After some experimenting, I noticed Auto Sync + HSDPA drains my battery the most. So now I either use 3G only, or turn off Data Packet (only turn on when I want a connection).

Any app to see how much battery is used by live wallpapers, widgets, apps, etc?

Colordict. Can install individual dictionaries depending on your preference. English, English-Chinese, English Thesauraus, etc. Remember to de-select the 'Translate' and 'Wikipedia' dictionaries as they use data.

Hm, i noticed apps like dictionary/news weather/navigation/location/google maps/voice search ALL require packet data charges? When i disabled packet data none of this is usable... sad
*
Dictionary/navigation got offline alternatives. Location no comments, probably using tower triangulation, so might not take up data. Voice search requires server processing, no choice. News/weather are always updated, don't think you want outdated news and weather forecasts, right? smile.gif

No data plan means you might miss up some things, not to mention real time syncing of your contacts, notes, calendars, tasks, etc. But not everybody needs it.

what are the common problem for this phone now?

many user's complaint of "SOD" or a sudden shutdown of their ACE..(tat is wat i can see here)

how's the battery life for an average user like me ? (FB,Twtr, games & browsing once in a while)

i oredi find a good bargain (rm899) in subang area for this SGA, just wanna find out its performance (i am an android 2.1 user myself)

tks for sharing info wink.gif
*
Problems:
1) SOD (not fixed with new firmware)
2) Wifi cannot connect (haven't seen this reported for some time, maybe fixed)

Depending on what Android phone you are coming from, the Ace can be either a cheapskate phone (light, plasticky) or a godsend.

Can't make decision to buy the case

Imak Leather Case

Nillkin Ultra Thin Matte Case

Between the Imak leather and Nillkin Ultra Thin Matte Case which is better?
If I continuously flit into the Imak Leather Case, will my phone side being scratch or side colour damage?
*
The Imak should not scratch the phone, there should be some soft lining inside. But from the pictures, it fits the iPhone4 perfectly, while Ace is slightly wider, not sure if it will fit as well.

Nillkin looks good.

However any1 know how to change dockbar icon? I want to remove standard messaging icon.
*
Go to the app drawer, press menu, select Edit. Now you can move the app icons around. You can also drag the Messaging icon to the app drawer, and put another icon in its place.

i just want to remove standard icon from the dockbar and replace it with my preferred apps..

i think the only way to remove default icon fr dock is to use Launcher Pro or ADW Launcher.

I'm using Launcher Pro, it's easy & good.

Hi,

Just got a call from sen heng guy tto collect my ace after 5 days of booking.
But when reading all the problem the SGA owners had encountered its really freakin me out.
It sems tha main issue are WIFI an SOD.
Not sure whether want to proceed to collect the SGA or not sweat.gif
*
Been running 105 hours (4.3 days) without restart. Use wifi at home and data outside. No wifi problem and SOD thumbup.gif

But, I suggest you buy Galaxy SL, or Acer Liquid Metal, or SonyEricsson X10. Top up one or two hundred only. Much better phones.

CONFIRM no GORILLA GLASS! you can try it out on your beloved phone. I recommend everyone to get a screen protector for SGA.
*
Try what out? Scratching with knife?

not on a gorilla glass surface phone that's for sure, I've been changing phones too frequent and one thing for sure you don't see sscratches on my milestone and x6. Somehow in my personal opinion the old batches of SGA might not have GORILLA GLASS. Previously i was looking high and low from various sources and even xda mentioned that the phone does not have GORILLA GLASS on it. It's only recently GSM is updated that ACE is with GORILLA GLASS.
*
Well, that's possible. Earlier batches also don't have 2 back covers. Actually can identify Gorilla glass right? It's very smooth, very slick.
