Frankly speaking, despite flashed to Ginger already, it's still not as responsive and smooth as the Nexus S (AOSP) I tried.

Could it be ours were bloated with Samsung stuff?

I'm still feeling the lacked of response on buttons when I touched it. Could it be my screen protector? Last time I start to feel it on Froyo was I thought it was the lag, so most of the time I have to press twice on accessing items from notification bar. Now also can feel that. sweat.gif

Is it the early lags? means that when you want to use the phone the first time from screen off, you feel some jerks or lags swiping screens, opening apps, etc? But after 3 secs, everything is smooth again..
*
Not the booting up lag. Left the phone on overnight, but in Flight mode.

It's the already warmed up use kind of lag. It just not like the Nexus S that I felt. Lacked of responsiveness.

i mean ext4 by Supercurio. in other word , voodoo lagfix .. for Ginger
*
That is not a *voodoo* lagfix yet. It's still under development.

Supercurio said it himself that anything not stable will not be called VOODOO. lol

I think nexus s running on ext4 fs. SGS gingerbread is still on RFS fs. I like to blame on RFS for the lags....  laugh.gif

Good answer! I like to think so too, but her phone wasn't root and without Terminal app. So I can't check to confirm.

Nope. Don't have this problem. You're talking about XXJVK ROM?
*
Yes, that ROM.

Sorry mate, replies have to be brief, using phone now. You know how crappy the forum turns out on our stock browser. tongue.gif

Maybe on of the sperm stuck there? biggrin.gif

No i don't have that problem
*
lol, sperm very depressed, can't find eggs.

I think the icons were grouped in such
LEFT: temporarily notification icons. Email, messengers, app installations, etc
CENTRE: permanent/docked program icons. 3G watchdog, batterystat, etc
RIGHT: system icons. Data connection, signal strength, battery, etc

What do you think?

@Harddisk
where to find the new screen capture apps in gingerbread?
*
Hi yuktsi14 (another trap? drool.gif )
The screencap app is pre-installed with the ROM, just like on our FroYo. Just HOLD back/return key, then press home key (or hold it). If doesn't work, release home key and press again and hold. It should work the 2nd time. Dont worry about calling up Recent App. It captures the screen right b4 Recent App screen was summoned.

BTW, our Recent App still showing 6 apps only. This Samsung, really need to get spanked one! lol

Remember the SPB mobile shell launcher beta last time? Now it is official in the market selling for a whopping RM45.24!!
One thing to add, supercurio tweeted that this launcher is hardware accelerated....  icon_rolleyes.gif
hmm.gif Why I can see pricing in RM now?
*
LauncherPro (v0.8.4) is hardware accelerated as well. Now the 3D drawer scrolling is sooooo smooth in Gingerbread. biggrin.gif

i need help i try to root my gf sgs using z4root but sudddenly it exit the program and the phone feel a bit lag. is it i bricked the phone? what should i do? i try to access root explorer it say not yet root.so i should straight flash to xxjvk or root again or reflash to stock rom?
*
A tip, don't root with z4root.

It sucks, even for FroYo.

If on FroYo, use Speedmod, then goto CWM to root. That 1 much cleaner and it creates all the linking. Eg, if you use adb shell, you can use "cp xxxx", rather than "busybox cp xxx". Which is really neat and nice!

As for Ginger, try this:
QUOTE
* Download CF-Root-XX_OXA_JVK-v2.6-CWM3RFS kernel from here (Busybox is included): CF-Root (Remember to thank Chainfire for his excellent work!)
* Extract and flash the extracted tar file as PDA with no pit and no re-partition.
* Done!

DISCLAIMER: I havent try terminal yet, whether the root programs are linked. Meaning don't need to type busybox to executes them.

it sounds complicated, i think i will just use back shoot me
*
No it's not. It's already came pre-installed with our ROM and running in background as service. Just that, as you use the phone (with many installed apps and configs), it tends to lag.

Android can't set priority to certain programs/services so that their response remained fast.

It's ironic that Samsung's leaked Gingerbread ROM doesn't come with Gingerbread keyboard, but we are stuck with Samsung's lousy keyboard. sad.gif

Yup, installed the GB keyboard already. Just that Samsung keep feeding us with their useless keyboard.

@chris7524: was the Chinese input for Swype good and efficient? Every word was less than 6 letters long. The predictions good?

My Ginger got a battery crap now.

After full charge when phone was powered off, I go delete batterystat from CWM. Then restart phone, it shows 88%, so let it charge.

When I woke up, it showed 100%, so unplug, suddenly it drops straight to 96, then show 95, 94, 93, 92.... stops. doh.gif

The only thing that I don't like about Opera Mobile is the font spacing after zooming in. It... look ugly la, somehow.

Can't remember exactly. Something to do with the notification icon/sound not popup up when there's incoming SMS, if you have your GoSMS loaded and locked your device.
