SCB Business Platinum Visa is worth considered to use at overseas too given its Triple Choice Pts & uncapped 0.5% cashback. The determining factor is its forex rate. If scb forex is 1.5% higher than Mbb Visa, the benefit of 3X Choice Pts will be useless in the end.
*
some previous posts points to SCB's forex rate to be as high as Amex. Maybe current users can confirm.

Just realized HSBC has changed their VISA Platinum to "Visa Signature".

user posted image

Can we apply CIMB VI with HSBC VS?  hmm.gif

Interestingly....

Earn 5X Reward Points and exquisite privileges home and abroad! Enjoy more rewards when you shop at selected nationwide shopping malls, departmental stores, supermarkets and for your dining and hotel spend overseas. This is on top of our exquisite HSBC VIP SmartPrivileges and Visa Premium Privileges, all with HSBC Visa Signature Card.

A reaction to Maybankard2?

Right now.. HSBC Visa Sig + OCBC Tit MC + M2 Amex looks like 3 cards that 1 can keep

Interesting indeed.
A quick glance at their redemption program could indicate some unattractiveness. (Using only Enrich points conversion as a benchmark)
HSBC is 7500 vs MBB 7000 to 1000 Enrich Points.

I'm slightly neutral on the 5x points coz the use the word "selected".

But yes ... I agree it is somehow appear to be a reaction to MBB2.
*
The 5x points is for all some spends local and overseas. 'Selected' is additional promotions at some places. Might be a good backup card for a maxed-out or non 5% location MC and non-Amex-accepting location.

Edit: damn ambiguous HSBC... where is your product disclosure sheet!?

Departmental Stores
Supermarkets

Overseas
Hotel
Dining

Alex.. your wish may come true yet....

I agree with hye. The word "selected" is some what a deal breaker compared to MBB2 Amex, but Amex still suffer in limited acceptableness by merchants compared Visa/Master if looking for 5x points or 5% rebate. In term of cash reward for the redemption i.e. for 5,000 points, HSBC is less attractive and more hassle compared to SCBMB, which is RM20 vs RM25 and required to "call in" to make redemption.
*
Hmm I just noticed the ambiguity between the description and the features.

This blows.. this is just like another Citibank Platinum ....

OCBC Titanium - 1% rebate (up to max of RM5K spending of non-5% category only)
MBB2 Amex - 2.5+% equivalent unlimited in points + 5% rebate if swipe on MY weekends (up to max of RM50/month)
MBB2 Visa - 1+% equivalent unlimited in points

Decide for yourself.
*
Not accurate.. MBB2 Visa is only abt 0.5% equivalent

QUOTE(Human Nature @ Apr 10 2011, 12:35 PM)
Hi, I have an outstanding balance of 1400 under my CIMB cc. I have received the monthly statement and it is due on next week. Checking from CimbClicks, today I received a refund of 1800 for a previous purchase (credited to my cc). My question is, can I choose not to settle the 1400 and let the 1800 contra it instead? Since the statement in already out, I am unsure whether this will work. Thanks.
*
Not sure for CIMB but for Maybank, refunds are considered like payments, so if it was a Maybank card, then the 1800 can contra.

Hi, the balance shown online is indeed negative with RM0 amount overdue. So this should be on the safe side. The thing that made me unsure at first was, when I clicked 'pay statement balance', the amount shown is still RM1400. Will see what happens a day after the due date. Thanks again.
*
statement balance only changes after the next statement, not after due date

NEW citiibank shell card launched

https://www.citibank.com.my/english/credit-...d.htm#promotion

the rebate is based on tier

1  300 - 999  4.0%  250
2  1000 - 2499  6.0%  500
3  Above 2500  8.0%  800
*
sounds like an answer to PBB-Esso+Mobil.

Note the tier calculation does not include petrol.

and the max rebate one will get according to tier is RM10, RM30 or RM64...

*oops.. I forgot to click reply...*

guys, is the Citi Plat Cashback CC any good to even compete with OCBC TMC & MBB Amex?? icon_question.gif
*
No. Only 5% petrol cash back is comparable. And it has 2% CB for pharmacies that OCBC TMC does not. But Amex is accepted there which is equivalent to 2.5% CB on non-weekends.

I think SCB Business Platinum is not a good Platinum Card anymore.

Used to offer 0.5% unlimited cashback but now only 0.3% cashback with RM100 capped.

Will consider cancelling this card when GST kicks in...
*
0.3% and capped at RM100.. even citibank cb plat is better than this tongue.gif

Added on May 5, 2011, 10:27 am

Isnt that what I just said? Meh...

Ehh, just to double confirm, our points are convertable to cash? Like AMEX?

Anyone know about the HSBC M-Power Visa Plat? Same too?
*
yeah no lounge access. Citibank CB plat is actually one of the poorest CB cards around (IMO). Currently even the Alliance plat cards are better than the SCB Business plat.

Was using the HSBC M-Power Visa Plat. 0.5% local 1% overseas rebate. Can't recall whether there was a cap, don't think so.

Cancelled it because although it was a HSBC card, it was not entitled to any HSBC promotions, Home & Away, Agoda discount etc.
