They have tagging on username the biz package use username@biz the home vip use username@unifi <-- not sure this is correct or not . The capped will be enforced this June / July

Too bad they never confirm if the cap will be revised or gonna use traffic management though i do prefer the latter if done properly.I hope if it is the former maybe seperate peak and nonpeak hours.Isn't that fairer to everyone?

Maybe even just cap international and not local.

In actual fact, not imposing dl cap is the backdated/zaman tok kaduk idea. All developed countries, ie. US, UK, Australia, Singapore all have caps on their connections. This is to ensure that the bandwidth is fairly distributed to the customers based on how much they pay for the service. Otherwise you will have a small minority hogging the majority of the bandwidth.

Of course, in Malaysia we do pay alot more compared to overseas, but thats an argument for another time.

Not true, all the developed countries are moving away from caps(except US and Canada)and maybe only got traffic management.Read my post a few page back for the article at stopthecap.com.

Even this http://stopthecap.com/2011/03/16/south-afr...y-party-ruined/

So you telling me we are worst off than south africa?

Need more download speed. Seems like VIP20 still not fast enough for me huhuhu.

You download a lot of ahem stuff?hehe laugh.gif

Using 5mbps now also quite enough for me(at the moment).Maybe i'm just not as heavy a user as you nod.gif

Of course if tm could give more with lower price and no cap(or a bit of traffic management)then it would be perfect....

I'd like more in terms of constant speed and low latency throughout the day...

QUOTE
Not necessary because of downloading a lot of things...

More towards instant speed for everything... especially for live streaming and low latency gaming experience...

Who doesn't want all that with no cap....

Is this part of the capping facilities they are rumored to be going implementing this coming June/July?

I sure hope not...anyone can confirm this?
It does seem some users are experiencing slow down so maybe the maintenance can fix it?

Capping is just matter of time
because if not consider the purchasing power
malaysia's broadband seem quite cheap for a no cap package.

If south africa(and many other developing countries) can afford no cap and affordable internet then why can't we?I think the users here have debated many times that malaysian broadband is still among the most expensive in the world(not i say, research said).Definitely there's some truth to it.

im gonna be unified this coming thursday.

so heard can replace dlink router with tplink wr841n?

how much is it?

can get at lowyat plaza?

Yea it should be available at lowyat(i got it at digital IT mall PJ).The router should be around rm89 and i recommend you got get it then go to klseet's website to get the beta firmware, flash the router and you're good to go.Make sure you get the unifi password from the installer and reserve some cash to pay for 'other' installation fees(so much for free installation sad.gif ).

This is for LANDED PROPERTY.If you are using vdsl then you might have use other methods cuz they might be problems with vdsl.

If u have been charged other installation fees, kindly let us know what, why and how much...

As far as i know (ftth), from the greenbox to fibre termination box (ftb) should be free... from ftb to btu there is a limit in terms of length, and contractor should advised what is the limit and recommend a suitable location to put the devices...

in my case, i have two options, either upstairs or downstairs where the tv is located... upstairs the distance is shorter and no bending the fibre around the house... downstairs the fibre have to bend around the house... i chose upstairs...

other installation fees?
u pay directly to the contractor izzit?
yeah. heard that contractor ask extra money for normal installation which are not suppose to happened at 1st place. wink.gif
so how much u pay? and for what?

and yeah. its landed property. ftth.
Climbing the ceiling cost rm100 and wiring cost rm300.It might be a con job from my assigned contractor but who knows. What's done is done and not going to think about it.

Anyhow before installation just negotiate with the installer the pricing first before installing. At least this way there's no arguement later on.They do tell me something about changing wifi password need to wait 2 months if not cannot use crap.Just change to damn default router to tp link(or you might wanna go the mikrotik way) and you are homefree(and stress free too). nod.gif

hmm... climbing the ceiling? I thought for high rise, unifi uses existing building's copper wire (hence the use of vdsl2)...each unit should have phone socket right?

perhaps i should raise this issue to the appropriate personnel...

That's for landed property ceiling.

TP-Link TL-WR841N owners..may i know how u guys setup the router?..i already tried klseet's method on the first page to setup the router..but my router can't connect to the internet.....i followed all the steps on the website except for the the firmware upgrade as my firmware version is already 3.12.5 Build 100929 Rel.57776n out of the box

You still have to use the beta firmware to flash your router even though the firmware version is the same.Go and try it.

wat does xtra here mean?
do they have standard length tats considered free?
if any case, if xtra length is indeed required, how much is the rate we are talking about here, per meter?
and we sort of need to pay no matter wat right, since they r the only one doing it...?
The only thing i i can tell you is that just negotiate the price before installing and keep like maybe rm500 on hand. Most probably need to pay for something IMHO. smile.gif

i really noob in this.. u mean TPlink router is not compatible with VDSL modem? pretty confusing here.
TM Dlink is a router right ? The VDSL modem is the one which connected on the phone is it?
So far i think for vdsl tp link router with beta firmware cannot use yet(visit klseet's website).Maybe if tp link can release new firmware for unifi then it might work.

One other way is to get a mikrotik and any router modem of your choice for it to work or do bridging with your DIR-615.
