Not so fast as intended, the reviews from some fans saying that gnome 3 not really user friendly or in other word still buggy and need to be fix. In fact the current gnome shipped with this 11.4 is 2.32. Gnome 3 is still the preview version.

We'll see if tumbleweed would offer any option to upgrade to gnome 3 when the stable version released into the repo. drool.gif

hmm.. seems to have issue with my onboard hd4250. graphics and windows movement feels rough and edges were jaggy. hope change to proprietary driver will solve it.

..and have issue with SB audigy card.
it work fine on linux but when i boot into windows the card wont work anymore.
sound only came back when i replace it to other pci slot and reinstall driver. i dun really understand what happened btw.

I don't have much complaint about this release, but the font renders not so good as before. FF4b need to be downgrade to 3.x as some flash contents not displaying correctly.

during my experimentation with linux i went from redhat --> mandriva --> opensuse --> ubuntu

I have been using ubuntu for a good 2+ years now. However, looking at it as of late, I have become disheartened by how the development is going. They seem to just pile features into Ubuntu without fixing bugs. Unity looks a mess.

I am thinking of switching to either opensuse or fedora. However the most missing key feature of ubuntu is their software repository. I know how to compile, but it is a pain in the ass. I know fedora and opensuse have rpm and yum respectively. but how common and widely used are these packages compared to deb.

For many years, now I am giving this KDE 4.x a try and want to see how long it would survive without giving me the 'ladybug' icon.

Why don't you give the hardway a try.
The same goes to nvidia proprietary driver, we are requested to install 32bit compatibility driver to make everything working.

yeah im using the hard way. seems working fine with just x64 driver. still have yet tried x32 wine apps though (well i dont really need wine anyways).
the graphic issue solved, but the sound card still problem.
this is new rig, i dont know wether it was my rig, or opensuse specific or linux problem. hmm.gif

haiya.. every time boot linux then need to re socket my audio card plus reinstall driver when entering windows. this is madness!!

Just enabled the gnome 3's repo for opensuse 11.4 by adding this http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/.../openSUSE_11.4/ into the add repo. Downloading and upgrading took about 15-20 minutes depending on how fast of you connection are.

1st impression, buggy and ugly especially the fonts, not recommended at this earlier stage of integration. I am returning to KDE .

Added on May 8, 2011, 9:43 pmBump for the news, suse's lovers your 11.4 font renders must be ugly especially in foxy. Now the repo is going to be too good to be resist http://opensuse-community.org/SubpixelHinting rclxms.gif
