I just came back from Bali, reached LCCT this morning at 12:15am.

Stayed in Bali 4 days (arrived in evening), everyday raining doh.gif they said b4 we came was hot weather, the day we arrived was the 1st day start raining doh.gif But not that heavy, and it was on and off but we can't see the volcano coz thick haze. Also missed the sunset in Tanah Lot (2nd day) and Jimbara (4th day) coz blocking by clouds doh.gif

I went with a Muslim friend, so "makanwise" I respect him, followed his choice but no problem to find halal food in Bali.

Stayed in Tune Hotel Kuta, location very good, but the room is very small; bath room is ok. Add-on aircond 24 hours Rp55.000 but didn't fully utilize it coz stayed 3 night but stayed in the room less than 24 hours wink.gif

I used En. Bagus' van service for 2 days. He picked up us at airport and brought us to take dinner Ayam Betutu, very damn hot, if u like hot food u will like it nod.gif He has something to do on 2nd day so he asked his cousin to be the driver for our 1 day trip. We also added another day of transport service on 4th day, same driver but we actually prefer En.Bagus, he looks friendly. He also recommended itinerary for us, 3 options for different routes. Can consider his service if you are renting van with driver, can contact him via victorytourtravel@yahoo.com

Went to 2 big discos, Sky Garden and Bounty; Bounty was so crowded every night with mostly mat salleh, free entrance for foreigners. This trip has no shopping, just jalan-jalan and relaxing. In overall, I enjoyed this holiday nod.gif

how much he charge u? for the transport? 300k/350k?

the disco located at kuta?
*
He charged me Rp300K per day, Avanza.

The discos are in Jln Legian Kuta, walking distance from Tune Hotel, about 10 minutes, very happening there. Bounty is the most crowded one, open until 4am. Remember to tell you are "international guests" coz free entry or else u need to pay Rp30K or Rp50K (depends on which disco) for 1 drink. If free entry, u dun order drink also fine, no forcing one. First night we didn't know, so paid for entry, 2nd night we entered for free...really enjoy the music there. Also must go to Hard Rock Cafe, live band performance starts at 11pm till 3am, if enter b4 11pm, free entry also. After 11pm, need to order drink before entering, 1 coke costs Rp60K. Last saturday nite was performed by Jakarta local live band called Broadband, all popular English songs, their guitarists, drummer etc and singers are very professional. thumbup.gif

*
go massage, full body 1 hour Rp50K, then do reflexology Rp45K (1 hour), and Cream Bath (head massage 40 mins) Rp55K, total Rp150K (about RM50) for almost 3 hours already thumbup.gif

ahh 300k not bad~ we have 2 pax only small car will do too.... Jalan Legian kuta means at Kuta? err.. if walk from legian tune hotel must b far~~ so for disco need to enter before 11pm lor right? show passport and get free entry?

hmm massage at where? kuta too?
*
we also 2 pax, so no need big van but they only have MPV, no car. I saw the road sign is Jalan Legian Kuta but driver told us there is Legian, I also not sure coz Legian and Kuta is neighbour, so no idea where Tune Legian located. Disco anytime enter also free, I didnt bring passport, keep in safe coz difficult to carry but I have IC in wallet, we show them IC. Disco if enter too early not so crowded, after 11pm has more ppl, peak is after 12am. You can visit few discos 1 night to compare but Bounty is the best, Sky Garden 2nd, the rest not that attractive. We wear short, t-shirt and sandals to discos, many ppl wear like that also, very relaxing smile.gif Massage shops are everywhere in Kuta, the further we walk were the Jalan Legian, there are many also. Full body massage is worth, cheapest is 50K, we massage 3 times in 1 day, all diff prices (same 1 hour), 50K, 55K & 60K (around RM20 only), at diff shops smile.gif but prices near discos more expensive. Just a tip, if you want to buy Bali t-shirt (normal round neck), price can be negotiated until Rp20K (about RM7), they normally ask for 40K-50K per piece nod.gif

ohh~~ means avanza is small car there hehe~~ okok~~ erm.. the driver fetch you to the clubs too? but how you go back? walk back ti kuta tune? because i saw from google map kuta tune looks far from legian tune.... which road should go in for the massage? because kuta seems big wo... any "original" massage there? or which massage shop you went to that you remember is good in massage tactic?

ohhh those i love bali tee? yaya looking to buy those also... find at kuta area? any shopping area? or whole kuta street full of shopping? long time ago i went to tanah lot... but those clothes there seems not cheap..

we arrived at 7pm on first day, so Encik bagus pick up us for Rp30K coz at first we rent for 1 day, he said free pick up for 2 days. So first night we just jalan-jalan at Hard Rock Hotel & Hard Rock cafe and enjoy live music performance there.

2nd day we rent 1 day to jalan out of Kuta. Came back to hotel about 8pm, then the van service ended. Then makan and walked to Jln Legian until 2am.

3rd day jalan-jalan, massage, shopping in Kuta area. There are more shops selling t-shirt near Kuta beach. From main Kuta road to Hard Rock hotel, until the junction near the beach, turn right to Hard Rock hotel, turn left and go straight you will see many small shops selling t-shirt on your left (on your right is sea, you are walking on beach), the road can go to Matahari complex also. Remember to negotiate, some shops dun want to reduce too much, then just go other shops. We bought all t-shirt (white background) at Rp20K, but color background t-shirt more expensive Rp25K-30K. I went to shop No.133, got one auntie sells, she not back, can give good price, and I keep telling her she is nice, she is pretty, good luck, good business, then she offer us Rp20K smile.gif Basically u can negotiate until 50% coz I bought 1 blouse for my wife, Rp90K but I negotiated until Rp.40K (RM14). You can find many shops selling t-shirt along jalan Kuta but more expensive, but if you can negotiate until Rp20K, then same also.

4th day rent another day of van, go jalan-jalan out of Kuta, so check out in the morning, bring luggage in van, then jalan until 7pm, driver sent us to airport.

Massage shops are everywhere, but main Kuta road has more, just compare the price and duration, we tried 3 shops, their skill lebih kurang sama, only price different. All shops have Balinese massage, use oil urut.

Another thing is money changer, dun change in shops that also selling things like sunglasses, shoes, clothes etc coz most of them (maybe all) are illegal money changers, they dun give you receipt, they will give you one whole bunch of small notes (Rp20K), they will count in front of you but when they give to you, they give less. I kena once 3 years ago. Also their calculator also got problem, dun tell the right amount. So when u see they pay you all Rp20K notes, go away, 99.99% is illegal money changer who is trying to cheat u, they shld give u all Rp100K notes except balance with small notes. Legal one will ask you to fill up a form for Name, Passport No, Hotel, Amount, and will give u official receipt. The exchange rate shld be better than in Malaysia, pls compare coz in Bali RM100=Rp283.500 (2835), ave is 2800.

ohhh means need to walk to the kuta beach then only can see those selling those T shirts~~ okok noted hehe~~ going in aug still long, planning my itinerary..

guess the massage center is like phuket... everywhere...

noted about the money changer thing, normaly i will change in msia before i go hehehe~~~ more easy i guess and will not overspent lol!! need to stop when no more $$
*
u walk to kuta beach still cannot see the stalls, u need to turn left then go straight until u see them on your left, there shld be cheaper smile.gif but u can see many shops selling t-shirt in town but they dun reduce so much.

good to control with budget but pls reserve Rp150K per person for airport tax, dun spend until no money to pay airport tax tongue.gif

I used En. Bagus' van when in Bali last week, he is a nice guy and offered very cheap rate for his Avanza. If you are looking for budgeted transport, service, you can contact him via victorytourtravel@yahoo.com, I also dun get commission from him tongue.gif I also missing Bali now, but got strong feeling that might not going there anymore coz already went there twice, so will keep the budget to visit other places unless can get "free tickets" from AA tongue.gif But I regret now coz I saw a Buddha sculpture, very nice about RM1.5K but I didnt buy it...really regret now sad.gif

just wondering, does En Bagus follow us around or does he drop us there? Cause it would be nice if he could follow and help take some pictures. Also his rate is IDR 300,000/day. does this include parking fees?
*
Actually En. Bagus didn't drive, he got something on that day, another guy drove the van. He just drop us there and wait for us. He paid parking fee but sometimes we need to pay entrance fee and van parking together before entering the compound, normally is Rp5K & entrance fee normally is Rp15K/pax in most places.

*
we went Jimbaran but didn't take dinner there, too expensive, we just ordered drinks and wait for sunset coz the shop that the driver brought us there too expensive and also my friend can't take prawn and sotong, so decided dun take there nod.gif

Actually most of the restaurants or even warongs in Bali esp cater for Tourist are over priced to be abit cheaper than Europe & Australia. For the westerners, the price still reasonable but for Malaysian Super duper expensive..

The most important thing is to bargain & check the price per Kg. I remembered I baragined for my seafood at Lia till I managed to get rp60K dinner for 3 ..That was <Rm25 yo.

After so many discussion and suprisingly seeing Lia's also offering such an cut throat pricing...therefore, i changed the warning on Jimbaran seafood to include - NO SET MEAL! Negotiate per Kg!

Live lobster about RM200/kg is very expensive, right? I was shocked to see this price sweat.gif but i dunno its market price in Malaysia, any idea?

I see. I can't say u r wrong coz I didnt know what was happening in the past but I personally met Pak Bagus early this month, he really looks polite and friendly during our first meet.

Anyway, it's good to list out the drivers in Bali so that forumers can contact them to check their prices and come back here to comment about their services, which will benefit forumers who are going to Bali but dunno which driver to take... nod.gif

But your first page list really covers a lot of things that gives forumers useful info b4 visiting Bali, that's why this thread has "version 3" now thumbup.gif

I guess why some ppl said Pak Bagus' service not good...Pak Bagus himself is a nice guy but he might not available to be driver for everyone (my case also sad.gif), so he might asks his staff or "sub" the driver task to other drivers, but the replacement drivers are not that good, so we can see comment & complaint to Pak Bagus' service is "not good". If Pak Bagus is reading this thread, he should be careful when get another driver to replace him because it affects Pak Bagus' reputation if the replacement driver is not doing good job, ppl will blame Pak Bagus because ppl are renting car from him, regardless of who is the driver nod.gif Pak Bagus, u got me? hmm.gif

Hi all. Great forum with loads of information & tips. I'll be heading there mid of May and hoping to see the all those sights mentioned here.

But I'm still undecided where to stay throughout our stay. Not sure whether to stay in Kuta, Seminyak or Legian. But definitely will end the trip at Ubud for some nice rest and relaxation.
*
IMO, stay in Kuta is better coz more happening, have many shops, cafes, discos, massage shops, beach (but very dirty), all walking distance nod.gif Nusa Dua beaches is nicer, very very clean compare to Kuta beach, which is highly polluted.

I disagree. Its not that the replacement driver is bad, but I do think he's under Bagus as well. The one forgetting to fetch me was Bagus, not the replacement. The car which has problematic ac also belong to Bagus himself, so not the replacement problem. I told him get an Avanza before coming to see me the next day. He offered another APV, but I reject. So hard to get Avanza? I rent from the one outside Tune Kuta for 200k/day. Another shop in Jalan BakungSari also offer me 200k. So its not that hard really...

I think he needs better time management. Its not that hard just to tell us that he will find someone else to drive for us, with the promised vehicle albeit in good condition. Maybe he scare if he let his drivers nego with us directly, they will one day open their own company to compete with him. They are all very nice, but seriously, being nice does not mean being responsible. I was lucky as in my case, I wanted to drive from the very first day but my bro doubt the accuracy of the map provided by Navigasi. Luckily I prepare my phone + mobile charger just in case and it proved useful.

Anyway, for those who engage driver's service, I dont think its a bad idea to enquire from at least 2 of them, not for comparing prices, but for the sake of having a backup if one does not deliver or drive yourself.
*
I have to agree with u if u deal directly with Bagus but he forgot to fetch u, that's very serious mistake actually. I also worry he forgot to fetch us, that's why I sent him an email 1 day before we depart to ensure that he will go to airport to pick us and I got his reply. He even went to Facebook to look for my face because I gave him my full name, and he recognized me when we walked out from airport. So far my experience with him is OK smile.gif

Agree with u again, to compare with other drivers and backup their contact in case the driver u engage didnt turn up. But actually no need to worry so much also because everywhere in Bali have taxi, just the matter they are reliable or not but I remember the advice that must take "Blue Bird" taxi, and make sure they charge as per meter, or else negotiate the price first b4 go into the taxi. For day tour service, since we already know the market price is about Rp.300K, then can negotiate with them in Bali.

So, another reminder to those who has arranged/booked transport from any driver in Bali, send them an email or call them 1 day in advance b4 depart to Bali to ensure they remember your booking, and make sure they reply u, this is important whether u use Pak Bagus or other driver services.

BTW, Rp.200K/day is damn cheap tongue.gif u shld share with us the driver's contact nod.gif

Eh, rent car nia, not day tour...
I did thought about taking a supir, whereby Pak Darya (not sure if I got his name right) in Jalan Bakungsari quote me 200k for Avanza + 75k for drivers. Not bad, just top up a little bit for petrol, probably around 50k.

Avanza seem like very cheap there according to the guy I rent it from. Around 55k after conversion. Yeah, blue taxi is cheap. At first we walked so much that we went to massage just after a day. After we discover that most of the short trip is just 5k, we just pay the drivers 10k if its <10k.
*
OIC, I mistaken your Rp.200K is including driver tongue.gif It means Pak Bagus' price including driver & petrol Rp.300K is still cheap coz Rp.200K+Rp.75K+Rp.50K=Rp.325K biggrin.gif Of course the driver must provide good service also nod.gif

Rp5K for short distance is very damn cheap also, just RM1+ nia nia tongue.gif

Anyway, your bad experience and my good experience is good ref for ppl who wants to rent car in Bali, they should take note more things which include price and services nod.gif good discussion biggrin.gif

Did not really take much pics after we skipped Kintamani and Bersakih. We also did not went to the paddy field etc. Really unbearable heat... should have try to spend time in waterbom instead to cool ourself down...

Actually Bali is pretty straight forward... nothing much to do there unless you really want some sun bathing (more like sun burn to me smile.gif). Just spent one day on the north-west side, a day on north-east side, and then you are done liao. Spent another day pampering yourself in Ubud with massage n food, and the final day with Uluwatu+Sunset Diner@Jimbaran. Shopping is really the same. Even on the same street (ie Jalan Legion), the shop keep repeating itself. A lot of shop but mostly the same thing. I cant think of anything to buy as well.

I would rate it higher than Thai for food (but at a much higher price and longer travelling time) but massage is better on Thai side. They do offer Thai massage but not Thai massaga lady. The foot massage by this guy at one massage parlour just near to Tune Kuta is surprisingly good. I thought Im in for a nasty surprise but what a retreat. Sang Spa is not bad but if you are driving, really need a little stretching here and there.

We had 3 times body massage in 1 day, morning, afternoon & night tongue.gif

hi every1, need advise if it will be easy to find car n driver at kuta area last min? cuz my trip only 3days n d places i wish to go mayb only uluwatu n tanah lot.  or mayb not going anywhere just relaxing at beach, so no point to hire a driver in advance?

can find everywhere in Kuta, but you must nego the price coz I asked 1 guy b4, with driver & petrol, he asked for Rp500K, but I just asked for fun only coz that time I already booked transport (Rp300K), so I know he markup a lot. If u take from them, must nego with them until Rp300K or slightly higher coz that's the price we got nod.gif

I was following this thread since v2 to gather info for my trip. Went last Thu and came back this afternoon. Contacted Pak bagus and agree on the itinerary and rate prior departure and it turn out well, except for :

1) Pak bagus was busy, we were given another driver. No issue at all, he was quiet all time, polite and punctual (for first 2 days)
2) our last day catching flight home at 0830, our driver didn't turn up as promised at 0700 ๎–.Attempt to call mobile no given by BAgus fail. The no cannot get through. We took a cab from  hotel to airport and lucky enough to reach within 10mins
3) upon arriving airport, we were shocked to see the super long queue to check in AAsia counter. Only 3 counters for all destination. Start panicking since we were already late and surely will miss the flight if to continue queuing
4) finally decided to check in in one of the kiosk without dropping our bag at the risk of overweight luggage and having my toiletries confiscated.
5) Got clearance towards the end by losing 3pcs of my skin care products weighing slightly above 100ml and board on time. phew....

Thanks to the driver who didn't show up, we both were frantically unprepared for the late arrival, long queue at the check in counter and having to risk of disposing some of our stuff in case our luggage were denied on cabin๎„ˆ๎„ˆ๎„ˆ

Immediately after landed I was exchanging emails with Bagus and to cut the story short, he admitted it was his driver mistake and offer to waive all the charges for free, which we suppose to pay upon our departure. Well, we're glad that Bagus is honest and willing to acknowledge their fault. He was very apologetic and insisted we don't have to pay, despite our insists to ask for his bank details to transfer the payment(partially, at our own wish)

Those who have deal with Pak Bagus can tell he is a nice guy but ppl will still complain about his service if the drive not doing his job...Looks like Pak Bagus really needs to look into this problem because the driver will make his reputation becomes very bad
