Logically tax asessment is by year, so 31st dec of previous year is still previous year. Never heard of pro-rated tax rebate or relief by months. I bet the tax officer just kelentong.. Should ask them to show which part of the income tax act or sspn terms that mentioned funds must be kept for 12months for tax relief..
