A little Googling goes a long way. There is still no news on whether the Ace will be getting the Android 2.3 Gingerbread or not.

Very eager to get this phone right now... but still will wait for ip5, because Digi will provide this phone for sure, their current RM58/mth package is very good.

Ip5 also might be Steve job's last phone.. sad sad.

If i need 2 phone, sure will grab this one now.

All Android phones should be able to function without a SIM. Though I'm not 100% sure.

I am buying this phone this weekend.
I read this thread that I can root using SOC 1.7.
As this will be my first android to compliment the iphone was wondering how easy is this root procedure and is it safe?

play it safe... but remember root at ur own risk...

do it while ur phone is still fresh out of the box with default setting.. take out the sdcard... and make sure usb debugging is turn on
download soc 1.7 and and follow every step that is given... if everything went well reboot/restart ur phone after that... u'll see the superuser icon in apps drawer...
