You actually have more choices than you thought, namely the Alphacool NexXxos XP as mentioned above,
and the closest rival to the storm, the AquaXtreme MP-05 SP LE, also which has a nickel plated brass top. You probably wont even notice any temperature difference between this and the Storm G4 in regular usage. The only downside is its actually slightly more restrictive than the Storm.

Here don't have those... and I dun wanna go through the hassle AND freight charges of another internet order.

i'm curious whether a G5 pump is sufficient enough to power
An Apogee, MCW60, MCW30, BI GT240 + BI Gt120...
Need advice and comment from pro here...
still in process building my own set...
reason i get a GT240 & Gt120, so i was able to squeeze all in a midle tower case.wit mod of course.

D5 pump issit?

For what you want so many rads? One 240 enuf lar...Even if the pump is kuat enuf.

Waste money.

No point putting in a MCW30 also...that thing damn thin leh....reduce ur flow AND block one PCI-E slot on ur SLI-DR in the process. If you want silent, might as well dump a freezer64 there. Much more effective than water cooling it.

Biggest boo boo of all is that EVEN if you could fit everything inside a mid tower..think of the congestion. The internals will be so darn full of tubings and stuff that airflow will be blocked kau kau.

For example.. with air cooling, my ultra-D's pwm temps never exceed 46C. With watercooling, it shoot up to 60+C....and that's on a very clean unobstructed case.

Hence not just the power ic's that's gonna cook...ur rams are gonna cook...ur vga's mems are gonna cook.

Lastly, the jedi council all voted AGAINST the Apogee. Hehehehe tongue.gif

Whatever floats ur boat then.... it's ur rig.

7. Swiftech Apogee - 45USD - The newest block from Swiftech that takes a step backwards in performance. It is essentially a MCW5000 respun with a new manufacturing process (cheaper), and new delrin top. While Swiftech says its the best thing since sliced bread and Television, please try to avoid it as EVERY other block on this list performs superior to the Apogee.

And that the fact that it's a cost down model and the joint on the top close to the fittings for the barb is extremely thin (read the above review). Even the thick a$$ supposedly bulletproof of my deltrin top cracked...seeing something as thin as that is scary.

My damn MCP350 pump is acting up again. Blardy hell. Stupid Laing says it's an industrial grade pump n blah blah blah with a MTBF of 50000 hours. BOLLOCKS to that!

I use my rig for about 10 hours a day for the past 8 months with the new pump that Corsair sent back to me after the 1st died. That's 240 days x 10 hours a day which comes to only 2400 hours usage time n it's already giving me startup probs.  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif  vmad.gif

Sumtimes when I boot up the pump doesn't startup n I hafta gif it a few taps from under my case n then only the pump starts up. Really fed up lar.

I sense a great disturbance in the Force. Of great suffering...of blocks cracking and pump dying.

Hey guys.. got a quick question here.. Is it possible to somehow mod a Socket A waterblock to fit a socket 939?

I remembered thermaltake's method of rentension bracket, whereby the waterblock will be held with two brackets, one on top of it, the other from below the motherboard, squeezing it so it'll come in contact with the proc. Was wondering if I can do it to this -> http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=297067&hl=

(example of the universal clips are here, http://www.thermaltake.com/watercooling/cl...r/cl-w0005.htm)
Either that, or any other ways? Rather than custom making an expensive bracket for it. >.<
Maybe there's anything I should take note of?
*
But where can you get th TT bracket if you don't already have one

Another thing to watch out for is lateral movements since the bracket isn't fit with the waterblock.

I think the best way is either build a new acrylic top for it or just a custom bracket (why is it expensive?).

Hurm.. ianho quoted me 80 bucks for a custom made bracket. Might be abit too much for me with my current funds. Heh.

If it's possible, I might wanna try to surf through the net, get some info about a few brackets which can be obtained seperately, and well, yea, pretty much gamble here.

DIY lar.. all ya need is a relatively solid piece of steel, a drill and some time.

TWO solid pieces of steel. tongue.gif I'll go around and search for it. Currently thinking of ordering my tools from Bombman already. Well, will see how it goes.

Thanks for the advise. smile.gif

The concept could be something like the attached pic.

Gorek 2 lobang for the barb to poke through....2 lobang for the socket 939 retention whole (which is 9cm apart btw)

And you need just one piece of steel as the 939's stock retention bracket will take care of the bottom half.

V1 wan....

Only visible difference betwee the 2 versions is that version 2 has that extra channels to reduce restrictions. You can see the channels on the looking inside the outlet barbs.
