Since the old thread is dead already, and there are plenty of threads asking questions about UM from a simple search I've made in this EE section because there is no proper thread for this university, I've decided to come up with this thread.

U may post any questions or any problems here. And this includes everything about UM from the highest studies to Asasi Sains. Hopefully many good people from UM itself or EX-UM may contribute here.

U may also post any related news and share here if there are any interesting courses or events. I hope that everyone can participate and contribute here instead of creating new threads.

I'll update the thread from time to time to include any activities or latest news for everyone to read. Thanks!

yeah sure. thats what i have in mind too. for anyone after spm or matric or diploma. u guys are waiting for an offer to continue ur studies. come and shoot ur questions here. i know there are seniors from UM here lurking around. just ask and someone will definitely try to answer your questions.

of course there are few old buildings in there but all of them are still standing still. may i know why did u ask?

i would say that its sufficient. theres a big car park behind the building. near the cafeteria. but its shared between postgraduates, undergraduates and visitors though.

@ hidzwan : welcome! which batch were u from eh? 2006/07? which college did u stay during ur 1st year?

@ AnnaHui : wow the subjects sound interesting. so where did u do ur internship? did u get to work with any celebrities?

owh the same batch with izzul right. he was my room mate last time. err no i was from 10th college. what are you doing now? working where?

okay im not sure where's that. so what did u do during ur internship? did u like participate in drama or movie filming? and i was wondering, do these companies accept internship of students from not related disciplines? maybe there are juniors out there who would like to gain some experience in this area but they are not in the related disciplines.

haha we have something in common though. i am from PASUM batch 06 and from Computer Science degree. so i assume u were in the physical science right? hows Mr Zahurin doing? he used to call himself hokage lol. is he still teaching there?

the minimum pointer to enroll for computer science is 2.50 during my time. but at the moment, its 2.33 from the pdf provided here http://um.edu.my/doc/File/underg/matrik.pdf



and about the environment and the studies, imma sound butthurt but if u want ur life to be easier, just go with the majoring in MIS. the other majors will make your life crazy trust me.

can u be more specific about ur question "and how's the study in faculty of comp science?" as in what context that u want to know so that its easier for me to try to help u

MIS is Management in Information System. There are few MIS grads lurking around here so i cant comment much later they all will shoot me

since u've been exposed to the university life when u were in PASUM compared to the matriculation students, so i guess theres not much difference then. the only thing that u need to concentrate on is the programming studies obviously. the faculty is using JAVA for basic programming and OOP so u may try to read up abit about it and see if its within ur interest.

the subject evaluation mark is divided into 50-50 for most of the subjects. 50 for course mark and 50 for the final exam. for the course mark, its usually consists of tutorials, group projects and mid term exam. the passing mark is grade C which is 50. you'll learn about the basic subjects in your first year and u'll have to choose which majoring that u prefer in your 2nd year. there are four majors in Computer Science : Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Networking and MIS. so choose wisely as this is the node to ur future path.

lol same old same old Mr Zahurin yea. haha. we used to sing songs about algorithms and pseudocodes during my time lol. and he will randomly call anyone to the front to sing the songs. memories

as from what i know, the only way to enroll into a degree course is through either diploma, stpm or foundation / matrics. this general rule applies to all universities including UM. u may further your studies into either the three options i've mentioned and continue with ur degree after that
