Since this year onward is single parent. I plan to withdraw my portion and my spouse will continue to put in 8k. But I heard that the net calculation is for both parent. Anyone hears this?

Should be As per

Whaf i meant was the net saving for both parent combine. Means if I withdraw all my protion, it will have impact on my spouse on net saving.
*
I never heard or read postings here before regarding what you heard, "that the net calculation is for both parent".

Each parent will hv separate account number linked to the same kid, if each parent opened their own account for the same kid.

Discussed before with understandings is, "EITHER" 1 parent can claim for each year only.

What you heard could be something new and latest info which we had not discussed before.
Do you hv the source to it?

I got this information from ptptn officer when I wanted to withdrawal my portion. She warn me that this will have effect on my spouse tax relief. My spouse need to top up the amount that i has withdraw as the net saving is calculated on both parent. I planned to  stop sspn for this year and withdraw everything. Not sure how true is this information.
*
Thanks for the info.

WOW! From the ptptn offficer.

I will definitely explore more about that, but in the meantime, I would still stick to "either 1". If husband and wife file separate tax filing
But if they file as combine, then, I believes it is as what that officer said

Caveat emptor, ..if want to follow me.

Hopefully someone here that has the latest clear and confirmed sure info can answer your concerns.

My wife withdrew everything from her account recently and the officer didn't say anything (Amcorp Mall branch). Maybe this will only apply if you have joint assessment?

My take is that LHDN is not savvy enough to be able to monitor both husband and wife's account to be able to link the SSPN withdrawals/deposits. Just like how you can claim 100% child allowances on both wife and husbands' names if assessed separately (not that I do). I've been fiddling around with my tax account and it's a shame that you can't see in real time the amount of SSPN deduction you can take for the year.

Looks like I'll just take the plunge and do the full withdrawal and alternative year top-up between husband/wife accounts and see what happens.
*
My take is, .... they dont hv to be savvy enough or need to spend too much resources to monitor. I think, they just need to hv simple program embedded into the ITR filing and tax accessment system.

I think a very simple program can do it.
I am not a programmer of any kind. But I think Something like this can be done, ...
IF, A6 = 3, and IF, G13 has $,
Then check tax file of C2 for $ value in G13.
If hv $ value, prompt "kena kantoi"

Ha ha

Is there a limit of how long you have to hold for to claim for the tax relief? So if i put in this year and claim, then next year take out and dont claim, is this allowed?
*
Nett contribution by this year, can take all except RM20 by next year.
Tax relief claim is by calender basis

Shhhhhhhh .... don't give them any ideas. Let us exploit this potential loophole while we still can.
*
I would not dare to try to "exploit" it, when they had already said "only either one parents can claim" if they decided to file separate ITR filing.

I am just too scare of kena vomit out the tax saved and the potential tax penalty imposed for wrongful tax submission declaration.

Hi everyone, just to check:

my wife and I have contributed to SSPN for our two kids. My elder son's account is under my wife's name, and my daughter's is under mine.

My question is, due to the current revised tax relief, only one parent in a family is allowed to claim with a limit of up to RM8,000.

Can I claim for both kids (e.g., RM4,000 each), or do I need to go to a PTPTN branch to change the accounts to be under my name?"
*
I cannot confirm 100%, but I will bet heavily on,
Both children account need to hv your name (nric) opened for them.
Thus you need to open another new account for your son.

Yes, both parents can each open a separate account for the same child. They will each hv its own account numbers.

And I too believed that, your wife's accounts cannot be changed to yours as that has tax traceability implications for at least 7 yrs.

Hopefully you hv that documented and stored well.
Would be very useful if/when being audited for the separate filed itr accessment

OK..
Thanks for the info, ...but me n spouse being "chicken" n we file separate tax file so we would still go as per image starting 2025 until further official published notice if we decides to file sspn tax relief claim...

Before 2025,
If file separate ITR.

Father open account for child A
and deposit 8k into it can claim tax relief 8k

And
Mother open account for child A
and deposit 8k into it can also claim tax relief 8k

(Only child A as parents got only 1 child).

So that impression or mindset of 8k per child per parent, need to change from 2025. As that "old" impression or mindset does not make sense from 2025 anymore

And if still does not bother to read up to wakes up and still do as BEFORE, then good luck.

Ohhh correct also. Actually depends on your tax bracket.
But why your interest so low gehhhh. is it back calculated from loan/FD interest or something?
I also want to borrow money with that interest  biggrin.gif
Oh per month interest? x12 becomes per annum
*
Perhaps just borrow for a week or so?
In in end Dec and out on early Jan?

wanna do last minute top up this year.. normally i will top up in the end of Nov so i at least get the entire December interest but this round i am thinking of going last minute as my money work better else where..

any idea when is the last day to top up? I am using FPX saja smile.gif
scare system down then GG
*
Usually max 8k are most people deposit to get max tax relief.

So this 8k (that you wanted to put in sspn) will earn how much money daily from somewhete else? ( the place where your put that money that earned more than sspn?)

A rough estimate, a 15% pa roi of 8k is abt 3.30 daily....
3 days is abt myr10.

Would one bet a myr10 just by not depositing it earlier against a missed opportunity to get tax relief for the year?

Thus I would just deposit on Monday 29 Dec or earlier just incase system down

For me,
If can get much better roi outside, then i would withdraw as soon as the platform allows next year and channel it to that platform.
