Weather in Bali
http://bali.sawadee.com/weather.htm

Compilation of "Must" List of Attractions in Bali (From all LYN forumers that visited Bali):

1. Uluwatu
2. Tanah Lot
3. Bedugul (On the way probably stop at Tmn Ayun complex at Mengwi)
4. Kintamani & Mount Batur. Although the buffet sux. (On the way choose either Tegalalang rice field or Tempak Sireh (Diff road!)
5. Ubud massage and spa! & Taman Ayun Pura & Goa Gajah
6. Shopping at Sukawati. It's damn cheap! And please bargain. I always bargain with 80%. Then you can go on from there.
7. Nusa dua & surrounding beaches (Geger/ Bali Cliff) beaches are incredibly clear.
8. Hire a driver. Don't kena potong. Please search for the standard price in this thread (Min 300K rupiah). Or even rent a car..min 120K Rupiah
9. Eat sate babi at Warung Mayde Kuta(if you are a non-muslim)Eat dirty duck at Ubud. It's nice & Babi Guling.. (ermmm the taste is good but it's not excellent). For Jimbaran seafood choose Lia Cafe at the old Seafood complex...others are expensive
10. Hard Rock Bali. & also window shoppings in Kuta Square, DVD shoppings, Discovery Centro Mall or even Carrefour at Sunset road
11. Stay at ubud. As it'll overlook a paddy field. Nice

Secondary List if Having more times & also $$$

1) Bersakith mother of all temples - Damn far & watch out for those blood suckling temple committee that ask for >US30 for temple visit! Pls bargain kaw-kaw if u intend to go there! - Lotsa bad experiences here
2) Batu Karo Pura 2nd sacred Pura in Bali - Very deserted at the foot of Mt Karo - very far
3) Goa Lawah - Very far too on the way to Padang Bai port (In between nothing else) Do visit the beach opposite - It's pure black volcanic beach!
4) GWK park - Heard it's not even completed yet but $$ entrance fee
5) Dreamland beach - More like surfing beach. So water quality so-so only
6) Tempak Sireh -
7) Kunklung royal Bathing
8) Lovina Singgahsana- Very far
9) Penida & Lembongan island ($$$)
10) Tumbalen & Amed diving (Far/ deserted & $$$)
11) Denpasar - Just a city, u will pass-by anyway on your way North

Don't
1. Hire straight away a driver from airport. They'll think you are desperate and take advantage of u.
2. Eat at jimbaran restaurant that's recommended by your driver. I think the driver will bring you to an expensive place to eat. Go somewhere that's introduced in this forum. I learnt my lesson. Don't go to Damoz! It's blardy expensive. + Don't order set dinner. Choose by kilogram
3. Errr walk at midnite back to hotel at ubud. LOL a lot of dogs running around during midnite at that area. They'll keep on barking at u. Scary! haha
4. Forget to put on your sunblock.
5. Don't buy things from people that are hording you!! They come in a pack!
6. Don't go to Pacung for buffet. The food is terrible and it cost us 70k damn!
7. Batu Bulan Kecak dance - Very expensive & unreal dance. Better goto the real dance performed in Uluwatu or other temples.

They normally parked their cars/Jeeps beside or opposite any hotels around Kuta...Otherwise you can pre-booked them from the some of forumers recommendations (the contact list has been withdrawn due to invasion by Balinese car rental companies)

Pre Hotel Booking & tour packages - For those wanted to assure of hotels once reaching Bali (Certain ppl prefer walk-in . According to them cheaper!)

If you check googlemaps/wikimapia, There is no real border between Tuban (Centro Mall area), Kuta (Matahari/Planet Hollywood area), Legian (1km from Planet hollywood) & even Seminyak.

All these 4 areas are actually part of Kuta-lah just the distance from the Middle...For me the Ctr of Kuta will be area surrounding Matahari Mall or even aboit South at Tuban- Discovery Centro Mall. Those hotels surrounding Discovery malls are expensive. Kuta side, there are lotsa cheap hotels inside the 2 famous poppies lanes 1 & 2. Further North is Legian area..well still within walking distance to Central Kuat bcos only 1-3km away. Thereafter after legian is Seminyak ~ 4-8Km from Cntral Kuta.

Wow, you paid almost RM500 for dinner at Lia Cafe? ..Damn they really cut throat liao since my last visit...I think, for any seafood dinner there, do not go for package set but check their price per kg & negotiate from there..other side dishes such as kangkong, potatoes & rice are free.

Actually most of the restaurants or even warongs in Bali esp cater for Tourist are over priced to be abit cheaper than Europe & Australia. For the westerners, the price still reasonable but for Malaysian Super duper expensive..

The most important thing is to bargain & check the price per Kg. I remembered I baragined for my seafood at Lia till I managed to get rp60K dinner for 3 ..That was <Rm25 yo.

After so many discussion and suprisingly seeing Lia's also offering such an cut throat pricing...therefore, i changed the warning on Jimbaran seafood to include - NO SET MEAL! Negotiate per Kg!

In Lia- no..We almost wanna go away when they pulled us back and agreed to our pricing biggrin.gif They gave the kangkong & grilled potatos for free. That's why after so many ppl kena cut throat even at lia Cafe, I noticed that they choosed package dinner set instead of negotiating for the price per Kg of teh seafood! biggrin.gif

Anyway, most of the restaurants in Kuta is not cheap smile.gif Slightly expensive than KL. way back in 2005, a plate of fried rice already cost me rp15,000 in a small warong beside my hotel now, I think already >20K hmm.gif
QUOTE(AngelLingLing @ Apr 12 2011, 12:18 PM)
ohh faint.. means if dunno nego = die....

we choose the seafood, nego the price.... then we pay the price? is it? do they charge the way they cook?

QUOTE(Putraskyline @ Apr 12 2011, 12:54 PM)
I don't know about Spicy Fried Chicken but Malioboro Fried Chicken are worth to try since you can eat their bone too. Menega cafe at Muaya Beach is another place where you can visit if you want to dine at Jimbaran. I have post reference price in Bali V2.

Sukawati is an art market something like Philipino market in kota kinabalu or Central Market KL. Size probably abit bigger than KK filipino market but smaller than Central market KL but more things due to the density as you can see below..not easy to move around inside

No the opposite far end of each others actually. Tanah Lot located on the far West & Sukawati located somewhere in the Eastern side near to Batu Bulan area (Famous for kecak expensive fake dance area). i.e far North East of Denpasar

Actual GPS location of Sukawati art market: S8 36.264 E115 16.819 (Copy to Google Earth or wikimapia)

BTW, b4 entering Tanah Lot area, there is a huge Art Market which I think bigger and not as dense as Sukawati surrounding the parking area. Sometime I feel, It's much easier to shop here in Tanah lot rather than the narrow and almost impossible to walk around inside Sukawati market biggrin.gif . For bargain & cheapo goods, actually the best place is to get from those pest running after you at Tegalalang or even Kintamani. They can offer you ridicolous pricing that you can't get in Sukawati, Ubud and even Tanah Lot!! You can get 50% off from the Sukawati stalls..if you try to run away from them and they grab you back offering something that unthinkaeble!! I got my RM20 Garuda wood scupture there. Even in Jakarta, it was selling >RM150 and in Singapore, the smaller version of my Garuda sulpture selling at >S$200!!

Uluwatu - Yes but Nusa Dua..nothing special there. and the water sports are not cheap. He probably wanna bring you there so that can get commission from those water sport operators in Benoa.

Besakith temple..is huge but watchout for the entrance fee & forced to take guided tour + rental of sarong & umbrella. - Entrance fees are negotibale there and starting price can be as high as US$30 per pax!!- I can't really remembered how much I paid to enter there wth a guide..probably US$10 for 3 of us...Really kena slaughtered kaw-kaw + rental of umbrella & sarong!!

Certain forumer also discourage GWK ..Not sure why But I din go there too blush.gif probably you can refer to pg 1 MUST list and secondary list to check which one is a must and which on can be secondary..Bersakith although the biggest temple there but going there (Distance ~ 2.5-3 hrs from Kuata) + the ridicolous forced illegal entrance ticket by kampung folks there really a no-no & thus- for me 2ndary list

Now only I saw.. blush.gif For such a short period of time, just concentrater on the main attraction lah & skip all others unecessary or secondary list.

For me, skip spa. nothing great compare to Thai massage. Skip Ubud market & Palace. Tanah Lot yes a must..thereafter you can goto Bedugul floating temple. Or vice versa. No idea where is penimbangan blush.gif

2nd day - Straigh away got Kintamani & dun wait till noon to avoid going there late & the whole area covered wth cloud & see nothing! You can passby Tegalalang rice terraces on the way to Kintamani (Both places you will encountered lotsa pest hawkling their products..Although irritating, they are the cheapest if you negotiate kaw-kaw..If you're lady...better let your hubby/BF do the negotiation,,bcos lotsa body contact esp pulling your shirt, hand & sometime molestation tool shocking.gif

If you are happy wth the purchase, you can skip sukawati too bcos the products at Tegalalang & kintamani are much cheaper...On the way to tegalalang, you can see rows & rows of those sulpture & arts factories dy.. biggrin.gif

GWK- can skip bcos others said so. blush.gif but Uluwatu is a must. Jimbaran..watch out on package dinner pricing - Most of the time more pricey than m'sia Go for per Kg basis & negotiate from per kg...Try to get idea from KL seafood pricing per kg.

Illegal toll: rp3000-rp10,000 rupiah and entrance from rp3000-rp10,000 except the ridicolous Bersakith temple that slaugtering tourist without real standard pricing.. mad.gif

kintamani & Tegalalng is not real shopping hor..mor like beggars surrounded you wth souvenirs, magnets, Tees, wooden sculptures & etc...Not only 1 surrounding or forcing you but >10 !! You hardly can snap good pictures sometime bcos of them!!

I dun like Bali spa bcos too soft..No umpphh.. and make you naked for sure wth only curtain protecting you from outside..sometime can see from side wan

Anyway, Don'y mislead on the timing hor..due to the road condition...Time taken from 1 location to another is very long...Even to Kintamani which is ~ 50-60km away take about 2.5-3hrs!

For sure there are..There are 2 ways going to Kintamani after Ubud. either via tegalalng way or Bedugul way. Both also will reach Kintamani but both are on diff roads

So you can choose Bedugul-Kintamani or Tegalalang kintamani. You can stop at Ubud & even Denpasar BUT I recommend you go straight to Kintamani 1st BECAUSE of the cloud! Kintamani is located on thye Volcano rim which is ~ 1200M above sea level..So if yopu are unlucky esp going after Noon time..The whole Batur Volcano & lake will be surrounded wth cloud & you see nothing except the cool mountain which you can also get in CH or Genting
