like a building? masterpiece is a big word that architects avoid. the saying is, ur work will only can be considered as a masterpiece AFTER you die lol. and even so, there's no guarantee it's THAT good haha.
Thanks! Fallingwater or Kaufmann Residence is beautifully architected. Are there any Prominent International Architecture Prizes (PIAP)? sweat.gif

Just curious! In the world of Engineering, we have Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, and CES Innovations Awards. icon_idea.gif

Hi guys, I'm not studying architecture, but Environmental Science/Engineering. I'm looking for a good place (online/book?) to learn more about energy-efficient architecture to complement my curiosity.
Perhaps you'd like to visit this website. icon_idea.gif

no idea. we are so far away from implementing it at large scale. at the moment, only the big players use BIM. but even so, the other consultants, particularly QS and engineering have yet to embrace it. so currently it's being driven primarily by developers, and young architects (who learned BIM in school).
I'm curious because Autodesk describes BIM is an intelligent model-based process that provides insight to help architects plan, design, construct, and manage buildings and infrastructure.

Can you briefly explain what BIM really is? sweat.gif

BIM - Building Information Modelling.
hope the video explain...
Thanks. That gave me a rough idea what BIM is.

QUOTE(azarimy @ Nov 1 2014, 10:49 PM)
with BIM, everything is handled digitally. in fact, before the dwg is submitted to the engineers, the software can tell u that u need 6 columns rather than 4. it can tell u long before the QS looked at the dwgs that the building will cost RM20mil. in fact, it could tell u it'll cost RM19,899.53 to the very brick.
That's a very cool intelligent feature in the BIM software. With advanced BIM, engineers may become obsolete in the future. sweat.gif

Sketchup can produce nice visualizations, but with revit u can do a presentation style AND working drawing in a matter of clicks!
Have you ever participated in architectural design competitions? happy.gif

Yes, a few during my student days. Ive only won once though, in 1999.

Nowadays i supervise my students into competitions. Most professional design competitions have higher requirements (must be practicing, must be built, must pay fees etc), while students competitions are generally free.
How would you describe the standards of success in Architectural Design? icon_idea.gif
