got fluorescent light on ceiling le...and face is not looking downward...lol...hard la...shit man..i m super noob in flash....noob 9999... ..

terus use low iso and high power can get nice la..but i lose ambient..wat i wan is a well balanced light...but it is so damn hard..

ahpingko: wanna ask, ur flash pointing ceiling at wat angle for pic #1 and is pic #2's flash head at 0 degree but turn to right side?

#1 is point direct up...90 degree up..and #2 is to turn its head to right...

ahpingko, take this setting for a start, then adjust from there..

f42, u made a bounce card for it right? use a small part of it only, not too big piece. flash head point up to ceiling, dont put the camera too near to your face.

shutter priority 1/30s iso400, flash on TTL (auto).. see what happens..

Should not be flash problem. More like user setting problem.

So far, my flash works perfectly, no matter how much direct I blast it lol.

ahpingko : When you are using bounce flash, keep this in mind - it's like bouncing a ball. The aim is to make the ball hit your subject. The ball (light) comes out of your flash and then hits the ceiling. When it hits the ceiling, it bounces. So watch your angle. If your angle is not right, the ball will bounce behind you so you might not get the result you want.

Try putting the flash into TTL mode. Don't bother with the manual flash power setting for now.

When you put everything to manual - you have too many variables to work with and will get easily confused.

i made a small card...that is what exactly i m doing..point up to ceiling...and not near the face...i m using 30mm...

TTL mode as in the setting in my a550 body??..i say TTL and ADI metering...this 2 mode got wat difference?..i m on that ADI..

tonight i add u in msn...last night flash til battery finish...lol..it is not flashing at the full power..it is at AUTO..as wat i saw on my flash unit..when i turn to 1/32..it seemed to be damn powerful...but i try to increase it to 1/16, even more power..so at 1/32 it is at its 1/32 not full power...

i also feel weird on my flash..thats y i keep on asking...is there any possibility that flash unit got prob?..as logically iso 800 F2.8 and 1/60 speed...can give some nice lighting even without flash...but how come i got flash still so terrible?.. i so damn noob meh..

its not that much the matter of what focal length you're using, your flash with respect to your face is not in line, you get dark because no light is reaching you. we've already told u, to use AUTO on your flash. forget about manual flash for the mean time..
