actually there is... you cant capture sharp photos with low MP right? But skill is much more important...
*
Actually, it is easier to capture sharp images with low MP, because with higher MP you need better lens for it.

Take 18200 for example, it looks ok on D90/D300s 12MP sensor, but looks soft on D7000's 16MP sensor.

Mine is second hand, still in excellent condition. Previous owner seldom used it. I also managed to test out his 24mm f/1.4, 85mm f/1.4g , 70-200mm vr2. Told me he still got 14-24mm at home. Don't know if it's your friend celciuz smile.gif just use it for my cousin's engagement party and now gonna use it for a wedding job. Absolutely love this lens. Really too bad it doesn't have vr.
*
Not my friend's then, cause he sold through an online dealer.

Aiya, even in Melaka there's a photog who uses a Olympus backpack but uses a Canon 7D. tongue.gif. Though he's pretty 'famous' because whenever we see him will be like ah the guy who uses Olympus bag but using 7D xD.

Nothing wrong, but just special in a way I guess.

I use AWB most of the time, only use K or preset when the AWB isn't working correctly.

even though the D90 is an older model & the D3100 is more superior in terms of IQ & ISO but i love it for its controls cos its more like the D300s ...
*
Actually, last weekend was shooting an event. Pretty much considered low light, friend was using D3100 + 70200 VRII. Image looks OK on LCD but when he uploaded to FB looked a bit bad...

Could be due to FB quality perhaps.

I shoot with D700 this time so can't exactly compare the ISO performance with the D3100.

But here's one taken last year with the D90.

Similar condition as my friend's D3100, and the same lens.

How if check histrogram?

I adjust my camera screen brightness "almost same" as calibrated monitor , i mean the image in camera screen almost same as calibrated monitor. now my screen brightness is -2.
*
When I saw 'bad', I'm referring to the noise. Look at the shadows, the noise is quite obvious there. If my memory serves me right, appears worse than my D90 :S. But been ages since I used my D90 so I don't really know haha!
