8. Hire a driver. Don't kena potong. Please search for the standard price in this thread (Min 300K rupiah). Or even rent a car..min 120K Rupiah
9. Eat sate babi at Warung Mayde Kuta(if you are a non-muslim)Eat dirty duck at Ubud. It's nice & Babi Guling.. (ermmm the taste is good but it's not excellent). For Jimbaran seafood choose Lia Cafe at the old Seafood complex...others are expensive
10. Hard Rock Bali. & also window shoppings in Kuta Square, DVD shoppings, Discovery Centro Mall or even Carrefour at Sunset road
11. Stay at ubud. As it'll overlook a paddy field. Nice

1) Bersakith mother of all temples - Damn far & watch out for those blood suckling temple committee that ask for >US30 for temple visit! Pls bargain kaw-kaw if u intend to go there! - Lotsa bad experiences here

3) Goa Lawah - Very far too on the way to Padang Bai port (In between nothing else) Do visit the beach opposite - It's pure black volcanic beach!
4) GWK park - Heard it's not even completed yet but $$ entrance fee
5) Dreamland beach - More like surfing beach. So water quality so-so only
6) Tempak Sireh -

8) Lovina Singgahsana- Very far

Don't
1. Hire straight away a driver from airport. They'll think you are desperate and take advantage of u.
2. Eat at jimbaran restaurant that's recommended by your driver. I think the driver will bring you to an expensive place to eat. Go somewhere that's introduced in this forum. I learnt my lesson. Don't go to Damoz! It's blardy expensive. + Don't order set dinner. Choose by kilogram
3. Errr walk at midnite back to hotel at ubud. LOL a lot of dogs running around during midnite at that area. They'll keep on barking at u. Scary! haha
4. Forget to put on your sunblock.
5. Don't buy things from people that are hording you!! They come in a pack!
6. Don't go to Pacung for buffet. The food is terrible and it cost us 70k damn!
7. Batu Bulan Kecak dance - Very expensive & unreal dance. Better goto the real dance performed in Uluwatu or other temples.

Hey guys! My gf and I are going on a short vacation to Bali from the 10th to 12th of April! Celebrating her birthday there and sort of our getaway.. It's really short because it's the only time where she can take leave off her internship and I dont have classes on those days. We are tied up due to time constraint, nevertheless we'd want to have a memorable time at Bali!

Below is our draft n sum of our enquiries, and itll be really unorthodox.. simply because we think that if we went for tours with the already limited amount of time we have left, our getaway wont be much of a getaway to relax n chill with us rushing around like mad.. so basically we would want to focus on nice beaches to chill at, awesome scenery (close to beaches), spa n massage, great street/local food n beverages, shopping (heard its quite cheap).. yea guess that's pretty much it. (though I feel I must see Bedugul and Tanah Lot for my own eyes.. SO SURREAL.)

Oh and because it's so much about chilling and relaxing, we are staying at Dreamland villas.. near Nirmala.. we spent more on our accomodation because we booked our flight tix early its only 82SGD return (my gf's from sg and we are taking the plane from there)

So please advise sifus!

1. We've been to Krabi (for beach seaside kinda getaway n also scooter trips!) and Bangkok (for mad shopping) and in Krabi I rented a scooter and that was one of the best things in life I've ever done with my gf.. Was wondering is Bali anything like these 2 holiday places, or a mix of it?

2. Also, I only have my Malaysian driver's license, is it safe to drive a vehicle around Bali? Whatabout a scooter? How much would that cost roughly.

3. If driving isn't recommended, what about in our case, would you recommend us getting a driver?

4. If you were me, how would you have planned the itinerary?

If ya're planning to visit kintamani or something tourist spot, dont even rent a scooter and go by yourself. Its mostly hilly places around bali and from spot to another spot .. its gonna cost at least 15mins ... and some even worst, 1hr+. Imagine driving a scooter, going up a HILL, LOL ....

Well cuz we r gona b mostly travelling between nusa dua and seminyak as we stay in between,sumwhere near jimbaran area..we are considering to rent a car as we find it not very worth if we go for spa n beach only while the driver waits in d car..n summore not travelling further than nusa dua n seminyak..

I'm going to Bali with my hubby on the end of this month for 4 or 5 nights. Could I go there and find any cheap hotel? Last time, I went to Phuket. I think paying for RM200++ a night not worth it as most of the time I was outside and there is a lot of good, clean hotel near the beach.

It is more to local acceptance cause no religion give you so much freedom. If you go to any temple, mosque or church, they will ask you to cover up. It just us, youngster, who like to do what we like.

So Stimix, which places better, kuta or legian?

If you check googlemaps/wikimapia, There is no real border between Tuban (Centro Mall area), Kuta (Matahari/Planet Hollywood area), Legian (1km from Planet hollywood) & even Seminyak.

All these 4 areas are actually part of Kuta-lah just the distance from the Middle...For me the Ctr of Kuta will be area surrounding Matahari Mall or even aboit South at Tuban- Discovery Centro Mall. Those hotels surrounding Discovery malls are expensive. Kuta side, there are lotsa cheap hotels inside the 2 famous poppies lanes 1 & 2. Further North is Legian area..well still within walking distance to Central Kuat bcos only 1-3km away. Thereafter after legian is Seminyak ~ 4-8Km from Cntral Kuta.

Both have pro's and con's

Oooo... Now I get it. So, If I stay in Legian, still near to beach? Sorry, this girls ask you so lot.

For me, central Kuta was too busy, traffic jam and billion of shops around so its easy while Legian a bit above and actually they are side by side, less dense and more proper for human living

as i vote for legian coz last time i staying in kuta.really near the Matahari mall,Kuta Square.But legian will be closer to pub,restaurant.i'm using muslim supir service so food wont be problem.

stay at tune hotel legian last year. good but quite. tune hotel kuta is at town center. u wont be staying all day in ur room. the h ot shower n bed at tune hotel perghhh feel so nice. tune hotel legian got coffee house. not bad the food

btw, legian is far from most of the shopping complex~
i stay at tune hotel legian and i gotta tell u its not so happening around that road at night~
unless u walk to the legian beach area there should be more restaurant & bar~

I just came back from Bali, reached LCCT this morning at 12:15am.

Stayed in Bali 4 days (arrived in evening), everyday raining they said b4 we came was hot weather, the day we arrived was the 1st day start raining But not that heavy, and it was on and off but we can't see the volcano coz thick haze. Also missed the sunset in Tanah Lot (2nd day) and Jimbara (4th day) coz blocking by clouds

I went with a Muslim friend, so "makanwise" I respect him, followed his choice but no problem to find halal food in Bali.

Stayed in Tune Hotel Kuta, location very good, but the room is very small; bath room is ok. Add-on aircond 24 hours Rp55.000 but didn't fully utilize it coz stayed 3 night but stayed in the room less than 24 hours

I used En. Bagus' van service for 2 days. He picked up us at airport and brought us to take dinner Ayam Betutu, very damn hot, if u like hot food u will like it He has something to do on 2nd day so he asked his cousin to be the driver for our 1 day trip. We also added another day of transport service on 4th day, same driver but we actually prefer En.Bagus, he looks friendly. He also recommended itinerary for us, 3 options for different routes. Can consider his service if you are renting van with driver, can contact him via victorytourtravel@yahoo.com

Went to 2 big discos, Sky Garden and Bounty; Bounty was so crowded every night with mostly mat salleh, free entrance for foreigners. This trip has no shopping, just jalan-jalan and relaxing. In overall, I enjoyed this holiday

He charged me Rp300K per day, Avanza.

The discos are in Jln Legian Kuta, walking distance from Tune Hotel, about 10 minutes, very happening there. Bounty is the most crowded one, open until 4am. Remember to tell you are "international guests" coz free entry or else u need to pay Rp30K or Rp50K (depends on which disco) for 1 drink. If free entry, u dun order drink also fine, no forcing one. First night we didn't know, so paid for entry, 2nd night we entered for free...really enjoy the music there. Also must go to Hard Rock Cafe, live band performance starts at 11pm till 3am, if enter b4 11pm, free entry also. After 11pm, need to order drink before entering, 1 coke costs Rp60K. Last saturday nite was performed by Jakarta local live band called Broadband, all popular English songs, their guitarists, drummer etc and singers are very professional.

Hey guys! I'm heading to Bali this Sunday till next Sunday so I was wondering arr there any nice vegetarian shops around? Unfortunately I am a vegetarian and I won't be able to try the local delights

we also 2 pax, so no need big van but they only have MPV, no car. I saw the road sign is Jalan Legian Kuta but driver told us there is Legian, I also not sure coz Legian and Kuta is neighbour, so no idea where Tune Legian located. Disco anytime enter also free, I didnt bring passport, keep in safe coz difficult to carry but I have IC in wallet, we show them IC. Disco if enter too early not so crowded, after 11pm has more ppl, peak is after 12am. You can visit few discos 1 night to compare but Bounty is the best, Sky Garden 2nd, the rest not that attractive. We wear short, t-shirt and sandals to discos, many ppl wear like that also, very relaxing Massage shops are everywhere in Kuta, the further we walk were the Jalan Legian, there are many also. Full body massage is worth, cheapest is 50K, we massage 3 times in 1 day, all diff prices (same 1 hour), 50K, 55K & 60K (around RM20 only), at diff shops but prices near discos more expensive. Just a tip, if you want to buy Bali t-shirt (normal round neck), price can be negotiated until Rp20K (about RM7), they normally ask for 40K-50K per piece

Whats the different between Ayung River and Telaga Waja? Whats the comparison. Price wise? I see that most of the website quote in US dollar for almost RM 150 per person.

we arrived at 7pm on first day, so Encik bagus pick up us for Rp30K coz at first we rent for 1 day, he said free pick up for 2 days. So first night we just jalan-jalan at Hard Rock Hotel & Hard Rock cafe and enjoy live music performance there.

2nd day we rent 1 day to jalan out of Kuta. Came back to hotel about 8pm, then the van service ended. Then makan and walked to Jln Legian until 2am.

3rd day jalan-jalan, massage, shopping in Kuta area. There are more shops selling t-shirt near Kuta beach. From main Kuta road to Hard Rock hotel, until the junction near the beach, turn right to Hard Rock hotel, turn left and go straight you will see many small shops selling t-shirt on your left (on your right is sea, you are walking on beach), the road can go to Matahari complex also. Remember to negotiate, some shops dun want to reduce too much, then just go other shops. We bought all t-shirt (white background) at Rp20K, but color background t-shirt more expensive Rp25K-30K. I went to shop No.133, got one auntie sells, she not back, can give good price, and I keep telling her she is nice, she is pretty, good luck, good business, then she offer us Rp20K Basically u can negotiate until 50% coz I bought 1 blouse for my wife, Rp90K but I negotiated until Rp.40K (RM14). You can find many shops selling t-shirt along jalan Kuta but more expensive, but if you can negotiate until Rp20K, then same also.

4th day rent another day of van, go jalan-jalan out of Kuta, so check out in the morning, bring luggage in van, then jalan until 7pm, driver sent us to airport.

Massage shops are everywhere, but main Kuta road has more, just compare the price and duration, we tried 3 shops, their skill lebih kurang sama, only price different. All shops have Balinese massage, use oil urut.

Another thing is money changer, dun change in shops that also selling things like sunglasses, shoes, clothes etc coz most of them (maybe all) are illegal money changers, they dun give you receipt, they will give you one whole bunch of small notes (Rp20K), they will count in front of you but when they give to you, they give less. I kena once 3 years ago. Also their calculator also got problem, dun tell the right amount. So when u see they pay you all Rp20K notes, go away, 99.99% is illegal money changer who is trying to cheat u, they shld give u all Rp100K notes except balance with small notes. Legal one will ask you to fill up a form for Name, Passport No, Hotel, Amount, and will give u official receipt. u walk to kuta beach still cannot see the stalls, u need to turn left then go straight until u see them on your left, there shld be cheaper but u can see many shops selling t-shirt in town but they dun reduce so much.

good to control with budget but pls reserve Rp150K per person for airport tax, dun spend until no money to pay airport tax

sigh no vegetarian places? im leaving on sunday already.. btw how much is a meal over there? lets say compared to our normal food in shopping malls which are around rm30 per person

Any nice massages that I should experience? It's my 1st time to Bali I didn't see any massages recommended on the 1st post so don't mind me asking hehe.. My girlfriend is a fan for massages.. Couple massages would be awesome

Phuket was nice. I usually do oil massage while my husband do Thai massage. If I'm wearing shirt, they change to their simple cloth, if I'm wearing bikini, they just ask to open the top. Eh, this is in the massage parlor, not on the beach. How about Bali?

well at kuta beach itself there also self proclaim masseue(be very careful) but along the pantai kuta rd there lots of spa/massage outlets and some proclaim vagina massage but my wife did not go for it. same thing in bali or phuket u hv 2 wear their cloth for full body massage but i prefer thai massage got some kepak here n there..kriak...priakkk but balinese massage so lembut aaa. Hmm maybe on my 3rd visit to bali i would but then maybe.

I couldn't tahan the thai massage. Try one time.

Oh.. Actually, i don't like their cloth. That why i prefer just open my top. The massage is by a girl in a close area, so that why it is ok for me. But in Bali, they don't do that?

well ur the client the moneys is urs. i think they can accomodate that. on ur next visit try to stay at mercure kuta especially the upper level facing the sea. thier level 4 infinity pool wowww but the room is cool hehehe u can wear bikini in ur room or topless. my wife did...this is bali afterall

hmmm not sure about massage, but everyone says it is everywhere hahah~ maybe can find it easily~ so when u go this trip~ take some pic of good massage center =) real and pure ones haha~~ price 50k-55k mars mention ma~ hehe =)

at kuta area. there are many many outlets. u r spoil 4 choice but choose one and compare price with others. after whole day of sight seeing y not hv some relasing massage. this is holiday....enjoy it

no lo.. because some they say are not "REAL" are not hamsup or whatever ones.. so need to know the "REAL" type of massage... like phuket i went to C & N Hotel, real old aunty.. very good tactic.. when i feel pain/itchy she will know even i move a little....

I googled some and most of them are in hotels i guess ill try about 3 then ill let you guys know about it

true. most of the gals in bali are young gal but i dont like balinese massage but then well go for urut kaki maa. jalan jalan all sakit here n there at least ur kaki ok. ermm looking 4wd night life at legian again. miss sunset in bali. last year went everday rain..cloudy hope this november ok...

BTW, anyone who took the earliest flight at 6am back before? Do you know what time the airport starts operation?

this time I went Bali also raining everyday, 2nd day went to see sunset in Tanah Lot but blocking by cloud. 4th day went to see sunset at Jimbaran also blocking by clouds, no luck

a normal meal in Bali depends on where u eat~
my bali driver get to eat nice babi guling for 5k only~ =p

just came back from bali yesterday after 6 days there.
bali was awesome, the people, the food, the places, everything was very good.
i went there with 2 girlfriends. (3 girls including me)
we hired pak bagus as out driver. unfortunately, he cant make it for some reason.
so he replaced himself with another driver, Addy swastawan.
young n very 'ganteng'.

had so much fun there.
thanx to addy.

i missed bali so much now..
