To all PRO here~ I want to ask...

What settings to set is the best for food photography? And what lens will be the best?

Currently I'm using d7000 with the normal kit 18-135 lens >___>

QUOTE(Kent3888 @ Apr 22 2011, 12:21 AM)
Normal kit lens will do you good enuf, Food don't need aperture like f/1.8
*
Yeap normal kit lens is enough.....All my food pics are taken with my trustie 18-55 lens

wan to ask, if the sunlight is too bringht, then when iso set to lowest la, the colour also duller right? then it is time to set vivid mode? for landscape.
*
Sometimes vivid also not enough saturation loh.. last time I use landscape and boost the saturation in the pc.
as for me for landscape is better with a higher saturation. you can sometimes see a unique color where your eye can't see. smile.gif

im not pro but i want to answer can? hehe

since u will taken a close picture, kitlens quite ok for bokeh.

its depends on u want the output.

for some person, they want to focus out the main delicious spot of the dishes and set to F5.6, max focal length so that can create a lil bokeh on the other side.

some person, normally menu picture la, they want the whole dishes looks clear. basically they start from F7.1 till F16 (well i had did it once at F16)

rest setting, will be determine by the lighting smile.gif

i also forgot + it was taken from FB album. i cant memorize where did i put it.

as far as i remember, shud be F11 - 16, SS : 1/100 - 1/160, single speedlight cls trigger 45 degrees from in front ( camera > subject > flash will be "V" shape if i draw it) speedlight was 1/32 @ 1/64 bare flash direct to the food.

why bare? intentionally want to make the food looks shinny

a noob question... my lens is 18-105 and uh... why sometimes i try to take picture of the food 'closer' but it tends to ask me back off more for the focus?

@__@ make the food pic very small LOL
