Let's say I subscribe to the RM 10 for 10 days mobile internet.  How do I phrase this...Do they charge the data in blocks?  E.g. for a particular session, you use only 0.5 MB but it is counted as 1 MB for that session.  Or is the MB count 'continuous'?

~ Penny Pincher ~

I've been using the 10 days pass since last Friday.

The usage count from maxis shows a lower value than the data counter on my phone so I believe it is charged on a continuous total rather than blocks. That is normal for passes and subscriptions. It is the pay as you use that is charged in blocks and becomes killer charges.

Do you get the problem of RM1.00 being deducted from your account initially when you connect to internet, and later refunded back to the account after you ended GPRS connection?

I notice whenever I connect to internet, they would charge me RM1.00 (even though I'm on data plan) but sometimes they didn't revert back the RM1.00 to me.
*
After checking, yes I found sometimes RM1.00 is deducted. So far, it has always added back for me.

I would advise all not to switch your phone off immediately after data session.

10 days 75MB = RM 10

I used this 10-day pass and it suit me fine for light browsing, check email, news, lowyat, msn messenger.

My first pass expired yesterday, Maxis sent an sms one hour before expiry and again at the actual expiry time. This assumes you do not exceed the quota. Otherwise, the pass expires once your usage reached 75MB. My usage came to ~57MB based on Maxis counter. I'm using UC browser on my phone.

Quite satisfed with this service and the price. I'd been using DiGi Prepaid daily or weekly until now, but that was too expensive to use continuously every day, although the quota higher, plus the auto-renewal is really ma fan cos I had to keep cancelling it. There is no auto-renewal with this Maxis pass, you just request another one when you want it.

Hi guys, is the 365 plan still working??? my 365 recently expired and i'm waiting till my due date before activating 365
*
I believe it's still available provided you stay on the old Basic or Extra plan. From what I recall, Maxis adds the one year onto your existing expiry date anyway, so maybe you don't need to wait.

about the New Hotlink Plan, i want to highlight the information below that appears on Maxis Forum now

after your credit expired, it seems there is 50 days grace period, but if you do not top up within 30 days any leftover credit will be forfeited

this sounds very like the old Hotlink plan from ~2004, except then the overall grace period was 90 days

Maxis seems hell bent on grabbing our credit and terminating our line

You are still able to receive call and SMS during the grace period. It will remain active for another 50 days from the day of deactivation. E.g: You top up on 01/01/12 for RM10; it will be valid until 10/01/12. Your credit will still remain in your account for another 30 days (09/02/12) and will be forfeited if you did not reload. You will be given another 20 days until 28/02/11 before the line is expired and will be disconnected.

Seems fishy. Those mentioned above is not written on their website right?
*
Many things is not mentioned on the Hotlink website, especially they still do not quote the reload validity period

50 days grace period is mentioned, but not the 30 days credit forfeit

And when I call 122, it announces 90 days grace period, and 50 days before credit is forfeited

But the grace period is confirmed as 50 days when I check balance under *122#

Indeed my old number terminated after 50 days, which I let happen since Maxis tricked me into this so-called plan upgrade

Hotlink really in a mess these days

yes the latest new hotlink plan it is RM10 for 10 days

after that, got 50 days before the line is terminated (losed the number)

but after 30 days, any credit remaining will be forfeited

Hotlink 365 not available

to maintain the validity, you might consider top up RM100 (for 100 days), and then "sell" the spare credit to friends under Share A Top Up

Thank you dgboy.

Maybe wrong place to ask, but are there any carriers with cheap + long life plans ?
*
DiGi Best prepaid still have SuperLongLife @ RM30 for one year

Umobile prepaid give 300 days validity for RM100 topup

Tron, which is MVNO using DiGi network, offer one year of validity for any topup amount or even credit transfer

Im using iphone and I activated the 1 day RM8 500MB already. But it is still charging me usage for GPRS.
*
your statement suggests that you did not renew the RM8 daily package

after 24 hours it lapses, and you will be charged pay as you use (PAYU) rates if you do not buy another pass

that's why the PAYU charges started on 23 Jan, 24hrs and 10 seconds after you subscribed on 22 Jan

The code is *127# and that is only for SMS to Maxis-Hotlink numbers

As far as I know, it does not work for other plans
