may i know which maybank u went to? i wonder they still have the kijang stock. thx.
*
It`s hard to find Kijang Emas, because they do not produce it anymore, for the time being.
Thank God, i manage to acquire a few oz at Maybank Kota Bharu yesterday. flex.gif

U should call Maybank branch to know whether they have stock or not.
Even KL main also only have 1/2oz n 1/4oz. No 1oz at all. (last week).

Ordered batch of Air-Tite coin capsules just arrived...  tongue.gif

Normally use Light House capsules but decided to give Air-Tite a try hmm.gif

If going for physical coins, a good idea is to get coin capsules.

Esp for Kijang's because once dented or scratched Maybank will not buyback the same for UOB too sweat.gif

Cool stuff man.
May i know where u buy it ?

A hairline scratch on Kijang Emas is allrite.
But, any visible scratch or dent on Kijang Emas which cause less weight of the coin will not accepted by Maybank.
Maybank officer say so.

Honestly I don't like scratches even hairlines  sad.gif

Coin capsules the easiest place to buy is eBay because of the variety of sizes available.

For a box of 10-20. The average cost is around RM2.50 to RM3 per capsules after shipping.

Or if eBay is not an option, locally I know of a coin shop at Maju Junction Mall LG floor that stocks Light House and some other brands of coin capsules.

The owner is Mr. Raymond nice chap  nod.gif

Hope that helps!

On a personal note, I realized that Kijang Emas has a premium over UOB's bullion coins. Like today, Kijang asking 4837 while UOB's Canadian Maples/Oz Nuggets are asking 4761. Come to think of it, Kijang will only probably known in the local market while the bullion in UOB's counter are more internationally recognized. Won't international bullion (eg. canadian maples, ozzie kangaroos, pamp suisse) have a better advantage over kijang in both value and recognition?

what do you guys think?
*
1.) Heard rumours that Kijang Emas produced from Malaysia`s very own gold, not imported from other country.
And, Malaysia`s gold are high quality compared to others.
E.g : Malaysia, Brunei & Libya oil are very high quality compared to Saudi`s. Mostly used for aeronautical & sophisticated engineering.
When U.S attack Libya, oil supply were halted although Libya only exported small percentage of world`s oil consumption.
That because, Libya`s oil are real gem of oil(The black gold). Get the ideas why U.S & Europe hit Gaddafi like crazy.

2.) Kijang Emas & Dinar Kelantan also from virgin gold, not scrap gold like several manufacturers.
I do own Turkiye gold but after suspicious that it not from virgin gold, i release most of my Turkiye gold. I also heard the same case from private manufacturers like Public Gold.

3.) Owning a Kijang Emas like owning a real value of Malaysia.
Since most wealthy countries backed their currency with gold reserves, thus owning Kijang Emas means u have part of Malaysia harta. brows.gif

4.) Kijang Emas also rarely manufactured because it only used gold from Malaysia soil.
Same like Dinar Kelantan which only produced from Kelantan`s very own gold.
That`s the reason why kijang Emas & Dinar Kelantan not easily available.

Bear in mind that all of my statements above are rumours/hearsay and not backed by facts. icon_rolleyes.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

I wonder why everytimes i went to pawn my Kijang Emas, the gold weighing scale always shows inaccurate readings :

1) 1 oz : Description (31.105g), Pawn centre: (31.14g - 31.12g)
2) 1/2 oz : Description (15.555g), Pawn centre: (15.58g - 15.55g)

Does Bank Negara Malaysia(BNM) been generous or what ?

OUB
7/7/2011 : Bank Selling (RM150/g)...... World Gold Price : USD1528
11/7/2011 : Bank Selling (RM150.9/g)... World Gold Price : USD1543
- Difference RM0.90 for USD15 world gold price appreciate.

KFH
7/7/2011 : Bank Selling (RM153.18/g)...World Gold Price : USD1528
11/7/2011 : Bank Selling (RM154.61/g)... World Gold Price :USD1543
- Difference RM1.43 for USD15 world gold price appreciate.

* Means u are RM0.53 richer per gram if u invest in KFH ? hmm.gif

UOB are low in spread, but they not really justify world gold price appreciation.

Frankly u have no choice but to buy from them, if u want to buy physical gold. u can also buy from many other places. i believe all banks/companies do practice the same which they don't really follow the gold's price. they claimed they do and i've been following very closely and they do not. my opinion just buy from bot of them and i did (going to buy from OUB this month)
*
Respect your opinion, but i think i get enough with UOB.
Low spread offered by UOB not really tempted because i`m hunting for most transparent provider.
Will go back to KFH or maybank, since my plan is for long term.

BTW, Kuwait Finance House(KFH) currently organizing lucky draw, "Gold Discovery II", first price is 1KG gold notworthy.gif

Yeah. I also have very small budget cause I am still a student. I buy on a ratio of 5:1. Every 5oz. of silver equals to 1g of gold.
*
I think silver will outperfomed gold, big time.
But, liquidity & market for silver in Malaysia are small & complicated.

I just don`t have enough balls for such volatile precious metal. So, just concentrate on gold.

if the bubble/correction is coming soon, why are we still keep buying? hmm.gif

Because nobody can correctly predict the future gold movement.
The good thing about gold is it is hard to manipulate, since many party own it(Central bank, country, investor & citizen).

When George Soros dump almost 99% of his gold holdings in May 2011, gold just decrease about 2%.
That`s George Soros(a huge investor& speculator), but still gold not heavily affected.

I'll stay focus and patience... just bought some gold last May... still does not break even... but I believe as most of u says... buy gold for long term maaaaaa...chaiyok-chaiyok nod.gif

I dont have any idea how bank calculate the rate for gold price.
I find out that if the intraday gold trading price are stable/less volatile, bank will offer better price.

Perhaps someone can enlighten about how bank determine the gold rates icon_question.gif

i was hoping they do better!  sad.gif

Ya man.
I expect gold will be punished at least to $1.5K level.

Perhaps due to probability of US rating downgrade.

US downgrade and gold move downwards?

Nope.
I think gold not beaten hard eventhough US already pass the debt ceiling, because there`s huge probability that US rating will be downgraded in coming months.

KFH purity 995, a bit lower than other goldbar
*
Yes. They are 995.
KFH in process to replace their 995 to 999.
Their customer should get the free survey sms that asking either they interested to replace the old 995 to 999.

In Turkey & Arabs, 995 are common but not in Malaysia.
Since KFH want to have bigger pie in gold investment, they have to capture the norms of Malaysian.

Basicly, not much differences between 995 and 999.
They were almost in the same ballpark.
Just slight differences in percentage of purity & price.
