?
*
Why not? It's FREE anyway. Unless you are worrying HSBC will con you. Can't blame you for being cautious because there are a lot of con men outside. smile.gif
