FYI, that version (MSDNAA) cant be sold one sleep.gif

is vista always aims to fill the physical memory to the most? I see from task manager, the free phy memory is 0. while on the sidebar gadget, I see only 39% of memory utilization... the rest being uses to store apps data?

I hope the next SP release will offer the choice to disable 'calculating time for copy/moving/deleting..' its freaking redundant, and waste CPU time vmad.gif

I don't see any issues there........Actually it was pretty good with 46% of physical memory usage,I don't any problem there........

then how come theres only 12MB free in physical memory??

and have anyone experience longer time for the word explanation to pop up, when using dictionary software such as powerword?

I have checked it, its due to the aero interface, when I turned it off, it appears almost simultaneously

any patch to solve that?

I uses powerword 2006 and also 2007, both give the same symptom

its took longest when I move the cursor over in a webpage body in firefox, while slightly longer in IE, and over the UI is faster (but still slower abit compare to XP)

i have already flash my m/b bios to the latest one...
is there anything i miss out?
is it because of my graphic card? is there a way i can flash my graphic card as well?

please help!
*
check ur RAM modules, try remove 1 GB from them
are u installing vista into a SATA HDD ? I heard that for certain SATA, you need to change some BIOS settings...

I am going to purchased Vista Home Premium OEM after this CNY. Can LYP do installation for u with all the driver i provide? How much will they charge?
*
unless you bring a laptop, normally they ll charge for free... if not, better DIY, its simple and quicker (below 30 mins) for new hardwares

strange thing is, if it was due to my graphics driver, then how come it only occurs several days after I installed my driver?

I am using 7600GS with Vista driver 97.46 icon_question.gif

btw, is the latest bluesoleil 3.0 available? any other bluetooth software supports vista? I keep getting BSOD with the version 1.3x

QUOTE(mzms @ Feb 20 2007, 07:55 AM)
well, I am now thinking of reformating and reinstalling XP back into my disk again. After using Vista exclusively I find that a lot of things don't work well and not Vista compatible like my external drive, Ulead Movie 10, PowerDVD, Nero, my BM-BI/BI-BM dictionary Kamus Dewan, Encarta 2007, and sometimes OpenOffice Writer won't close and Yahoo Messenger (latest) won't start.

Furthermore, my Divx encoder pack doesn't work with Vista and that's a huge bummer.
*
actually Nero got release a latest update to existing Nero Premium 7 users via free download, but you have to get the genuine Nero 7 first. For YM, get the latest version, I think is 8.1b and it should work

Window Vista got OEM version or not?
What is the price for original Window Vista 32 bit and 64 bit?

Added on February 21, 2007, 4:41 pmSorry for asking an idiot question...
I just want to know if i buy an orignal Window and install in 1 pc,
after i change my pc, can it still install in the new pc?
*
OEM version is tied to the first ever PC's motherboard it is installed on. Unless your new PC has the same model of motherboard, otherwise its not possible to activate OEM version on 2 different mobos.
Retail version dont have this problem though

QUOTE(jiant @ Feb 21 2007, 06:30 PM)
may i know the size of the file totally in vista full version?
*
by default the windows directory should be 7-9GB after installation. The installer DVD is 2.5 GB

Does anyone of you here have any problem with DAP and Nero 7 running on Vista, i have tried installing and it seems that it is not compatible with Vista yet. sad.gif
*
get the latest update from nero website, the update is like a vista compatibility version, and is FOC for existing Nero 7 cd-key holders

QUOTE(jiant @ Feb 24 2007, 11:28 PM)
x64 or 32bit for the installer u mention...is it include all version like vista home premium and ultimate?
also
is it 32 bit and x64 version including into 1 dvd?
*
32bit and 64 bit, one DVD for each, with 64bit disc is larger in capacity
64bit available for all editions by Retail

Anybody here using Windows Vista & Sony Ericsson's phone, can you get the Sony Ericsson PC Suite to work?

I've tried Vista RTM version before, and can't get the PC Suite to install. IIRC, it prompt an error that I need Windows XP to install the program.  I've tried running the installer in XP Compatibility mode, but it still won't work.

Since Vista final version has been released (and Sony Ericsson probably has updated the PC Suite to support Vista), anybody can get the PC Suite to work now? I checked at Sony Ericsson's site and it mention that the OS requirements are Windows 2000 SP3/SP4, XP SP1/SP2 (Professional and Home). It didn't mention Vista at all.  sad.gif
*
SE is currently working on next version of pc suite that will be vista compatible, and is due to release in 2nd half of 2007

want to ask, will a directx 10 graphic card make any difference to the AERO function compared to a directx 9 graphic card?
will it be better? my vista experience index is 4.0
*
I think it wont make a difference, even a rm 150 PCI-E cards is enough to run Aero, although with fewer framerates.

Not to mention that you get legal CD-Key.  thumbup.gif
Yup, full version. I'm not sure whether it's retail or OEM version. They're not giving Vistas in Retail boxes for sure. To get the Vista, we must bring your Student ID and a piece of blank DVD. Each student will be given unique cd-key. According to the MS rep, the cd-key is valid till 2012.
*
what the... the keys got expiry date one? I ask them before, they said wont expire doh.gif
the reasons on why its tedious is because they insist on burning the dvd for us...the most time consuming activity
and it should be retail version, but sadly no retail boxes, or else we can see a lot of vista promotions going on LYN and lelong laugh.gif

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Feb 27 2007, 08:14 PM)
my friend tells me that all the vista in the market are ultimate copy inside the DVD.but the difference lies in the product key only, which will then determine the version of vista that's going to be installed. is that true?
i'm asking becoz i've never browse through the disc for home and ultimate.
*
its the same dvd image for all editions, the difference only lies in OEM vs retail and 32 bit vs 64 bit. And it also means that you can try out the features in Ultimate even if you dont pay for it

I know that it must be the other way around but I'm not planning to use vista until I've enough money to upgrade. Actually, I just want to try the new OS.

mzaidi,
Not necessary both of partition empty. Previously, I already have install winxp in drive C:, and some file and folder in drive D:. I have no problem installing vista in the drive D:, and all files and folder previously in drive D: is intact.
*
the files inside Vista partition can be left intact... are you sure?

X360 games are indeed playable using Windows Vista Ultimate version...

my campus had the launch of this windows vista and we were shown demo of X360 game running on a big plasma TV in Windows Vista Ultimate version.........

so wat's that "in ur dream" again?
*
that demo is a video file? have you tried playing it?

I m sure that Bill Gates wont be that stupid to drag himself into another antitrust by sony right ? (if a Vista PC can play X360 games on it)

why an antitrust? it's not like Sony has anything to do with XboX360? It's like you can play DVD on both DVD player and PC.
*
10 yrs ago they have included IE with the installation of win98, last 2 yrs, MS was sued bu EU due to the inclusion of WMP in winXP, forcing MS to release the Reduced WMP edition (called N edition), and now this time will they going to graciously support Xbox360 in a Vista PC?

Am a loyal fan of K-lite mega codec pack with Media Player Classic

But every time media player classic is opened, the Aero effect has to be dropped... any workaround or tweaked version that allows MPC to work well with Aero?
*
go to options -> video output , at the direct show video output there, select any mode other than the overlay and then restart the player.

but generally, overlay help in saving CPU usage, and produce better video, IMO

its not converting to physical RAM entirely, but as a location to store frequently accessed page files, anyway it still slower than RAM for sure
