What brand is the best?

I would say it's a hard pick. I don't have a favorite for SSDs but I really like Intel, Crucial and OWC.

Speed is fantastic. I'm using it on the desktop now since I have too much stuff in the laptop to swap it out. tongue.gif

I get a boot time or <30s everytime now.

And my X-25M is an OEM unit so it's much much cheaper.

if change to ssd won't void the laptop warranty?
*
Not hard drive. Unless of course some manufacturers like Acer decided to lah, simply put a warranty void sticker over the HDD bay screw in their older Aspire series.

They guy I bought it from only sells 160GB version. 40GB and 80GB OEMs are hard to come by.

PC Fair doesn't give that good pricing actually. Even for hardware.

Our dear Marcus also sells it at RM2500. laugh.gif

Maybe the only advantage I can think of in PC Fair is that you can molest it as much as you want before buying and the free gifts. But price wise, not so much.

A lot of them will use the RRP as their stand. But still, I rather go to LowYat Plaza to buy.

You know, you go to LYP during PC Fair period is quieter and sometimes give better offers. Something like my A42JV. whistling.gif

PC Fair price is 2.8k and I got mine for 2.5k in LYP.

The Asus is the most powerful but has a huge price tag.

The HD3000 looks powerful on paper and in benchmarks but it's only more optimized for programs like 3D Marks and PC Marks. In real world gaming, it still lags behind discrete solutions.

Thanks a lot.  =]

Added on May 7, 2011, 8:23 pmErm Last question : is Intel HD 3000 enough for Photoshop & InDesign ?  I don't do video editing and gaming a lot, but I use InDesign most of the time. Can it handle?

Thanks.
*
InDesign runs fine on the older Intel HD. biggrin.gif

I assume you do a lot of design work?
