One question, is the performance boost of the i7 noticeable compared to the i5?
Thinking of just getting the i5 17" instead of the i7 15".
Buying new laptop? Need RECOMMENDATION?, V10, SandyBridge 2nd batch had arrived!! ^^

QUOTE(Grif @ Apr 8 2011, 12:09 AM) One question, is the performance boost of the i7 noticeable compared to the i5? Depends what's ur usage, some engineering softwares or rendering softwares would benefit from the quad cores.. Most games won't have much difference unless they're those console potted ones..Thinking of just getting the i5 17" instead of the i7 15". |

I'm looking for a laptop that I can use mainly for my programming. However, at the same time I wish to be able to multitask smoothly, between programming, gaming, music/vids, surfing internet, and other misc applications including chat messengers.
No acers please. Budget : 1-3k. Any recommendations? P.S. Long lasting battery is preferrable. This post has been edited by Infinia: Apr 8 2011, 10:22 AM |

QUOTE(Infinia @ Apr 8 2011, 11:30 AM) Not too big not too small, I'll be carrying it around campus as well as using it at home. But I certainly don't want a 13" or less. Asus N53Sn, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT550M@RM3299 [Bang & Olufsen] The additional top up will be well worth it because of the much better GT550M GPU (assuming you're a demanding gamer) compared to the usual GT540M This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Apr 8 2011, 11:34 AM |

Cant afford one past that. =\The additional top up will be well worth it because of the much better GT550M GPU (assuming you're a demanding gamer) compared to the usual GT540M Any cheaper suggestion? (I don't mind lowering graphix for games) |

Cant afford one past that. =\ Well, depending on whether you prefer processing power or graphic power more,Any cheaper suggestion? (I don't mind lowering graphix for games) 15 inchers (excluding Acer 5750G): Asus N53Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2799 [Bang & Olufsen] for graphic power, Dell Inspiron 15R, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT525M@RM2699 for processing power. As for 14 inchers: Asus A43Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2599 Asus U41Sv, i5-2410M + Nvidia GT540M@RM2899 Here are some poison from Acer, you should at least take a look through them 14 inch: TimelineX 4830TG, i5-2410M + GT540M@RM2499 15 inch: Aspire 5750G, i7-2630QM + Nvidia GT540M@RM2899 This post has been edited by [PF] T.J.: Apr 8 2011, 11:48 AM |
