quote psyke : "ROM Manager does not support our phone yet! Do not try to "force" any functions with it. Support will be added in the near future, after I go through the procedure to have our phone added with the author of ClockworkMod (Koush)."

i encounted my first big issue this morning. Im using CM 7.1 version 05. I almost fully charged my phone last night and went to bed with the alarm on. I did leave the "Use GPS satellites" tab on - Under Location and Security. Woke up with a shocked face. My phone's battery was completely drained and shut down.

Any idea as to why? I never had this issue since i flashed to this mod sad.gif
*
GPS consumes battery....turn it off when not in use. My phone (also using CM v.0.5) fully charged, and after talking (using skype) for 3 hours , I still have 70% left. If leaving wifi continuously on it last for 20 hours. With wifi on (about 1 hour on daily) ...can last for 2-1/2 days.

Added on July 3, 2011, 8:28 pmhmm...each time i try root my phone with this new firmware with universal androot in main page, it sure trigger on the wifi instead of root my phone..at the end, i keep get root fail message..
*
that means the new firmware is incompatible with universal androot? can plz update if u have try any other root apps and worked for this new firmware? thanks, chonkit.

using CM7.1 v.0.7 + hotfix2 .....

http://www.madteam.co/forum/development/%2...alaxy5%27-port/

everything working well, except Radio... fast and smooth....

CWM is much much better than odin... with a few clicks on the phone, you can install update, hotfix, new roms.. and backup any rom versions and restore back...

so the radio still not functioning. Wait till it really stable and then one shot flash. LOL
*
you can now use ClockWork Mod (CWM) to backup your current rom, then use CWM to install the latest cyanogen v7.0 + hotfix4. if you don't like, then use CWM to restore back your current rom.

CWM is easy and convenient to use. with a few clicks on your phone (no more odin flashing), you can change your roms.

latest cyanogen is fast, smooth everything works fine and great except the radio only and just some minor bugs issues.

just curious, so from v0.7 onwards, can only flash using CWM?
*
ya, you're right. psyke has informed that previous roms like v.2.0.9, etc.. will be available for CWM when they have converted them to .zip.

For me.. CWM is much more easier and faster since it doesn't need PC to flash through Odin... Juz copy n paste the files to sd card & flash... However it consumes more space on sd card since the rom files need to be paste to sd card. After flash need to delete the .zip. files to save more space on sd card.
*
ya, you're right... can even change roms while sitting on the toilet bowl with a few clicks on the phone while doing your "big bizness"... hahha (just joking) ... rclxms.gif

So I've upgraded to the official Froyo, but I noticed that the battery consumption is higher than using Eclair. All settings are like when I was using Eclair. Anything went wrong with my phone?
*
that's normal coz' froyo uses more ram than eclair. try using task manager to switch off background apps that you're not using.

i'm not sure about your problem. my other G5 is using the last firmware which is JP6 (i haven't update to the latest yet) and the flash is working ok.
maybe it's the new firmware you're using...

hey guys, long time not been here..recently my phone get something weird.(this is the 1st time it happens though)
I remember clearly i switched off my mobile connection, but it turn on by itself(i guess) and start downloading..as in upgrading my games, software, etc.at first i thought it was my wifi connection but turn out digi sent me a sms telling me I've used my first rm1 of the day blablabla, then only i realised it was mobile connection internet. By then,i already lost roughly rm10. And also,i realised my shortcut,(the mini one at the bottom of the screen) have been replaced. As in not the one i set previously.
Anyone can tell me what happened to my phone? Get hacked or something?
*
it's not hacked. most probably your mobile data is turned on. switch if off and it'll be fine.

go to ->settings ->wireless & network - untick >mobile network (connect to the internet)

root folder means just any place in your sdcard.... just copy the downloaded files to your sdcard...that's all. don't bother to put in any partition.

Now my phone already have 2 partition in my sdcard (fat32 & ext4); if I want upgrade to CM7.1 w/ CWM, what should I do regarding to sdcard, leave it, format it, or join the partitions n format it?
*
don't do anything to it. just leave it as that. after you've installed CWM and CM7.1 v0.5 + hotfix5, EXT4 is requred for mad2sd. to enable mad2sd, use your phone's terminal emulator and type "su" and allow permission, then type "mad2sd on" and reboot. mad2sd will then be enabled.

After playing for the CyanogenMod 7.1 for few hours, i found that 1 function that i like is gone. That is the contact display option. Normally we can go to contact display option to choose either sim, phone or google contact to be display, but now i cannot find this function. Got any solution?
*
go to >contacts>menu>display options - choose from there. however, in cm mod, there is no sim option to display.

install CWM and then back up your current firmware, then after that, you can install cm7 v.0.7 + hotfix5. if you don't like cm7, you can use CWM to restore back your current rom.
