This always happens to me too.. I bought my matte screen protector (VIVA brand) for RM80, another friend got it for RM40 and then my colleague managed to find a similar quality one (MOMAX brand) for RM10. whistling.gif

i thing want to try other rom
*
It's generally quicker in terms of UI navigation. I think battery life is slightly improved compared to Darky 9.3 (maybe due to JPE modem). The theme is quite attractive also, very bluish compared to blackish/greenish of Darky. I've found no bugs or problems yet, am likely to stick with SweetHoney until actual 2.3.x is stable for the SGS.

Those who has problems with sweethoney 2.5 can try flashing speedmod kernel.
*
I had some FCs with restored apps (via Titanium Backup) and went back to Speedmod K13C on my Sweethoney 2.5 ROM.

Any idea how a kernel can affect restored apps?
*
Well, putting speedmod kernel on didn't fix the FCs, but it was a kernel that I was more familiar and comfortable with. Of course, had to Titanium restore those apps that FC'ed on me to get things working again. smile.gif

OK, this thread is running quicker than I can follow now so let me just share my latest update. Simply ROM Sweet Honey 2.6 is very nice! Smooth and quick. Need to monitor battery life now.. smile.gif

Trying out DamianGTO kernel again, am intrigued by the ext2 file system lagfix and the undervolt & underclock features.. biggrin.gif

To reduce risk of FCs and other errors, I did a wipe install and then restored my apps and data using Titanium Backup.

Ok guys and gals, have enabled 1.2GHz overclock now to monitor performance and battery consumption. Finally brave enough to try this after receiving my 2700mAh battery from momax.net. Looks-wise, the phone is now a bit chubbier but still sexy. Quite comfortable to hold because the weight of the phone has shifted to a more bottom-heavy orientation. Check out the pics below.

How's the battery life now ? Can last for 2-3 days ?
*
Fat and sexy, trust me.. icon_idea.gif

My data is always on, which is the way I like it. Can only update on battery life next week because I just got the thing this morning (ordered on 6th Mar).

and how much ha?
*
Got it for HK$328 which is about RM130 or so, I think. Free shipping.

If I remember correctly, the Momax fella I spoke to (I called them) mentioned that a single order of more than 15 units will be eligible for bulk-buy discount.

Dunno about you, but based on my typical usage with the standard 1500mAh battery, my phone dies at about 11pm after leaving the charger at 7am ~ approximately 16 hours.

OMG, so fat. You using this now?

Want to check out how is the speaker sound quality after you put in the fat casing?
*
Fat like me ha ha. Yep, using the batt now.

Speaker sounds the same to me because the back cover slopes inwards on the top part of the phone - the fat part is just the bottom 60% of the back cover.

anyone from simply 2.4 wipe to 2.6 no-wipe? is there any issue? coz if got, wanna flash back to stock first..
*
I went from 2.5 to 2.6 via wipe. Cleaner and safer. Had loads of issues when I tried 2.4 to 2.5 nonwipe..

ok thanx..so better for me to flash back to stock rom right? then flash 2.6 wipe? alredi download 2.6 non wipe  doh.gif
*
Why do you want to flash back to stock ROM? You just need to boot into CWM to apply the wipe version of the 2.6 zipfile.

Anyway I think the Froyo 2.2 and 2.2.1 stock ROMs come with 3e Recovery which will not allow installation of unsigned update.zip files..

flash the theme zip through cwm. jq1 > jve imo, so just stay with it
*
That's weird, I find that JVE modem > JQ1 modem. Was outside earlier at Coffee Bean Belissa Row (Penang), opened Google Maps with JQ1 modem and it locked me in about 200m plus away from my actual location. Booted into CWM and changed to JVE modem and then I got locked in about 10m away from actual location. Will stick with JVE to see if battery life is ok or not (probably will be ok since I have a bigger batt now ha ha)..

Update on the Momax 2700mAh batt - left charger with 100% at 9am, 50% left now at 11pm with my usual usage (10-15 mins of calls, 3-5 SMS, 15 mins of whatsapp chat, approx. 45 mins of reading FB and Twitter via Tweetdeck and Miren web, lots of reading Gmail and some Gtalk + Youtube activity. Digi data connection always on, WIFI always on)

Oh wow, that is good battery life! I am sold. I want that battery. Did you import it? I saw somewhere with 5000mAh is it too crazy? What are the unseen effects of high mAh on our phone?
*
Oh I forgot, 1 more thing, did use BT to send 10MB of files to another SGS user brows.gif brows.gif

Don't celebrate yet, buddy, I will need to test this batt a few more days (3 charge cycles or more) to be convinced that it really is as good as I expect it to be..

Yep, directly ordered it from shop.momax.net (HK) and it took about 14 days to arrive (free shipping, HKPost then Poslaju).

BTW, 5000mAh is probably overkill la, and may make the phone too fat. The good thing about Momax's batt is that the back cover is nice, a bit too shiny and fingerprint-magnet, but the feeling in hand is nice. Unseen effects? Dunno la..

Added on March 19, 2011, 11:28 pmBTW, since my photo taking skills are very poor, this posting on another forum has better pics showcasing an SGS with the Momax batt and cover.

More Pics of Momax 2700mAh

I have 3 buddies waiting for feedback also. I am not a very demanding user since I charge the phone every night, a habit started since my WM6 days - I just need my phone not to die on me from 7:30am to 11:30pm on weekdays..

Ahh I see. I'll take a look at the website. Thanks.
So that's how the phone looks like with the battery? That's a little bulky for me. sad.gif
*
In the hand, feels like holding my old nokia 5800 albeit a bit wider.. also, I carry my phones naked so those who like cases may have issues. The momax battery does come with a simple pouch case, though.
