So i dislocated my shoulder for the first time when i was Form 4 during football. I just went to tukang urut and it healed by itself. The problem is, afterwards, my shoulder just keep dislocating and dislocating until me myself has lost count of how many times did my shoulder dislocated. It sucks man. It can dislocate by only just lying on my chest while using laptop. And now i started gym, i cant do certain routines such as Smith machine seated rear press, pull up, chin up, lat pull-down. Now im 23. Its been 7 years! What can i do? Surgery or anything? Help me dude!

It also found that when only the studies using the highest-quality design were considered, there was no effect above placebo. cited from Wikipedia on glucosamine.

besides, what does taking glucosamine has to do with a dislocated shoulder ? You are treating a hardware problem with a software fix.

i dislocated my knee during aikido practice 9 years back. slightly overstretched 3 tendons. basically my calves twisted 90degrees sideways

for the first 6 months, i cannot run. walking is a problem as i need to be 110% careful on where i'm stepping or risk dislocate my knee again. after 6 month i can start jogging and do aikido and karate. but sometime can feel the knee like going to dislocate with popping sounds.

ended i bought knee support and wear it everytime i'm moving. only remove for sleeping and baths. after 2 years fully recovered.

you need to really take care of your shoulders for it to heal properly. other than supports, you need to exercise it for the muscle to build to help to support the "loosen" parts.

2nd. if you wanted to claim insurance, make sure talk to the doctor. this is a 7 years ago injuries. if you bought your insurance AFTER your injuries and you didn't declare for it. insurance company will decline the claim as it's an old injuries.

Eat some collagen. Helps strengthen the tendons and ligaments.
Do some weight lifting to strengthen the joint (obviously, you need to start very-very-very light weight for your shoulder.)

And why the heck are you doing rear press for? To dislocate it every time you press? doh.gif

so there are two options here.

first is to strengthen the muscles, tendons and ligaments supporting my shoulder joint, which will take a long long time and a lot of patience.

and the second one is to go for surgery. and definitely an expensive option if i don't have any insurance. right?

btw, if i opt to go for surgery, is there any con of having screws in my shoulder?

ya...metal detector might go off if u r taking flight......
i dun like operations, there will surely b long term effects tat no1 is going to tell u abt till u experience it.

build it up slow...
i would suggest inclined bench press, with the angle close to 90 degree.start with really light weights.

did u consider wearing a shoulder brace?

Going to a tukang urut for a dislocation is one of the silliest things a person can do. I see so many patients in ortho clinics who have had their lives screwed up for trusting some village bomoh or tukang urut to fix fractures or dislocations and ending up with non union and deformed limbs. Get to an ortho doctor.

yeah i admit it as a silly mistake. maybe i was too young back then and cannot think of a better solution. ok so i think i'll make an appointment with a clinic or hospital specialized in orthopedic to see what can i do. hope not a surgery. bcoz im not sure insurance will cover any incident happening 7 years ago. btw thanks guys for the help. this thing has been haunting for so long. so long until now after a dislocate, i can relocate my shoulder easily by myself. rclxub.gif

u case almost same as mine,i also dislocated for about 15~20times,but not as serious as dislocate by only just lying on my chest while using laptop.i start dislocated since 2001-2008.
i never go for tukang urut but chinese tabib.
Been looking for ortho doctor, but USELESSS....waste the money for the pill, xray, the ubat to sapu on top of skin,i have visit the ortho doctor for about 10 times, and yet my shoulder still dislocated...The ortho doctor from S****Y M***** advice me to go for surgery because too many times dislocated shoulder,so even the pill pun tak boleh help,so the only option he ask me to go operation and ask me whether is necessary or not, he point out 3 thing.
1st: izzit a must to go for surgery?
2nd: consider risk of surgery, either gorek lubang or potong skin to skrew the joint.
3rd:i forgot.6years ago punya hal.
after consider these 3 issues, and he advice me no need to.

so i switch to tabib, been many visit many tabib...until i meet the pro retire tabib at KU..eating his secret recipe,i no more dislocated for about 4 years,of course need to take care properly by not overload ur hand, such as playing badminton, bowling and so on.
now i still can lift light weight,1kg only...lolz.
