From Google translate..The 1st words = Spring Myeongdong & 2nd Myeongdong.

meaning Spring in Myeondong kua? can be winter in Myeondong too..

Myeongdong is right in the heart of Seoul. No sure any other Myeondong other than Seoul. I stayed stone throw away in between Myeondong & Namdaemun.. Every morning will be at Namdaemun & every nite at Myeondong haha

The roaming is only once, unless you call back & ask to cancel. Once activated, your nxt destination will be automatic. That's why your Thailand is automatic haha

No matter in our currency or foreign currency, they still print-out the same value-lah..No matter you pay id AUD, Won or RM, The amt is still the same.

The only diff is AAX food is more expensive than AA for sure. Nasi Lemak Pak Nasir = RM10 via AA is selling ~ RM18 in AAX (Online booking pricing. If on the spot much more than this), If you want to pay in AUD or Won, just request them you're paying using AUD/Won & etc

Sigboard not to worry. All comes wth English just below every korean words. Communication yes abit difficult but certain area such as Myeondong & even hotels, the receptionist & Sale girls are able to speak mandarin. Well, if you use hokkien (or lesser mandarin) to speak to those Korean sellers, they can understand abit as well bcos lotsa similar sounding hokkien words in Korean..such as their counting system for eg..for payment ..let say 12,000 won..they pronouned it

Sip yee bang .....similar hor....like a mix hakka-hokkien.. biggrin.gif ..Hokkien Chap ji bang.

learn abit of Korean should be OK.

Hi im travelling to seoul next week with my family.
We did not book a tour. Just wanted to go free and easy.
My concern is language / sign boards / transport.

I heard that there are limited english signs and most koreans do not know english. we only know mandarin and english. any advise on travelling, ordering food and bargaining during shopping .etc ?? how do 1 overcome the language barrier....

I did activate my Oversea Maybank Withdrawal & I tried 2 banks at Dongdaemun i.e Citibank & Standard Chartered...All failed sad.gif
QUOTE(rsralf @ May 20 2011, 01:33 PM)
to use maybank atm, you need to activate for withdrawal in korea prior going there (call to maybank & inform the period of your travelling to Korea so they activate it for you) . if you don't activate it, then you won't be able to withdraw.
You can withdraw at the atm machine with "global atm" sign.. easy to find in Myeongdong area..

3G phone will be able to do roaming here.. but  please turn off your data roaming function to prevent incurring high cost..

Banks always having bad rate.. Goto those Money changers in town. Suprisingly Wawasan at mid Valley dun really qoute good Won..Goto those fronting Bkt bintang Plaza, Wisma Atria, or even inside Ikano (Opposite Uncle Lim for better Won.

Otherwise, change to US$ 1st & thereafter get marginally better rate at incheon airport

Refer to Wawasan-lah...Currently they are selling at 2.86
http://www.wawasanmoneychanger.com.my/exchangeRates.asp

However on Korean won, they are not the cheapest. From my survey, you can get atleast RM2.83 if you change ~ Ikano, Atria, & Bkt bintang area.

BTW, Market rate as per Bank Negara latest is at RM2.78. http://www.bnm.gov.my/statistics/exchangerates.php it's impossible getting this rate. Wth RM2.83 as the best benchmark Today, If you convert to US$ 1st & thereafter to Korean won, you will be getting slighty better at RM2.80-2.81 at Seoul..well..just a small token haha

QUOTE(fcuk90 @ May 21 2011, 01:22 AM)
yeah ,lucky i gt usd at me now ,

i will try to see see , cz i now at kelantan . can give some benchmark rate ?2.8 or 2.9?
