Good Day Sr Aza..

Most of the IPTAs has begun converting their B.Arch to M.Arch starting by this year..
So what happen to B.Sc (Arch)? do they convert it to B.Arch as well?
What happen to current B.Arch holder? do they automatically be equivalent to Master Degree holder.
Tq sir haha..

ohhh...I C.
then, current archi student would be very lucky since can go straight to take M.Arch = part2. rclxm9.gif rclxm9.gif
do u know why eSISRAF acknowledge B.Sc (arch) as equivalent to Bachelor of Science with Honours from other Public Institution of Higher Learning? I think becos of dat, B.Sc (arch) is not recognize by Public Work Department (JKR) as architecture field and hence no post for de graduate.

wut say u Sr Aza? hmm.gif hmm.gif

If u graduate with B.Sc (Arch) n try to apply in JKR..they will say there are no post for B.Sc..
to be an Architect you need to have B.Arch (part 2)
to be a Tech. Assistant Architect, you just need dip. Arch (doesn't necessarily part 1)

Am i rite??

i'm pretty sure JKR don't have that position right now...
maybe you can check with them Sir Aza since UTM will start offering B.Sc on next semester...

like i said before, it's very unlikely that they dont have that position (architect assistant) in JKR, as the BSc (part 1) have existed very, very long time ago. USM and UiTM started the BSc in the 80s.

most likely they gave the position a different title. we all know nobody likes to be called "assistant" to anything when u got a degree wink.gif.
*
If i remember correctly, last time JKR did offer an architect position for even B.Sc Architecture graduate. But in early 00s, they strictly allowed only B. Arch with LAM part 2 to become architect. i'm quite surprise that Sr Aza didnt heard /know about this before sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

there's no more auto-recognition. so it will most probably hinder new students from going abroad. but for students who're already there like you, it's not a big deal.
*
wow...no more auto-recognition from LAM..i tot we are following their mode of arch's studies..still remember last time, back from UTAS automatically recognize as LAM part 2 hehehe

any reason why they revert back???

for BIM (building information modelling), it's more about using software to integrate practice with other professions, from the design by the architect to civil engineering to building contractors. my research on BIM is mostly on design authoring and building performance simulation. it's important, yes. but because it's one of the emerging technologies nowadays, many still do not see the relevance of BIM. as a comparison, singapore converted their practices to virtually 100% BIM by 2012. it reduces cost and make the works more time efficient. malaysia still have a long way to go, which is why im quickly cementing my foot in it for the future run wink.gif.

wow..didnt know that u are doing research on BIM..not so many Dr. doing research on that topic I guess as i'm also interested on that topic thumbup.gif thumbup.gif
may i know do UTM offer BIM as part of their course in Architecture?

very interesting discussion indeed..do BIM have something like library or database system where we can share the modelling information that being done by somebody else? just like sketchup with their 3Dwarehouse..

it highly depends on how well u performed in school. architecture is a close-knit community, and most of the time we know each other quite well. meaning what u did in school will echo through the industry, and most firms would always keep an eye on high performers in school. coming from a good school also a bonus, as reputation means there's a better tendency that the graduates are very capable designers.
*
i couldn't agree more..most of the firm will ask 'from which uni u are graduated from'..maybe because most of the senior architect in Malaysia were coming from that particular Uni..

by research? perhaps. but there's a number of subjects that u needed to take during the 1st sem (research method etc). but i believe the rest is between u and ur supervisor. most of the lecturers in our school are involved in UTM KL quite often. so if u select them as ur supervisor, u can meet them in KL instead.
*
yea..i heard that too..i think 3 months of traveling between KL-JB is still acceptable hehehe...how bout U??u r one of the eligible supervisor in UTM rite..since im interested in BIM related technology, u might be my best option so far.. notworthy.gif notworthy.gif
