1. slick passing and movement

2. an individual brilliance/skill in defensive or offensive . eg timely runs , hard to beat defender , great dribbler

when i said crunching tackles i mean the English style of tackle: where the defender (or any player) tackled the player, the tacklee went flying and (the english)ref don't give a damn since it's clean(to ball instead of someone's shin).i feel them even being just a spectator

Keane,Viera and Mascherano is a good example

attractive football for me is when the team has high teamwork, pace with the ball, score some beautiful goals and some individual brilliance.

for me,some of brilliant football team i watched are:
1)arsenal the invincibles.that's what made me fall in love with this team.
2)mourinho's first season in charge of chelsea.joe cole, gudjohnsen, damien duff.whenever you see them do counter attack, you can expect goal.
3)barcelona en route to paris 2006.ronaldinho's brilliance against juve and chelsea.
4)mark hughes's man city with bellamy-tevez-ade.see them tore arsenal apart at eastland.heartbreaking it is,but they played brilliantly.
5)liverpool 2008/2009.the season when gerrard and torres become the most dangerous pair in epl.
6)spain the euro champ.they played better than the world champion team imo.

and yes.crunching tackles are not beautiful.football is not rugby.

this

and u should add the Netherlands team of Euro 2008 under Marco Van Basten who trash both Italy & France with 3-0 & 4-1 respectively.

*btw in 2006 its shud be Barca vs Milan, not Juve...where Ronnie score after great pass from Giuly IINM

possession football can be fun ... at times, it can be boring as hell ...

back then, watching mourinho's chelsea was like watching paint dry ... what's attractive about passing the ball around between the defenders and midfielders ... when chelsea went behind and needs to attack, it suddenly became a much more exciting game, probably coz robben and cole were bloody speed demons ...

for me, possession football is only fun when the ball is in the final third ...

it was boring as hell when watching Spain during the world cup.
for me, i go for counter attack...split second and the ball either in the 3rd half or at the back of the net.
not sure whether crunching tackle is consider a beauty. Not to me...

i define attractive football as:-

1. high tempo, with urgency to score
2. more through balls, less direct pass
3. trickeries like one-twos, back heel, nutmeg
4. flair players running and dribbling with pace

and its not about the numbers of goals, a 1-0 game can be more attractive than a 3-3 scoreline.

what keep me attractive to watch football these days is 'POTENTIAL'... i like to see players or team beat expectations or limitations... i like to see the unproven try to prove themselves... Berbatov probaply the league top scorer.. Rooney can gleefully score an overhead kick goal... but the player i like to see the most is how Chicharito will win his place over them...

i like it when Peter Crouch scores... i like it when Inter defend to the death against Barca...

finished product are booooring for me... tooo perfect... i like to see raw things and fantasize how it could be better.. and see will he or will he not meet them...

I'm the opposite actually. With reference to the World Cup, I enjoyed watching Spain and Germany play. Can't fault Spain for keeping possession because they are just so good at it. Spain can pass the opposition to death and it is near impossible getting the ball of them. The quickness and crispness of their passing as well as the movement off the ball is what I like. Not surprising that they were the bookies favourites to win the World Cup especially after how they mauled everyone in the friendlies prior. I remember how the went to France and hit 4 goals past them. It has been awhile since Germany relied so much on young players and I think it began back when Klinsmann was in charge during the World Cup before.

Having said that I do also like counter attacking teams because the game is played at a higher tempo.

I think that in summary, I like watching teams that play positive football and who aren't afraid to take risks at the back by committing men forward.

about dribbling,i really not fond to samba-style of dribling(like one see in ronaldinho,CR7,robinho and the like)

i like seeing player(usually winger) dribble, but just look at how Giggs,Adam Johnson and samir nasri.they do dribble but not these samba.it's like they do that to attract attention instead of fooling the defender

what i consider as the most attractive footie is fast paced end to end of pitch action plus some decent shots on goal ... some great goals sprinkled in makes it a match to remember ...

You can't really fault Spain at the WC simply because there wasn't a team that really had a go at them. Sure they were probably over cautious and would have been more entertaining if they had been abit more direct like in Euro 08 but at the end of the day both teams are responsible for the spectacle on the pitch.

Germany were fun to watch when they had space to exploit behind defences but against Ghana for example where they didn't have that luxury they only struggled to a 1-0 win.

The best football matches are those where both teams have a go at each other and commit players to attack. It gives more space for attacking players to exploit and games like that tend to be end to end stuff.

Possession football isn't boring. It's tempo that makes a game boring not style. As long as the tempo is high enough possession football can be very attractive to watch. Besides the best football teams throughout history are the ones that kept possession well.

True, but Spain tend to keep the ball too long. That's why it was boring for me.

agreed.when u pass the ball around but the tempo is high and opponents just can't steal the ball from you, that's when the game become entertaining.but you pass the ball around in your own area without entering the opposition area,it become boring as hell.

German football recently shows the attractiveness side of it with fast counter attacking football. They have power all round. What England and Argentina cant cope with them.England on the other hand plays the most boring type of football with no end productivity. No creation and no nothing.

wait till encik Redknapp takes over them charge in the helm!

Imo:

Attractive football: one twos n 1 on 1 with the gk
Don't like long shots though cz the percentage to be on target is minimal

Haha Harry "just fucking run around a bit" Redknapp.

Then again, maybe giving vague instructions to the less tactically aware English team might be the answer.

Possession football can only be good to watch if the other team applies pressure, because then the fluid passing triangles that form from player movements are a lot more enjoyable and the passing requires more technique.

In any case, whether you play a passing game or a more direct game, if you do it well you would inevitably dominate possession. Chelsea can end up with the majority of possession despite being direct if they are against mid-table teams. Possession football looks to use possession as a defensive tool as well as to spring an attack suddenly.

Agree with the post above, long shots can be boring. Sure, they require skill to pull off, but when you see a player score a belter when 99 of his previous shots are far wide, you can't help but feel that luck played a much larger role than brains and technique.
