bro compare this one with sgs

478 ram vs 512mb rams
sc-lcd vs amoled
GPU sgx 530 vs 540
internal memory 4gb vs 8/16gb
1650mah vs 1500 mah batery

other thing i think is same ... now days ap set of 8gb sgs is 16xx so i dun think it really a worth ur money .... if rm1399 o 1299 then it will best

hello,

you wrote: "Usually application, including live wallpaper, are distributed in .apk container. You would just have to drop the .apk and run it from the phone. Again, usually we don't drop any .apk into the device directly. We just use Google Market to get anything we want. It's an app which gets app. laugh.gif

Anyway, if you're going to get SGS SL, that is GT-i9003, a different model. You may also participate here: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...=40555837"

1. meaning, I plug my phone to PC via cable and the the app in the phone will talk to android market over the net? secure? no virus that will be d/loaded to my phone since it's direct.

2. also, my friend gave me a few .apk files - live wallpaper, so how can i download these to my phone?

3. u have SGS or SL? I am waiting for the Neo before I decide on SL. I like Samsung because of its design. SE has the 3 silver h/w buttons which looks a bit cheap ;-P. Anyway, hope SL will get 2.3 soon. Oh yes, so if I do get SL and it has 2.2, how to upgrade to 2.3 - use KIES? Also using cable? Sorry, not much wifi spots around my area - so i do all in office - phone-->cable--> pC.

thks!!!

1. You don't have to connect to PC to download apps. Google Market will use 3G or wifi connection. Security wise, there are occasional troublemakers who published malicious apps. Not a big problem as each time you download an app, Market specifies what permission would be granted to the app. Just use some analytical thinking and download your trusted apps, that would be good enough.

2. Put them into your phone's internal SD or external memory card (if you have one). Then tap on the .apk file

3. I have SGS i9000. Gingerbread 2.3 is still in testing stage, not for daily use yet. If the firmware is available, you would use cable with KIES.

If you do not have wifi usually, do get a data plan. No internet = boring phone. Note that Android phone do not reverse tether internet connection unlike Windows Mobile device. (your phone won't get internet connection by connecting to PC) laugh.gif

1. so, u mean i browse android market using my phone and then do a download of the app via wifi, right?
2. what about .apk files - live wallpaper i have on my pc, how to transfer to phone and run it since they are not from android market?
3. if u see here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_98hu6J90Bs (the last part) where they show the live wallpaper, how did he manage to place in wall paper as part of the selected items. Usually, in other phones, i need to go to that particular folder, open folder, view picture and then select as wallpaper....many steps. But here, it quickly go into wallpaper selection. Just wondering, the android phone smart enuff to detect this file is a live wall paper and know where to store it?

thx

1. Yes
2. Transfer using cable. I can tell you other methods of transferring without cable but you'll get confused.
3. I haven't watched your youtube link but indeed, just install .apk and the new wallpaper will be listed. The phone isn't smart, it's the programmer. The .apk has manifest XML file which tells where to put the files and everything. Long story:D

Saw this model on newspaper today, its on celcom broadband data packages ad. Galaxy SL = RM818. Not sure for which data plan but the price slashes from RRP of RM1699.

Best thing is this time celcom decided to bring this phone in. So I'm thinking of getting their exec50 plan with 1gb nternet access.

exec50 with 1gb internet if i'm not mistaken is RM88 per month, and the phone price at RM1,199, to be honest, the price is a bit steep for it...if fork out slightly more u can get GTi9000 at digi already

That's the thing, I can't accept another telco anymore. My bro had enough pain trying to live with maxis contract with his sgs. Yes digi is cheap but its the 3g coverage we're worried bout. Too stupid of celcom for not bringing enough android line up. Hope next celcom will bring tab 2 n sgs2.

i'm surviving with maxis for my SGS as well sad.gif DiGi's coverage is a bit area dependent i would say, if you need constant 3G connection most likely your best choice will be celcom or maxis.
tab 2 and SGS2? slowly wait la har laugh.gif
