Haha.. kinda agree.. I hope Google will do something about Android Segmentation.. especially towards the manufacturer.. such as making manufacturer's "Flavour" (HTC's Sense UI, Samsung's TouchWiz, Motorola's MotoBlur, etc) as an "Add-on optional package" only.. instead of coming in as default package sad.gif

Guys do you think it's worth getting a second hand unit? Coz I seen 1 set quite interesting.. SIS set, few weeks (maybe 1 month?) usage, RM1600 .. or RM1700 if + Otterbox Defender case drool.gif

Guys wanna ask again if it's worth or not? Since a new AP set prolly cost RM1.7k+ for 1yr warranty.. if that's a SiS set, it's cheaper with longer warranty..

Hey guys.. need help here. If nothing goes wrong I'll get a DHD second-hand unit next week.. wanna ask what should I check for? Apart from hardware quality/condition, anything "inside" (software wise, etc) that I need to check? Currently asking for the warranty status to be checked..

If the former, then the apps should already be installed in your phone

I see, thanks! But what/how am I suppose to know which is the "stock rom" the phone is supposed to run? The set I'm buying is a 2nd hand SiS Malaysia set. So what's the ROM it should run?

Can't answer you specifically for that one, since I haven't got my DHD yet.

But GPS-wise, it does take time to lock to the satellite, especially on mobile devices since it's receiver is generally weaker compared to pure GPS devices.. How much lesser I don't know. Other factors do contribute in tho, such as where if it's clear sky or not, high-rise building blocking the reception signal, etc. etc.

If you want faster lock on, you can try enabling Assisted GPS (A-GPS), which works by "getting your current location via telco", but there will be a data charge. Costed me 10~20 cent every lock on my N79.

Without assisted GPS, it will take 1min up to 5min to lock (depending on condition)
But with assisted GPS, it takes 10seconds~60seconds to lock..

Gotta do COD at 4pm later.. hopefully the set is not problematic.. these are my checklist.. wonder if anything is missing?? (Buying secondhand set.. biggrin.gif)

CODE
Check packages:-

Phone, Battery, memory card, charger, USB, 3-pin plug(what is this???), warranty card, location voucher, user manuals

Check Conditions:-
Check for scratches/dents
Then check warranty/sirim/SIS sticker on phone/screw area (is there any??)
Then compare phone IMEI with the box to see if it matches, and then compare with IMEI provided earlier.

Phone Testing:-
make calls, test speaker, camera, check LCD for dead pixel, and use *#*#3424#*#* to run more tests.

Then check software version via : Menu > Setting > About Phone > Software details whether if it's stock (Android 2.2, build 1.32)


Anything else I missed?

EDIT: Oh ya, 1 question. How do we check the memory card's size? Default is 8GB right?
