Better do Radio S-Off..well, i think you need to do that step before can flash any custom rom, after rooting that is, ENG S-Off that is optional

Yes, DHD can update to the latest OS ..but as the official ones is yet to be release (might be in June)...

4.3" is sure a plus but 8M camera is not that satisfactory (well, for me that is), still loses to iP4 camera but DHD is customizable

What's your budget anyway?? ..well, DHD is one of the best android phone there is, but battery life is not that impressive (stock rom lasted for 24 hours top)..as for SGS, the main problem would be the lagness (before you applied the lagfix)...others are not that impressive (same boat of phones that is)...

Why not try and look at the newer ones like :

1. Motorola Atrix
2. Samsung Nexus S

Others?? Dunno LOL...

Just follow syuki guide, that's the simplest guide there is ...

Go to bootloader,

1. Take out battery & then put back in
2. Hold volume down button & press power button
3. Bootloader appear, choose recovery and press power button
4. walla, you are in CWM mode

The bootloader should be there iinm, its the recovery..if he did not flashed the recovery yet then its quite problematic..the only way is to run through ADB then

Ya, the guide in XDA is actually for the first ever Radio S-Off & ENG S-Off..already got tools to make the steps simpler ...

...then what can i suggest you is...flash 1.3.5 first (if you still can find it) then you flash 1.3.11 on top of it ...i flashed 1.3.x before and got all chinese language ..but 1.3.5 should be no problem

1.3.5 got no problem with eng ..before got , tested before and actually i reported the problem to the dev

Did you enable always on mobile data?? because if you off it totally then you are actually got no mobile data connection ...when you received your MMS, got G/E/3G/H sign on top of screen??
