Hi freakfingers aka MIUI expert,

Need your advice....if I want to flash to the MIUI 2.3.3 RC2 ROM, what will be the best and safest way to start?

Do I need to flash to any particular stock ROM via Odin before I start the process below?
Extracted from MIUI thread

Installation:

0: Be sure that you're based on a Froyo FW! CRUCIAL.

1: Load these files:
a) galaxy-efsbackup.zip
b) cm7-galaxys-initial-kernel.tar
c) MIUI RC1
d) speedmod-kernel-k13c-500hz.tar
When he mentioned Froyo FW! Crucial!...does he mean a stock firmware of any custom Froyo rom?...

I'm currently on Criskelo ROM Froyo 2.2.1, can I proceed to flash MIUI directly?

Thanks so much....

I am Fring heavy user, always video chat with my son.. but after few hours not using it, I notice the Fring has been 'killed'.. i know Android needs more memory to run other apps i.e Opera, facebook etc..

Is there any way to keep specific apps to keep running without being killed? I don't use Advanced Task Killer anymore.. after start using AutoKiller Memory

dear all~~ my phone is currently on froyo 2.2.1, speed mod k13.

to revert back to stock firmware, i can use I9000DXJPE (2.2) from samsungfirmware right? YES

need to flash PDa,phone, csc, pit using odin right?YES

or is there any way i can flash back to stock kernel only, not the entire firmware?you want to use stock 2.2 or 2.2.1? using software '7zip' ..extract zImage, create tar file and flash using Odin
*
I answer you Qs with red indicators above, hope other sifus can help too.. for your last question, I recommend you to NAND backup , reflash stock firmware and NAND restore.. less headache and you get back all apps and settings

**Edit: you can download any firmwares from here .. there's a bunch of firmware lists compiled by XDA member

A short review of XXJVK aka "Leaked Offiical Gingerbread"

2. Experience quite a number of apps FC due to not very compatible with Gingerbread ROM yet I think. Will improve over time.
i also got FC on certain apps on XWJVK after restore using MyBackup Pro.. but after uninstall then reinstall, it solves the problem.. i can use Spare Parts, Guerrilla Bros, PES2011, Handset SMS etc.. no FC on any app at all

The only trick for me to keep Ginger JVK fast and long lasting battery is by using AutoKiller app and set to Optimum or Strict.. and ext4 lagfix of course smile.gif

Some conclusion to share for those who are using MIUI
- Script to speedup SD card as recommended by user here
- JQ1 modem which someone claimed has better battery drain than JVK
- modded stock Browser which has UA without about:debug

miui uses what modem?
want to try but so comfortable with JVK gps
*
i've tried JVK, JP5, JQ1 and JPG and the best for me is JPG.. u should try all modems and choose the best one. and yeah, JVK has good GPS. but when using MIUI, i can over clock up to 1.3ghz without freezing. this is fantastic bcoz OC more than 1.12ghz on normal Samsung ROM (darkyy, docs, etc) will freeze my SGS.. and miui framework is just awesome! love it lahh!! happy.gif

i want to test miui too, but scared for the OC part lah. manatau can break the sgs motherboard.  sweat.gif so far how's the battery life for miui? i got barely 18 hours with stock ZSJPJ right now.

oh ya, i saw ur siggie for the iphone 4, why did u ditch him?  tongue.gif
*
you still can choose not to OC.. 1ghz is sufficient. i ni tamak sikit tongue.gif iPhone 4? i used for 2 weeks before sold it to my brother in msia.. happy.gif but still can play around with my wife's 3GS if tangan gatal want to jailbreak, play with cydia etc. i love my SGS (my 2nd wife) wub.gif

oooo i see. but without OC, the MIUI transition will slow right? have u try MIUI without OC? is the smoothness is difference when u oc it to 1.2ghz? well, the only thing i adore with IP4 is the video call for Skype and Facetime, you know. im so jealous when my friend can easily FT with his parents like that, so sad android dont have.  cry.gif haha, better not let your missus know about ur 2nd wife la, surely she will marah u bro.  hehehe tongue.gif btw u're staying in ireland right now?  icon_idea.gif
*
yeah u rite.. stock 1ghz is little bit slow, but when playing games like Guerrilla Bob, i have to reduce frequency to 1ghz.. 1.2ghz will freeze my phone. but for normal usage, i just oc to 1.2ghz.. browsing website with flash contents feels very smooth.. i think burned motherboards are very rare case.. i don't like FaceTime bcoz its limited to iphone4/ipad/macbook only, which means all apple products. Skype? well i admit we are lil bit slow.. blame Skype company tongue.gif .. have you tried Fring? last time i went outstation to Liverpool and can video chat with my wife and son using my wife's fring on 3GS.. at the moment fring supports iOS, android and nokia

yea i'm in dublin, but not too long here. next year sudah balik kerja di Kelantan. Where are u now? what Rom are u using? mind share your reviews?

MIUI has very very bad stock camera. But i try Camera360 and it works pretty good. Here are some samples using Camera360 on MIUI..
