Let me list out some for you then...
Advantage of D3100 over D90:  flex.gif
1. 14MP instead of 12MP, but nobody really cares, so do I.  laugh.gif
2. In max resolution, D3100 10min video recording, D90 only 5min. (I still can tahan with this  yawn.gif )
3. Full HD video recording + can AF! D90 not Full HD and cannot AF while taking video. (I'm sick of this!  mad.gif )
4. In Live View, D3100 AF waaaay much faster than D90. (I'm very sick of this too!!!  mad.gif )

Anyway, it's still your choice. My opinion, go for D7000 instead  laugh.gif
*
i only used the video recording once on my D7000, then i got sick of it tongue.gif
prefer a proper camcorder.

3rd gen ggs for d7000 attaches to the view finder? that's how they make it for canon version, and i agree it is ugly..my D90 version does not attach to the viewfinder but to the normal slot like nikon protector instead
actually i dont mind the viewfinder attachment, if only the bottom part of the lcd protection had a clip to hook on the body.
sometimes when i use batt grip and move the focus point using the mini joystick on it...my thumb tends to push the bottom of the protector...eventually pushing it off the viewfinder slot a little.
of cos if dont use batt grip then its fine, wont move etc.

anyway, i just stuck on a 1st gen GGS tongue.gif

Eii bro. u use d7k a? hmm.gif
Just know that. hahaha
yea, got it late last yr.

QUOTE(ReeNz @ Mar 9 2011, 09:16 AM)
I agree, without the clip on the bottom it doesnt secure enough to the screen..kinda feel like hanging  tongue.gif
and for the 1st gen the distance from the eyepiece to the screen is more, imho give more comfort, less nose/cheek hitting screen  biggrin.gif
*
actually the 3rd gen cos of the viewfinder protection already adds some distance.
now i've gone back to using the dk-21m with 1st gen tongue.gif

then what do you guys do when installed the ori screen protector? and if use dslr body naked...the monitor/screen will get scratch? erm i mean the monitor got whatever "anti scratch. scratch resistent" bla bla?
*
yea prevent from scratching.
even the ori nikon screen protector is not 100%, if something gets under it and sometimes can, there goes your lcd all scratched up.

Can it be used on D7000 or there's one similar for D7000? unsure.gif
*
anything that can fit on D90 can fit on D7000.
so that 3 combo that ReeNz said will fit, just that i tried it and dont like it.
prefer my modded dk-21m with original d7000 eyepiece.

i mean spread the poison by capturing big head pet like cat (kitty) or some cute dog...  wub.gif

random thought: if you are given power to improve Nikon's next camera to replace D7000...code name: D7100...
so technology you will add into it? (current technology one, not fiction tech haha)...

so far heard many people even the friend i rarely heard them active in photography field all also wan D7000.... so i wonder what is the CON of D7000 beside pricing, and cropped sensor lol... or precisely, what do you think D7000 improvement need to be at where?
*
10 fps biggrin.gif
most likely those already established dont need to change cams and are happy with their D300, D3 etc.

cropped sensor is not a con, depends on ur usage.
some who shoot sports or wildlife may prefer it more for instant telephoto.
i seen some using D7000, d300s or even canon 7d before...
imagine the FX users carrying a huge 300mm f/2.8 lens, rather than a more compact 70-200 f/2.8 with same reach on DX.

If he said D90 beats D7000 ISO performance, that's considered downgrading and your friend is bullshitting up himself. Just like the case where people consider to swap D3100 body to D90, that's not totally an upgrade because D3100 ISO performance out beat D90.

Are your friend too emotional over his D90 or does he own any, otherwise just hangat-hangat tahi ayam?
*
u have to see ppl's needs.
some ppl may not shoot high iso, and they prefer 2 control rings which d90 has.
some ppl cannot tahan the smaller body size and smaller and less brighter viewfinder size of d3100.
d3100 also require af-s lenses to af.
d3100 also has lower resolution lcd, so checking for sharpness of shots...well u already know.

so just ignoring the movie part for awhile, it looks more like going from d90 to d3100 is a downgrade.

lol i know what u did thar  brows.gif  brows.gif

oh im studying in UNSW... or should i just bring the prime... its a tut in indoor and some photoshoot session outdoor...

im kinda not thinking on selling my kitty as it will serve me in landscape, 35mm for food photog or indoor low light situation and 70-200 for birding and potrait.

If i sell both my 35mm and kitty...as someone interested to get from me for RM750 for kitty and RM700 for 35mm... then what should i get after it for the range like wide and not exceed fifty... 17-50 perhaps?
*
u already spent on 70-200, wats another few thousand on 17-55? tongue.gif

17-55 dont have vr =(

May i know what is the street price for it? or anyone using it? need some comment about it thanks!
*
lots of ppl have survived without vr.
imo, if u want to shoot ppl, vr isnt that important...its a small lens anyway.
and if u want to shoot still life and its important...say for class assignments, u would be using a tripod tongue.gif

brand new local set should be around rm4.9k?
used can be anywhere within the rm3k range.

u already had a gaming pc and sold it off?
specs for even a medium lvl gaming pc is more than enough for photo editing.
if u go laptop, u really need at least 4gb ram in it etc...and then u have to worry about color reproduction on the laptop lcd...
then if u hook up external lcd...must as well have stuck to ur desktop tongue.gif
