Yeah.. I've been having fun with UWA lately. I feel like buying tokina 11-16 2.8 however since it doesn't AF with my body, what is your suggestion? should I upgrade body 1st then go for 11-16 or go for 12-24 f 4 instead? pretty confusing. you have a good eye, I think in term of sharpness they both good. so any suggestion bro?

12-24 and 14-24 there is weakness. Can't put filter.
I don't wanna get 14-24 because bulky and I don't need constant aperture / big aperture for landscape !

12-24 f4 sharp on f4. What think you ?
11-16 sharp but no details but 12-24 sharp with details.

i think u should upgrade ur body...
not only u can use this lens but other lens that did not hv motor...
just think about the cost...
u can spend the money for other stuff...

I of course will recommend FX lens but he didn't ask for that. Why bother ? You should read from beginning instead of jumping in half way and taking that as a conclusion

Send together with you VRII for calibration ? AFAIK, it won't be. Tested the 35/1.4 and 85/1.4 before on my D90, it works accurately.

I would said 1224 is more worthy! even nikkor lose to it by miles...

1116 i will buy if i were you

go try it by your self...

not forget to try out sigma 1020 !

I'd say investing more on lens than body. lens rarely depreciate where body's price will depreciate as time goes

Nope, as he said he dun wan burn his bank account. In this case 1224 may come worthy. From my point of view, if 35mm able to satisfied you, with that kind of price i doubt the IQ you will ever make you regret it.

But if you look for more 1116 is your choice.

As for me, nikkor 1224 looks more complex than 1116. Just my 2 cents.

What kind of distortion? You mean the left and right sides of the picture when shot at 10mm? I believe all wide angles have this wide angle distortion. Limitation of the 35mm (or rather the smaller DX) frame.

Having said that, yes, Nikkors are always better but the question that remains is how much better are they compared to the rest...
What did you don't like about the Sigma?
How did you compile this list? Did somebody make a comparison test for all of them above?
Shooting landscapes is usually focused near infinity. Else, use hyperfocal technique and set aperture f8 to f11 and you should get everything spot on.

personally, and again, i kinda like distortion and i also think that the G lenses looks better than the D ones so its a win win situation. u got a nice looking lens and also motor in the lens

if u wanna upgrade ur body to d7k for a UWA i rather suggest you go for nikkor 1224 with your D3100.

u said u dun wan burn a hole in ur bank yet u comparing a 1224 with 1116 with a new body. what kind of comparison is that. only god know what you mean. did u ever rmb what you wrote? thats why i dun think ur budget is limited.

for me, i will not recommended u upgrade from d3100 to d7000 because of the lens restriction for af somemore seems like u able to afford nikkor lens.

tats why i suggest u nikkor FTW.
