Just received my Roomba 550 today with spares. Thx for the fast service, Kevin. Will see how it works after charging it tonight. BTW how long will the battery last if it vacuums every day, 4 rooms about 500 square feet.

My parent all are very impressive to got this irobot at home

So far based on my experience of using roomba 560 , 3000mAh APS yellow battery since August 2010. I use it everyday to clean 2000 Sq Feet house. The battery is still ok, like brand new.

For Roomba to last , u need to take care of the Clean Head Module , so that dust doesn't go into the gear box. If u don't have pets in your house.
u need to clean the gear box perhaps once every year.


If u have pets u have to clean it at least 3 times in 1 year.

Also u need to clean hairs from the yellow bearings of the brush and also the side brush.

Best on your experience ya, this is true for that original Yellow ASP battery can last for as lease 1.5~2 years.

Yes for that Cleaning Head Module should be keep clean and hairs out and keep clean on dusty, but if you purchased a brand new have comes with brush cleaning tool (FOC).
this's can help your CHM for daily or weekly cleaning works.

Actually your set Roomba 550 is a AeroVac Bin, for that AeroVac bin can help much cleaner on your CHM and pull out the hairs or dust to stick at bottom side.
so that's more easy to clean out the bin with debris.
