I just got myself a 4830TG just few days ago. If I'm thinking to overclock my video card, what's the best and easy software to use? Do you have a stable clock/shader speed of your OC to share?

Thanks in advance.
*
yeah, i wud be brave enuff to try in an air-conditioned room. i'd like to OC it a bit from 672/1344/900MHz (stock) to that of GT550's 740/1480/900Mhz. GT550m spec

however, considering the slim profile of 4830TG's, it'd be dangerous i'd say.

3DMark06 test for 4830TG before updating driver:
1st Test: 9229
2nd Test: 9314

Resolution: 1024 x 768
All other option as default.

Let's see if updating the driver will enhance the GPU.

Added on April 28, 2011, 6:53 pmOMG.. i think everything is mess up.. The optimus can't function properly, even though i choose high performance GPU for 3dmark06..

Added on April 28, 2011, 7:08 pmReinstalled the driver with the Acer default one, now working again. Seems like the new one not compatible?  shakehead.gif

Added on April 28, 2011, 7:16 pmIs it possible to overclock the GPU? for example OC 540m to 550m frequency. Any software can do that?
*
keep me posted!! i tried n failed. smile.gif wud luve to have 270 driver installed as ive read dat it's a major update.

Yes, I'm using Nvidia System Tool, OCed more than GT550M.
Graphic clock: 672 -> 800
Memory clock: 900 -> 1020

I've test it with furmark, 3dmark06 and all without any artifact. Graphic clock more than 800 will show some artifact and eventually drive to driver fail.

3DMark Score 9314 from stock clock to 10441 from OCed clock. Another 1000 score improvement!

The temperature max around 75C and didn't go further up. I think its still safe.
*
wah can go even higher than 550m speeds. but no matter, i'll stick w 550m settings. but anyhw. is it possible to OC shader speed?550m's is 740 core/1480shader/900memory. dont have any experience in OC-ing stuff.

Just for you guys info...I had checked my 4830TG mobo chipset revision. To my surprise, it is B2 revision which means it is the Sandy Bridge chipset having the SATA degradation issue. I believe most of the 4830TG early adopters will get B2 rev chipset as me.

However, in the Intel official errata, we can just hooked up HDD to SATA3 port to remedy this problem. The root cause is there is an physical defect on SATA2 port. I used Gigabyte 6 series SATA check utility, found out the configuration is OK. Acer did hook up our 640GB hdd to SATA3 port. So no worries about the SATA issue on our beloved lappy. smile.gif
*
SATA3 6Gb/s eh...wud luv to hook it up w a SATA3 SSD. but the salesperson said, it wud void the warranty if i replace the HDD. sad.gif

i was quite surprised myself. ive worked as a sales assistant at lowyat plaza before, n to my understanding, it's totally ok to replace HDD. RAM definitely can upgrade/change wo worrying about warranty. any1 rajin enuff to call acer sales n services regarding this issue? smile.gif

ur scaring me....T-T....i nvr go below 30%.immediately plugged the power brick.

QUOTE(kelvin_ng @ May 9 2011, 01:00 PM)
mine is still 0.00% wear level. I never discharge until 0% of battery. I always shut off the laptop around 30% level. I think i've just bring out my laptop for twice and about the same level of discharge (>30%) and i'll turn it off.
*
same. nvr discharge to 0%. the least is 30%.

QUOTE(mudster @ May 9 2011, 01:01 PM)
I usually leave it on charge most of the time. Only if I am carrying it around, would I use the battery, and even then, usually at 7.4 to 10mW (IE,  steam, wifi & 60% brightness).

Added on May 9, 2011, 1:01 pmAnd I've never let it drop to 0%, 30% min.
*
same power draw.nvr went lower than 30%. but, i do put it on battery for once a day.
QUOTE(kelvin_ng @ May 9 2011, 03:00 PM)
it is vary how u define "warm".... you should have check with software such as HWmonitor for temperature though.

yup.second dat.its relative.

the wear tear level is 2.4% mine bought at 6th April is still 0.00%  hmm.gif

QUOTE(alucard1412 @ May 9 2011, 09:53 PM)
wear level might return back to zero after you restart cuz it fluctuates...got mine(a43sv) bout 3 weeks ago, there're times it shows about 1% + wear level, but after shutting down and restarting, it goes back to 0 nod.gif
*
hurm...doesnt apply to my lappy. sad.gif no difference after restarts.

QUOTE(theanyung @ May 9 2011, 11:08 PM)
This is scary lol. I've got about 20 discharge cycles already, but wear level still at 0%.
*
waa...u used "scary".. im damn scary rite now.wat shud i do? shud i make an inquiry to highpoint?acer service center.

Added on May 10, 2011, 11:36 amgud news guys. regarding my somewhat "rapid" battery wear level. called highpoint juz now. told them abuot my situation n other 4830TG owners. those dat is still at 0% battery wear level, logically uses the battery rarely.in my case, i use the battery once a day. that wud explain the "rapid" wear level. discharging charging everyday. any how, they said dat, if the battery can only last for 3-4 hours (timelineX only), i can send in my unit to get the battery replaced.applies only to the 1st year of warranty. i'd say dat, i wud reach dat point in about 7 months or so.

@notroxity. mind already done 20 recharge cycle n still at 0% n often time i use it until the 7% batt warning pop up. isnt it weird that ur the only user with that much of a wear level? i would stress them more if i were u.
*
it is weird.im da only one having this much battery wear. when u say stress them more, ur referring to battery usage is it? use it even below 30%? i'd say, ive got nothing to lose since highpoint said, if my battery can only hold a charge between 3-4 hours, im eligible for battery replacement.
