hi guys! need some recommendation on two phones, the htc desire hd and the iphone4. i did some search and got some reviews but i would really want to hear opinions from these phone users instead of just reading the specs.

Im using the phone for free apps, games, watching videos/movies and WIFI internet surfing. camera i think is okay since both have HD recordings.

My questions are:

1. Wanna ask about the HTC Desire HD's dolby sound system is it really that a big difference if compared with normal speaker of iphone4?

2. Between the two phones, which will be more durable to shock? im quite a careless person and tend to drop my phone sometimes.

Actually I dont really like the size of HTC desire HD becuz it's quite bulky to put in my pocket as compared to iphone4. but which phone will be better in the long run? Thanks for your opinions in advance!

Depends on what you want. If you like games, Apple has much better games graphically. If you want information, HTC is best with the widgets (ifond no widgets).

But i won't recommend DHD though. You're better off to buy Incredible S.

1) IMO, All phones speakers are crap and rubbish. Maybe i am just to use to my Yamaha amp, receivers, speakers and Aego-Ms...

2) Don't drop either of them. Sure to break. You sounds like you need Motorola DEFY more.

Thanks for ur fast reply. really appreciate it alot =) Motorola DEFY is the one with waterproof, anti shock and anti rust feature right? The package is quite expensive for me to take, cuz im actually malaysian but just started studying in australia. so they have these vodafone plans for DHD and iphone4 (cheapest plans cuz i no money lol).

So for quite ok touchscreen phone im looking at these two. Thanks for recommendation in Incredible S, will take a look if there's a plan for it. BTW i was reading through the forum and found that DHD is better of if we custom mod it (to fully utilize the phone capability) and iphone4 battery's pretty weak, cant last for a day (with minor gaming and surfing). is that true?

It's no Android, but Wave 2 is a steal for it's price...i bought one for my wife. No complains from her after 1 month, which i conclude is a pass!!!

Great screen, speedy response, solid build, good camera, best of class HD recording (one of the best phone for capturing video, according to gsmarena), generally friendly UI, GPS also works fine (after some tweaking).

If you don't care about useful widgets or download tons of free apps, this is a fine phone. And yeah, in terms of hardware specs, the CPU/GPU is the same as Galaxy S. It is basically a Galaxy S (with superior build + a camera flash) running on BADA. The CPU/GPU actually beats the iPhone4. I can tell you the 3D graphics is smoother than my HTC Desire and the mutitouch response is also much better.

I seriously would not recommend DHD. It is overpriced. I'll rather get a HTC Desire.
1) The camera is no better than the HTC Desire
2) The screen uses TFT, which is inferior to the AMOLED/S-LCD in the HTC Desire.

Lastly, all smartphone battery are weak...what do u expect, non-stop 3G syncing online to fb, emails etc, GPS, gaming, surfing etc. I charge my Desire twice a day! No problem really. tongue.gif

Just tested...yep, can open. Just use the file explorer and open it. But it has limitations though. Tried open a 30MB file but it's too large. Tried another file about 6MB+ (216 pages). Works fine.

Read somewhere the limit is about 10MB. not sure though.

budget is around rm1k - rm1.5k

now that you ask it does not sound clear what i'm asking about the easy internet usage. maybe i should just say support high speed internet, like most of the phones today. also user friendly internet interface wouldn't harm

Editted: Xperia X10 cannot support video calls.

At the same time, what do you mean by this?

user friendly internet interface wouldn't harm?

So far, the best choice phone that can fulfill your all requirement is Nokia N8 for now, but you might find Android UI is better off.

I apologize if I asked the question that have been asked before, as I don't have the bandwith and connection speed to check back on the recommendation of phone. icon_rolleyes.gif

1. Brand. Prefer SE, Blackberry or HTC, avoid Nokia if possible
2. Budget. <900
3. Specs. Smart phone, 3G, video call, smooth mobile web surfing
4. Type/Size. Not a matter, as long as it looks like a cellphone. smile.gif

Notes: Hope it's consistent in terms of reliability and repairing fees. Would be good if it's a blackberry without the ball as the control. smile.gif
Pleaseee help ! notworthy.gif biggrin.gif

Currently eyeing the HTC Wildfire, Blackberry 9700 and 9300. Very into Wildfire. Do comment on this phone smile.gif

thanks, will check N8 out. but as you said, after i did some reading seems like Android UI is better

what i meant by user friendly interface was when my wife was using my old W902 to browse the internet, she complaint that it was not really easy to navigate. anyway, come to think of it maybe it was due to the small screen issue la
