Can it be transmitted by light kissing?

Me and my partner going for scheduled blood test every 3 months, sometimes more for him especially when he travel a lot for work.  So far everything is fine.

Can I get bacterial infection if I didn't dry properly after washing?
*
Yes, HSV can be transmitted by light kissing, sometimes even sharing of utensils or toothpaste.

hi, i been diagnosis with herpes type 1 & 2.
But the doctor told me not to worry about anything & given me no pre-cautious or any medication.
Only told me not to have sex when i'm having any sort of sore.

At this point onwards, what else i could do about it ?
Outbreak is like how ?
I got a gf & i intended to marry her. I told her about this herpes infection as well. But i didn't ask her to go test for it.
*
Herpes is quite common and quite a number of people have it. Have you had any outbreaks yet so far? Some people are just carriers with no visible symptoms.

What you can do is to keep your immune system healthy. It usually comes out when your body is stressed and weak, changes in lifestyle, environment, diet may trigger it too. Different people different. But once its in you, you live with it forever. There are creams and supplements to keep the virus under control. For oral herpes, you can just go to any pharmacy to get cold sore cream.

Google how herpes outbreak is like and you'll find your answer. Basically it's a whole lot of blisters which will burst and take a long time to heal. With proper prevention and awareness, you can reduce the outbreak/healing time. Also read on what you should be aware off when you have an outbreak so you do not pass it to others, especially your kids in the future, i.e. no sharing of utensils, towels, toothpaste, kisses on the cheeks, etc.

QUOTE(bartbarb @ Aug 18 2014, 07:59 AM)
I don't think so. I do not have any abnormal rashes or any visible blister around my mouth or lower body, except for the one i recently bite my lips. Hopefully i know how to differentiate an outbreak or just a normal blisters.
Without any doctor advise I'm quite reluctant to take any sort of medicine.

I taken this test on about after 4 weeks of last sex activities, is there any possible that i got a false positive? As i read there is this kind of possibilities.

I will try to do another test on September, is there any specialist in KL which I can do another herpes & HIV test?
*
The one that you bite on your lips is most likely canker sores. It's different from cold sores.

Canker sores are not contagious and very different from cold sores. Cold sores are usually on the outside of your lips. It appears as small blisters then combine to become a huge one then burst.

There is always that risk when doing the test, if you are worried, go just for another test in the future. You might have gotten it way before your recent sex activity also, you won't know. Cold sores are commonly passed down by parents when the kids are young.

Hi Munkeyflo.

Thanks for the explanation.
My HSV-1 test is 1.49, HSV-2 test is 1.20.

If i going to do another test, do pathlab/BP is enough to go through?
Is there a need to go to a gynae specialist for the test?

Herpes Simplex 1 & 2 Blood Test:
Possible Detection – 2-4 Weeks
Most Likely Detection – 6-12 Weeks
Highest Accuracy – 12-16 Weeks

http://www.thestdproject.com/std-testing-w...et-tested-stds/

I know i'm getting over worries about this, eventhough the doctor say nothing to worries about.
But this is my future that i'm facing through.
*
Honestly, I've no idea about the STD test. It's best to check with your doctor about that.

Gynae specialist? You're a girl?

Many people live with herpes. It's a life changing event for sure, but you will be fine. smile.gif

Lol... ...im a guy.
I tnink I will go to another specialist to check. Cause I check in some other forum, it seems that bx lab doesnt works well.
Anyhow I hope this does not affect greatly on my gf n our future

What kind of specialist for a guy to go for ?
*
Actually you go to specialists/doctors/clinics, they will also send it to the labs to do the tests and the lab will send them the results and they will tell you the results.

If you ask me, it's all the same.

Hello all I feel so sad to be diagnosed with herpes.although doctor said is it old infection but I searched online herpes will remain forever in the body.doctor said cannot be eliminated.is there any way I can cure it? Thanks in advance
*
There's no cure for Herpes.

It seems like you have both HSV 1 and 2. But have you had any symptoms so far?

It's not life threatening and it's easily kept under controlled even though easily transmitted. Now what you can do is to read up on it and educate yourself about what the virus is all about.

QUOTE(serenaslut @ May 9 2015, 06:07 PM)
if a female has STD but no symptoms, can it spreads to her bf? And her bf due to low immune system, get the STD and show the symptoms.
Also, do teh female needs any treatments if no symptoms?
*
Some people can be asymptomatic. They carry the virus but don't show any symptoms, e.g. some people with herpes are asymptomatic.

Yes, it's still transferable even if she doesn't show any symptoms.

QUOTE(herzeleid @ May 15 2015, 11:31 AM)
Do you know how did you contracted the disease?
*
Herpes is very easily contracted. Skin contact and you'll get it already. Condom is not 100% effective against herpes. The person could also be asymptomatic as described above and might not even know that he/she has it in their body. Herpes is also affected by our body immune system, some people are stronger, some weaker. So unless there was an obvious outbreak in his partner and there was skin contact (or sharing of certain things like utensils, towels, toothpaste, etc), it's gonna be hard to pin point how and when did he contracted the disease.

Does she needs any treatment?

She needs to be diagnose with anything first before seeking for treatment. Has she go for a STD test yet?

If not yet, then don't even talk about treatment. Just go for the STD test to find out what you are so worried about. Then only think about treatment and prevention.

Herpes can be transmitted via skin contact - oral herpes and genital herpes.
Since you didn't come in contact with oral or genital, I doubt you are at any great risks.

Urine test is quite simple. I'm sure pretty much every clinic offers it. If not, just go any of the test labs.

I had a raw moment with a fren a mth back. recently kinda had like a tingling feeling on the inside of the penis shaft. and frequently felt like the tip is wet. Urinating also didnt feel so comfy compared to before.

Wanna ask her if she is clean also feel like very rude.. Sigh.. How to approach doc for a test and how much would it cost? Symptoms shows like UTI.
*
UTI isn't exactly an STD that will show up a month later.

Just go to any clinic and tell the doctor your symptoms.

Did a check. Doc said its a mild case of UTI as infection located in urine but no signs of blood or anything. Should be able to cure it with antibiotics. Most probably due to hygiene it seems. I do use office toilet a lot. Any chances I might have got it from there? Lol.
*
No idea but it's generally harder for guys to get UTI compared to females.

since 2 days ago, my body is filled with red rashes...quite itchy and spreading all over body. i coulnt remember when was my last visit to the parlour, but i did do that previously, which was few months ago...

is it only fungus infection (clinic doctor told me) or its related with this sexually sickness?

i used the cream anti fungus yesterday (given yesterday) but seems still spreading.

please advise...

Go see a dermatologist. And get a blood test with STD done.

QUOTE(maxmit @ May 16 2017, 12:42 PM)
Guys, what is the incubation period of oral herpes (HSV-1) and its outbreak symptoms, and what is the best time to get tested after exposure?

After brief Google searches, outbreaks and incubation periods can vary wildly from person to person, from unnoticeable and years later, to immediate and brutal. Results are not reliable as well, as they may be false positive or negative. Some g.p. doctors mentioned that the best way to know is to have an cold sore outbreak, then get a swab test, but wouldn't cold sore already confirm it? Not testing can also significantly increase the spreading of the infection unknowingly.
*
Depends on your own immune system. Some people may never have an outbreak. Some may have an outbreak once and never have it again. Some may have outbreaks often. Some may get outbreaks only when their immune system are weak, e.g. a cold or fever can trigger it, hence why it's also known as "cold sores" or "fever blisters". If I'm not mistaken, it will show as early as 1 week after exposure. Not sure about when to get tested, but like you said, the results can end up being false positive or negative. If it's bothering you, you can just go get tested, HSV tests is usually an addition to the standard STD test. Just know that the results may not be 100% accurate.

Cold sores are very common, and unless you don't simply kiss people (including family members), you may already have it or have been exposed to it before in the past. Treatments for it are readily and easily available at any pharmacy. I'm sure you done your research and already know the early symptoms of an outbreak. One of the effective medicine you can get is "Virasolve", if you ever need it.

It's most contagious when there's an outbreak and when the tingling sensation can be felt, up to it completely heals. If the person you believe has HSV1 did not have an outbreak at that time you were exposed to their lips/skin, then most likely you will be fine. I personally know people who have cold sores all their life and their spouses of 20-30 over years have never had an outbreak in their life.

QUOTE(Kilohertz @ Jan 21 2018, 05:26 PM)
How common is herpes in m'sia really? Seems like not much people talked about it.
*
Quite common. More than you would know. A lot of people with HSV do not even know they have it.

HSV1 is more visible and pretty common. Can be transmitted from parent/adults to kids when they are young. Lots of parents kiss their kids, share utensils/linens. Plenty of aunties/uncles kiss their nephew/nieces when they are young too. HSV2 on the other hand, we don't really talk about it unless you are in a relationship with that person or both of you are naked in bed.

QUOTE(Kilohertz @ Jan 22 2018, 01:48 PM)
Sometimes a person can shred the virus even though there's no visible lesion as I read it online.. this is why it's hard to prevent herpes unless that person is confirmed tested negative for it..  shakehead.gif

Hope for the best bro.. I don't think it gets spread that easily and to be honest, not many docs in m'sia will suggest to go tested for HSV.. which is weird eh
*
HSV tests can also have false positives, which is why it's not very commonly encouraged by doctors (if I'm not mistaken). The last I ask for a full HSV test, the doctor said something like that.

I know long term married couples (>30 years marriage) where one of the them has HSV and the other has never shown any symptoms. Some of them don't even know what HSV is. I guess it really depends on your immune system as well.

QUOTE(JamesR999 @ Jan 23 2018, 12:33 AM)
Guess its quite hard to prevent std from random sex activities even with protection. Unless the other party is also clean.
*
Yes, HSV is by skin contact. Condoms don't protect you from HSV.

From all the online sources/forums that I read.. it says HSV1 is pretty common, probably in the US or Western countries.. anyway, just this is based on my observation.. rarely can see ppl have cold sores on their lips in M'sia

You’ll be surprised most people don’t even know how cold sores look like and think it’s just common mouth ulcers.

I’ve live in western countries for some time, and I seldom see they have cold sores on their lips too.
