I am working back on his quotation which I think he charge RM5.5 psf for installation of tiles (exclude tile).  Is this reasonable?

Are your contractor have do concrete top & cover car porch hole?

If a hole is there, get concrete cover. Don't plaster it. It could be drain access.

ya. i think doing concrete cover just don't know RM1100 worth or not.

i have asking before when i request quotation from grill contractor. He advise me doing concrete cover better even install polycarbonate also will leaking later.

This one is roof opening, your ealier description make it like floor "hole", which usually are drain access.  What is the below access?

If no one will be walking on the top, don't need concrete slab. Glass will be nice, but expensive, pros is less noisy and won't fade. Poly will fade and noisy. A forumer here mention about better quality poly + thicker that will not fade and quiet as glass but I am not sure, you have to search and ask the person.

Is it Homogeneous Tile? homogeneous are stong. You need to ask the seller. When wrongly choose tiles, the tiles can break due to unable support weight, color fade due to high sun exposure. Better check.

I'm being quoted 3.50 to hack away tiles and RM8 to lay 2x2 tiles.

I just wanna share a very bad experience from century ceramics, in Jinjang.
I had to buy some tiles for kitchen counter top and porch.
Entered this shop cuz its the only one open on Sunday,and asked the guy specifically fr the  tiles. Of coz i dunno what type
Suit where ma... But i told him, if white got for counter top means good lah.

Idiot recomended me porcelain tiles cz it was on clearance sale and white. Buta buta i buy, and contractor say npt suitable...

I called, dun get back moneh also nvm, at least change fr me lah.. Stupid sales guy froever nt in office, and the boss answer my call. Boss also lousy ..say i  asked cheap tiles and didn't bother of the type... Wtf.

Scold also no use. Best way is to just share my exp.so no one kena con..

Oh and their quite pricy too... Bought the plastic tiling border for rm13..shop beside only selling fr rm7.

I am in a dilemma and would like some advise from all sifu-sifu and veterans...

I just received a quote from my contractor, and apparently from what i gather from this thread (i read like 30% of it) the prices for tiling for Chinese workers is roughly below RM5/sqft (please correct me if i am wrong)

I would like to share my quotation with all sifu and veteran, please comment about this quotation as i am baffled by the price he is quoting me.

(1) to supply labour for laying wall tiles (2' x 1') up to 10ft high; total about 410sqft = RM4,100 (about RM10/sqft)
(2) to supply labour for laying floor tiles (2' x 2'); total about 168sqft = RM2,520 (about RM15/sqft)
(3) to supply labour for laying car porch tiles (2' x 1'); total about 550sqft = RM3,600 (about RM6.60/sqft)

I did a backwards calculation against my because he quoted me a lump sum price.

According to him, this price includes all materials excluding tiles, and the work is done by a chinese sifu.

Please advise as the pricing is baffling..

Hi. Just did some sourcing around Jinjang & Jln Ipoh during the weekend and I append below the pricing for your reference:

1) 1 x 2 1st Grade tiles (rough surface for both wall and floor) = About RM5.30 for White Horse, Goocera and Venus
2) 1 x 2 (same as above but 2nd Grade tiles) = About RM4.30
3) 2 x 2 (black galaxy) = RM18, one shop in Jln Ipon is selling RM16.99, some other marble-like tiles will be at the region of RM23
4) Rough stone (like 3D) for people to plaster at the pillars = RM55 for 6.1 sf

I was told that MML tiles are the hardest but of course they are the more expensive ones. I went to Houz Depot too and they are selling Guocera Tiles (1st Grade) at RM4.90 but of course with limited choices. They are also selling one Feruni tiles (2x2) at RM9.90 which I think is dirt cheap (but too bad that I don't plan to change my floor tiles at the living hall).

Hope it helps but since I was shopping in a rush, any better and cheaper outlets that I should explore ??

Is black or dark grey floor tiles suitable for bathroom? Will soap stain/Grimes be too obvious over long time usage causing the tiles seems to be whitish?

is the picture shown during the bathroom reno or are you showing the dirts that can be easily shown for dark tiles?

My contractor quoted me as below:'

Install cement table top only (without cabinet) with tiles 1x2 at 2' x 4' sqft
Install tile 1x2 at the wall of above the table top at 6' x 4' sqft
Relocate , make 2 holes (water in from tap and water out to yard and install a water tap n copper pipe from yard to kitchen around 6'ft for washing machine in kitchen
All this is done at condo yard area.

The contractor quoted me RM1800 but is it reasonable price? I feel like very expensive...
