hello all.

Is this thread still active?

Im thinking of giving tis ago. since i only use disposable razors and its not really good for the skin. cant get smooth shave.

And i dont feel like going ot the barber everytime i wanna shave.
where in subang/damansara area can i get a set of razor, blades, brush and soap for beginners?

You'll also find a benefit to your wallet if you change to a double edge shaver. I would buy the razor online, I bought one of these with a stand, quality is excellent and cut is adjustable.

Double edge means both sides of the razor can be used right?
Cut adjustable means can choose how close the shave can be?

Never bought anything from ali express. The blades where do u buy it? Brush? Bowl? Soap/cream?

Yes double edge are the standard blades user posted image.

Last time I bought a sample pack from a guy advertising on Mudah, several different brands, that was about 2 years ago, I'm still working through them. I can give you his contact, if you're interested.

Yes the adjustment is for the closeness of the shave, twist the stem.

I don't usually bother with shaving soap, I just use Tesco brand shaving foam. I bought a brush in body shop a long time ago, probably not the best, but it's OK, they may have shaving soap as well.

If you're new to using a DE razor, you may end to nick your skin at first, I did. I recommend you get an aluminium salt stick to quickly stop the bleeding, I find 'Smelly No More' works well, you can buy in a pharmacy or online.

thanks. checked ali express, it said 3 weeks to a month to send the order. too long. figured if i can buy at a shop, lagi cepat.

ok will try that.

Keep in mind that the blades and the razor itself make a big difference to the shaving experience. Try first with the readily available equipment, then consider upgrading if it goes OK.

So now there's PKP again I'll just buy it online. Any good recommendations for around rm30-50?

There are plenty of choice at that price range especially those from China, just make sure don't get plastic ones and also take note on the weight of the razor, a good safety razor should have some weight as wet shaving usually don't have to use pressure at all and let the razor do its job.

This is an adjustable DE razor with good weight, it's a copy of an design that originated in Germany (the patent must have expired), if you look around online they are available from multiple sellers and in sets with various stands.

If you look in this thread for postings around July 2019 you will see some discussion on this type of handle. My post was deleted for some reason (I wonder why the mod didn't like it?).
