talk about "oversize/overweight/unbalance" of F58 on A33/55, seriously, its like how i complain the ugliness of the htc incredible S back with a bump... but after u get it and uses it, after a while, u kinda forgot u are complain, because u are overwhelm by the good photo the F58 assisted to provide.

I have the MRC and it's easy to wipe, which I think its the major difference. Just bought B+W CPL Slim and waiting for my package to arrive from Hong Kong.

b+w only 2

F-pro for normal one or old one
XS-pro for Xtra Slim filter (new one, but not as replacement).

the 2 u mention above, both are the SAME FPRO.

B+W is famous for the MRC (multi resistance coating, marketing name) just their famous high resistance coating.

then the alloy and brass, i just heard it was due to region release. but i not sure which is which.

brass is only like 20-30myr more expensive then allow one. and XS-pro is around 40-50 more then F-pro (40-80 more then alloy Fpro)

ieR or anybody else, can you clarify this for me, I've read an article somewhere about the Brass ring for the B+W filter is good because it absorbs shock better compared to the steel ones offered by other brands for their filters. They say if it falls head first and hits the filter on the side, the filter will easily bengkok and thus absorbing the shock from the impact thus reducing the shock to your lens (so you may just end up with a bent and broken filter) while conventional steel ring filters will just absorb all the shock and it may shatter your lens. (That's why B+W uses brass for their filters)

err i cant clarify that. but the reason they used brass(state on their website) is that, brass dont bind with aluminum (our lens filter thread is made of aluminum) and usually maker use aluminum as its cheap, and it tend to bind with the lens filterthread. (in chinese we call "eat" the aluminum)

about the impact, what chance ur lens drop head first? drop are rare, so to me, filter are meant to prevent oily finger print on lens element and risking wiping to dmg the lens element. so oily finger has higher chance, so b+w is easy to clean and high scratch resistant, i recommend it tongue.gif

(my camera got "swinged" accidentally by me from my waist height, hit the floor at 1 meter away from me, and rolled 2 meter away. hotshoe broken, the rest is fine, some minor scratch on camera.)

I believe that's the correct statement. I am in engineering field and different material can eliminate the 2 parts to binded together when the threads are locked too tightly, and yes,the brass are more expensive than aluminium biggrin.gif
