QUOTE(jchue73 @ Mar 15 2011, 02:34 PM) Just to note that the 12-24 (I assume from Nikon) is a DX lens. 12-24 f/2.8 is a FX lens. isnt it is 1 of the high end lens? Thanks for the honest insight. That's correct. On a Canon body, you always have to use a f/2.8 to be able to use the other AF points as it will be automatically disabled. Once your lens is f/4 or f/5.6, than only the centre point AF works if I'm not wrong. No such thing with the Nikon. If the differences are just at 100% zoom, I think you should not get too worried. Get a lens that works for your photography. Specs is one thing but what's the point of having the best lens when it does not suite and complement your style of shooting? Don't worry too much. The 35mm f/2 is a legendary lens in it's own right. Looks like you're enjoying the 35mm f/1.4 more than the 24mm f/1.4? Looks to me like the focus is slightly to the back part of the hair. Is that correct? QUOTE(celciuz @ Mar 15 2011, 04:08 PM) 24mm if the AF is spot on, 35 should be the same too. Only the 50mm is not good at f/1.4 heck even the older 50mm f/1.2 AiS does better wide open! I saw a comparison done by a forummer in PM with a 50mm f/1.2 AiS versus the 50mm f/1.4D. Wide open, the f/1.2 wins! Pretty surprised to see an old lens beating up the newer one. well, sometime old stuff is really a good stuff since last time the stuff is really in top quality. (personally using it and loving it the 50mm ais f1.4)btw, nikon still havent come out with a new 50mm f/1.2? |

QUOTE(xk2 @ Mar 15 2011, 06:11 PM) eventhough some of those ppl are not clear on what they are using, but they might able to generate picture that far better than those who always talk gear and technical thing I do agree with this very much QUOTE(Tony Stark @ Mar 15 2011, 06:25 PM) how low? even if at f9 oso can create bokeh if the subject is near and the background is far. and talking about situations, i only use low apertures when im doing landscape shots. if a group of people, i put on f5.6 like dat Somewhere like f8 to f11? Anyway, when and what situation we should go for lower aperture? Landscape photography where wanna crisp most out of the frame? QUOTE(jchue73 @ Mar 15 2011, 08:31 PM) Bokeh is not just about big apertures. Subject distance to camera and lens focal length plays important part too. Longer FL and nearer the subject distance will create very thin DoF which means bokeh can be created easily. Yeah, I do understand about that and thanks for the link Play around with the DoF simulator. http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html Errr, I hope not ! I still like to trust the Japanese when it comes to precision equipment. |
