For 4GB : EXT4 = 1200MB ; LINUX SWAP : 50-100MB

thanks for guiding. how abt 2GB? how much the partition?
*
For this 2.3 rom, most of the apps are installed in your SDcard. If you required lots of apps, about 1GB for EXT4 and Linux Swap about 50MB will do. So you'll have 900 ++ MB left for storing your very own files like videos, songs, pictures etc. But this is flexible, depends on your own preference on how much apps you need. However, it's a must that all your partitions must be PRIMARY.

Reset your phone. Should solve it.

If you can't reset, take out your SIM card and reset it.

not try 2.3 yet. but on several last DashBlacK released, i got this message after flashing.. alexsync. did this ever occur to you?
*
No, I've flashed all of Mota's and Dashblack's roms, but never encountered this before.

But on official froyo rom, downloaded from KIES, I have this problem and I resolve this by taking out my SIM card and SDcard and do reset.

When flashing either Mota's or Dashblack's rom it is IMPORTANT that you do this in order :

1) wipe data/factory reset
2) navigate to the only "YES, delete all user" option
3) choose "reboot system now" and press the middle button to confirm.

If you miss either of the above steps, you'll get this message continously.

If taking out the SDcard and doing reset doesn't solve the problem, then I think you'll have to re-flash again.

when i install application, it still save in my internal memory...i have to use the madteam app2sd to format right?
*
Did you root your phone? You have to root after flashing.

Did you format after partitioning your SDcard? If you have, you don't need to use madteam's app2sd to format again.

If you have done these 2 procedures, you should have AUTO apps2sd already. That is to say, you just install your apps and they will be automatically stored in your SD card. You don't need to do anything.

*And this is IMPORTANT : DON'T TRY TO MOVE YOUR APPS FROM YOUR PHONE TO SD CARD...as this will disable the auto apps2sd. But it'll show on your phone as stored in your phone memory which is actually is your sdcard memory. This is because this rom uses your partition EXT4 as internal memory instead of your phone's internal memory.

YES ! You have to insert your SDcard when you flash. This is because most of the apps are stored in your SDcard. If not, this rom will not work properly.

do i have to tick anything when root?
*
Just root it. Don't tick the Soft Root as you cannot root temporary for this rom) As for the other which is Generate log, it's optional. But I don't tick it.

haiz.. cant use the apps2sd partition.. may b i'm noob. try using this rom with normal internal memory (106mb) to try its performance. if it's performance is better than 2.0.9, i will stick to this rom. thanks for helping.
*
Understand this Rom :

1) When you flash with your SDcard inserted, it uses your partitioned EXT4 as internal memory. That means to say, only certain apps are stored in your phone's internal memory and most apps are in your Ext4 partition.

2) You try to install some apps and if your internal memory remains constant, that means you already have auto apps2sd working. (for my case, after flashing, I have 145MB as internal memory. And after installing about 80 apps, my memory shows the same, ie still 145MB. Then I installed another 10 apps, and my internal memory shows 143 MB. This means certain apps are being stored in the phone's memory and most are in the Ext4.

i got internal memory around 106 also...and it show my sd card damage again...

Added on May 12, 2011, 1:45 ami was thinking...is it because of i make partition by connected with usb cable? maybe it need to use card reader to do it? juz guess...
*
Use card reader to make partition.

If it shows your sdcard as damaged, use Mini Tool Partition Wizard to restore it.

1) Delete all partitions.
2) Format all partitions.
3) Do your partitions again, ie. FAT32, EXT4 and Linux Swap.
4) Format your SDcard USING YOUR COMPUTER - THIS IS IMPORTANT! DON'T USE MADTEAM'S APPS2SD TO FORMAT OR PARTITION. (I don't know why, I've tried using MadTeam's Apps2SD to partition and format and it never works for me , instead it shows my SD card as damaged!)

Then flash again with your sdcard inserted.

Hi Guys,

The problem is not with Dashblack's Rom 2.3. It's your set-ups of your SDcard and phone :

BEFORE YOU FLASH :

1) Deleted all apps which you have previously installed in your phone. This is because after you've flashed, the previously installed apps will be automatically downloaded to your phone when you connect to wifi or data.

2) Then do a reset.

3) Make sure your sdcard have ONLY THREE PARTITIONS i.e. FAT32 ; EXT4 ; and LINUX SWAP , not more.

4) After you have partitioned your sdcard, MAKE SURE you FORMAT IT WITH YOUR COMPUTER.

5) Do NOT use MadTeam's App2SD to either partition nor format your sdcard.

6) Next, Flash your phone with the SDcard inserted as most of the apps will be installed in your EXT4 which is used as the internal memory instead of the phone's.

For those who have been using either Mota's or Dashblack's Roms, and already have partitioned EXT4, then you only need to :

1) Do as Items No. 1 and 2 above.

2) Format ONLY your EXT4 partition with Mini Tool Partition Wizard.

3) Then flash your phone with your SDcard inserted.

NOTE : This rom doesn't touch your FAT32 partition. It only use the EXT4 partition.

Hope this is of help to you guys. Good luck and Enjoy!

*BTW, I've been using this Rom from Day 1 it was available. So far, I have not encounterd any problem. Wifi, rooting, all are working fine , if not wonderful for me. It's very stable , smooth and fast, the best of all of Mota's and Dashblack's Roms to date.

Hi Guys,

I've just only completed flashing and tested the rom for a friend's G5.

I did according to what I wrote previously here and it's working fine for him.

Details : 4GB SDcard

1) Quadrant Score : 879
2) Partition sizes : FAT32 ; EXT4 = 1GB ; Linux Swap = 50MB
3) Internal Memory Available = 141 MB (After flashing)
4) Installed 19 apps with Internal Memory Available = Still 141 MB (this means auto apps2sd is working)
5) Rooting : Only done once, ie. after completed flashing. Switch-off phone and on back , no need to root again. This means rooting is fine.
6) Wifi : Working, stable.

finally i success! MUST use card reader instead of usb cable thru phone...
*
I'm glad and happy for you that finally it's working for you.

Btw, how much is your internal memory before and after installing apps? Actually you don't need to worry much about this internal memory as this rom
doesn't report Available space correctly in Settings -> SD card & phone storage (it's only reporting the free space in your phone's internal storage, and ignoring the free space on the EXT4 partition).

You can keep on installing as much apps as you like. (For me, I have about 130 apps installed)

i follow all your suggested size but i set 200MB for linux swap...
so far so good, but i realized that my media scanning become slower and slow when i copy file into sd card.
*
Actually you don't need that much for Linux Swap. About 50-100MB will do. Too big allocation for Linux Swap will slow down your phone.
