o.o my roommate finished the game in 32 hours

Finished the game in less then 25 hours.
EXTREMELY DISSAPOINTED.
This is NO WHERE CLOSE TO DA:O

What i hated the most is the maps, is Bioware dev too lazy to make complex Epic Dungeon.
Talk about repetitive playing.. It was fun at first, but until the final you play in the same area and somewhat same kind of enemies makes it damn boring.

There in no "adventurous" feel to it like DA:O where u travel to new places and expect the unexpected.

After 5-10 hours in, it bored me..the 1st ever bioware game that ever bored me!!!!

What happens if you don't help Anders in Justice quest?

I haven't gone far enough in the story, but I'm suspicious he's gonna be a main villain

2nd playthrough.. already finished the game this morning.. never met her or fenris lol

Since i am using a two handed warrior on my first playthrough, i didnt even use fenris once.
Just finished the game btw. The final boss is abit......underwhelming... Not as epic as DA:O

u need to do athenril's side quest, which means u got to choose the smuggler instead of the mercenary band.

fenris is a b****, if u wanna have him u cant have mage in the party, and thats ridiculous
u will offend him if u try to protect apostate

Okay this is very annoying

So Bioware removed Healing tree from Merrill so we are mostly (unless you are mage) stuck with Anders, then we can hear Anders whine the whole game until we understand why he would do that final act There has to be better ways to move the plot without forcing us to put up with that annoying companion restriction.

Anyone also thinks that Arishok can 1v1 Meredith?

EDIT: didn't like the story at first... but when you think about how they weaved the individual plot points to combine into that unfortunate conclusion, it's really a nicely done story.

My companions were mainly Varric, Bethany, Anders and Isabela. Didn't take Aveline along much. I had Bethany as my main mage till that b**** died so I HAD to take Anders.

Two rogues, my warrior and one mage. Else my usual standard would be two mages, one range and one tank.

Mages are and always OP. LOL.

@mekboyz : i got sebastion on the 2nd chapter... after u finish the deep roads expedition... he will give u another quest about his family which will lead him to join u...

i bring isabella to the mission "haunted by varric

that damm isabella scream wen see ghost scare the hell out of me. lol

Finished the game not long ago. I like the fact they had that rise of tevinter imperium rise and templar political thingy shit and anders blowing up the chantry. What I hated was that the final boss was all flying around and shit. I would have liked the Arishok as the final boss better. All in all, it was a wee bit too easy this game.

Can't compare DA2 and DAO cause it's DAO hands down. Bioware really disappointed big time.

Finished the game yesterday, with all party members surviving . Sided with the mages in the final battle.



BTW, did anyone else kill the High Dragon? One of the few fights in the game that is actually harder than its DA:O counterpart IMO.

I shed manly tears on that chapter.

I played it on a harder difficulty bro and I found a bug accidently that you can level non stop and get infinite money. The higher level you get, the difficulty of the game also harder.

About the high dragon, It's the hardest in DA2 but non compared to DAO. Mage is imba in DA2. Just spam skills and everything around will die.

was the story a good one guys? I'm thinking of picking this up...and with the high res pack it looks pretty good...the story though is more of a deciding factor for me...what do u guys think about the story? DAO was pretty straightforward but epic...Scorpion King has big army of anubis...call some medjai to help defeat the army and finally 1v1 with Scorpion King to save the world...made u feel like u made a difference...what about DA2?

Read the previous comments. Everyone has their own opinions about the story and gameplay. For me, I found it was a very disappointing game for all its hype. Disappointing is the word for me.

Damn....the story was revolving more toward kirkwall's internal politics rather than fighting with darkspawn, i know that the archdemon is dead but there's still remnant darkspawn scattering all over the place. I'm kinda disappointed with the storyline though

Anyone managed to become Viscount? Supposedly the criteria was:

1. Friendly with Cullen
2. Told Alistair you wanna be Viscount (confirm??)
3. Side with Templars in final battle

it pisses me off knowing that 2 of my companions caused the deaths of so many innocents. thank god i got to f*ck them up

anders and merill?

eh i just realized merill is a temporary companion in dalish elf origins.
i never played dalish elf origins so i dunno.

first, the story is near/completely different from the DA:O. with only slight reference to the DA:O story.
second, the gameplay have been completely overhauled. So ppl, who played DA:O. U feel that is been dumb downed cos they are no longer following D&D system.

My review, DA2 is a mix reaction
inventory system simplfied, companion inventory prefix :facepalm:
skills/spells tree replace the old system
combat feels more violent and fast. some say dumb down to hack and slash.
graphics improvement
more empahsise story and choices
spend most of the time in kirkwall and surrounding (similar to baulder gate)
lots of backtracking, reuse of map/textures from the DA:O, very limited enviroment changes.
and alot easier.

The Anders one can be prevented though, while Isabella's you can only influence its conclusion and whether she stays or not.

Siding with Templars gives new info:

First Enchanter Orsino is responsible for Hawke's mother's death.

i just gave her up to the qunari. her reaction was priceless. nobody f**ks with me. HAHA.
and are you sure ander could be prevented? cause i read in the bioware forums that its unavoidable.

Yeah agree that Isabella's irresponsibility is somewhat irritating, but since she came back to return the relic it's all good

I don't have a problem with the hack and slash style cause i started playing RPG hack and slash first back then. Just the story that it focus more on the political part. It was nowhere near being about battling darkspawn. What about the architect from Awakening? How come he never came back?

I just thought that the impact of choices you made in DAO will affect DA2 more, like I let Branka live and she made a heck load of golems and maybe I might battle her or some shit. It didn't make much difference having imported my story to DA2.

Well the game story it self does not talk much about the Warden of Ferelden, and is more about the Champion that rise to power, and you can see that if you side with the mage, is all chaos and wonders

i lost my bethany early game even before level 3 since she's not meant to stay for a mage champion
then i lost carver in the deep roads since he's made grey warden
need to change NPCs etc etc

use anders as ur battlemage lah
he's my imba healer and damager
get him to drink maker's sigh


with me as AOE and perma-lightning and healer, i use fenris as tank and varric as stunner
even dragons cant defeat my party

I did that exactly, If you bring Ander together with Betheny/Caver, they wil be grey wardens.

Just finished my first playthrough on normal. My companions are Varric, Isabella and Merril. It's harder since have to rely on potion and no warrior as tanker (I'm a DW rogue). But the battle become more interesting.

Also, I didn't know that I can have to lovers at the same time. hehe. I'm using a fem Hawke and in a relationship with Isabella and Merril at the same playthrough. (no 3P only 1on1)

Bethany/Carver, Anders and Merill is the only people i know that change appearance.

Just reloaded my save game siding the templar to see the ending. Did anyone notice Zevran during the battle with Meredith? I paused while issuing commands and saw him killing Meredith along with my other companions. Why the heck was he even there?

if you side with templars, the grey wardens Nathaniel howe and zevran will join in the battle.
i dun see either of them when i side with mages.


i guess this means that the grey wardens approve if you side with templars.

I completed the game but didn't get the Nathaniel quest... Instead I got the quest find the 3 brothers in the Deep Roads.

Nope. I started from DA2 scratch.

Anyway overall the DA2 story is not bad, but it could definitely be better. I was expecting to become Viscount during the game, not AFTER. The end of Act 3 should be a whole new Act in itself (where we can participate) instead of just mere narrations.

Or maybe they should switch Act 2 and Act 3 around. The Arishok was definitely a better antagonist than Meredith imo.

So how will the story go if you didn't help Anders to complete his companion quest? Anyone tried that?

Well, I saw both Liliana and Zevran in my playthrough...And zevran appear in the final battle. Not sure where is Liliana =/

Yeah that we sooo random... he was just a sidequest story, tiba-tiba helping us in Final Battle.

To have Nathaniel and Donnic to fight together with you for the final battle is acceptable but to see Zevran there was just WTF. Might as well have Alistair, Leliana and Flameth too since they appeared in the story before.

Going to reload my save game again and try siding mages, keeping Anders by my side and see who will appear during the final battle.

Find that the final battle is so much easier compared to the fight against the High Dragon, Arishok and that Golem boss in the Deep Roads.
