how do i dump the default rom in samsung, i'm new to samsung.. i've only used clockworkmod recovery in my ex-htc wildfire, SGA is a completely different scene than the HTC Wildfire
Samsung Firmwares is a bit regional I would say but you can flash any region firmware. It is mostly for customization. If HTC, RUU and WWE are the jargon but in Samsung it is a mouthful.
For example, Our firmware is S5830DXKA9 which means the phone code (S5830), the region (DX - Malaysia, Singapore etc. (SEA)), the firmware date KA(2011, January) and Version (9). Currently, the one available in the net is ZSKA9 which is for China and Hong Kong.
The only different is the locale and default language only.
Every firmware come with three or four part.
1. Bootloader -- this is optional and mostly not needed
2. PDA -- this is firmware & kernel (or you can flash kernel only with the whole firmware intact)
3. Phone / Modem -- the wireless and GSM driver
4. CSC -- country specific customization -- this is mostly telco part.
5. OPS / PIT -- this is to tell Odin on how the phone partition will be.
Again, you can mix all these or flash part of it. Our CSC code is XME, if different... only need to configure mobile APN after factory reset or when changing SIM. The phone won't do it automatically and telco apps are also handle by this part.
You can change CSC anytime from the phone but it requires a factory reset.
All these info is based on my experience with SGS, I think it will be same as SGA. And I'm still figuring out on how to dump our DXKA9 rom, need to find the correct partition.
Tips....
Samsung screen shot service without root. Press back button + home button. Not all screen can be captured.
