First thing is, you need to do a bit of homework on your own...go to the shops check out the stuff, surf the net for the latest models, features etc....this is big money you need to fork out.

I'm not sure why you are referring to Philips 'Plasma' TV...afaik, in Malaysia current market..there is no plasma from Philips..but i might be wrong too...
And I've got personal issues with Philips brand that are not so reliable now. Thats just my experience.

As for the panels....I'm using Panny Plasma for many years and so used to the colors...Sammy's LEDs looks great for me now....
I would go for a Sammy LED instead of Panny Plasma given another choice again...again...its all abt personal preference.

Go for LED. Energy saving, light, less heat, no worried of burn in, spectacular PQ.

The most important use your eyes to judge which best suite you.

For me, I sure go for LED, plasma never in my list. (This is personal preference)

There are die hard Plasma lover and die hard LED lover. So best go and check them out yourself. And one more thing, LCD is inferior to both.

LCD is inferior to both?....i thought LED TV IS LCD.....the only difference is that LED TV uses LED as the backlight instead of fluorescent lighting.....

Anyway, its all down to personal preference.....LED TV has a better contrast compares to the old LCD tv where else the plasama has a more fluid picture....to me the LED TV looks very digital ...its very sharp but at the same time very cartoon like picture....

LED is a generic term for LED lighted LCD but we all know that.

I seen Samsung LED a couple of time and yes, I find them far too sharp to be natural. I tried looking at a person in front of me and look at his face outline. And I realize real life person's face can not look as sharp as what the LED is showing so I too came to the conclusion LED is not natural.

Of course different people like different thing. Some people like lady with heavy make up aka vivid but less natural color. But I like 18 years old ladies with the natural look and no make up so I picked Plasma and Panasonic.

Towards the mid of year 2009 when these LED backlit LCD's were launched then it captured me with the good PQ quality and a very nice design etc etc. Albeit the price was a bit on the high side if you compare it now but back then it is still considered cheap. Have you fellas ever bought SD units of Plasma for the selling prices then at more than 15k for a 42". Now you all are really blessed that prices are very cheap now.

Then the Plasma that I had then which did served me well was relegated and very seldom used. My LCD's are also put to use but only for the right reasons.

Needless to say all these tech toys have different characteristics and their pro and cons but IMO my next purchase would still be a LED prefereably with fully dimming capabilities. Sometimes when you have too many of the same things you will get bored.

It doesn't really matter how many comparisons there are out there. What is most important is to have your own view and select what you like and not what other people like. Learn to make your own decisions.

If I not mistaken, when LED backlit LCD's were launched, 42' Plasma price should not more than 7K for FullHD (For Panasonic, the most expensive one in Malaysia should be G series, if not mistaken). 15K for 42' is long time ago.

Yes it was a long time ago. I have used more than 6 or 7 displays back then. No way to rmbr all the prices but all the way fr SD to now Full HD.
Prices have dropped considerably. Even projectors were hell of an expensive then. An Infocus 777 cost about 25k for 480p only IIRC. I seldom look at the past cos what is gone is gone. For the future this is good. Everything is much more affordable now.

Not really. There is no such thing as outdated tech. This is a misconception but consumer demands will swing left and right. All these tech have been around for umpteen years just that some are commercially viable and some are less. Profit margins are different and manus always look at the bottom line for survival. Some still have lots of areas for improvement while some are a bit less.

Petrol cars are outdated technology. Hybrid cars save money. You still driving petrol cars? Ditto Plasma vs LED.

A product will outdated once it no longer in production.

Plasma still in production, so can't said it outdated, but the production is slowest and lessor now.

Believe soon it will get eliminated from market.

LED will be outdated one day. To be replaced by hologram or something more fancy.

But last I read, with 3D HDTV, Plasma seems to have a upper hand. So much for outdated technology. LOL

HaHa! I never said LED forever. Current LED might be not last longer also, as it is just backlight not a pure LED TV.

Current 3D TV is just a transition product.... it won't last long or famous, same faith like old 3D tech. Why? because it needs glass.

New 3D TV is under development which is glassless.... only glassless will be successful.

3D TV more success in Plasma, I also agree! I seen it more fluid! as Plasma still much more better motion than LED.

But I still hate Plasma, maybe Plasma step my back tongue.gif

It doesn't matter which one will outdate first. Technology keeps on progressing day by day. Everything also will outdate sooner or later.

Most important is to learn how to make more money and get to enjoy whatever is available now. We do not live a thousand years. Nobody knows what tmrw will bring.

How this is very strong words by a long established & respected AV magazine on a top of the line LED.

"You’re after the best possible picture, as plasma still rules the picture quality roost, and Samsung’s plasma sets are excellent performers"

http://www.avguide.com/review/samsung-un46...00?src=Playback

While there many things great about LED, generally speaking, it's very difficult to beat Plasma for picture quality. So much for your looking down on outdated technology. So you buying TV for picture quality or because they say it has sexy technology?
