(Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia - March 1, 2011) MSI Malaysia is glad to announce that shipments of the MSI 6 series mainboards equipped with the new Intel B3 stepping chipsets are estimated to arrive at various local distributor venues on 3rd March, 2011. The mainboards are scheduled for retail in the following week. The affected mainboards are listed below.

MSI Mainboards
Intel P67: P67A-GD65, P67A-GD55, P67A-GD53, P67A-C45, P67A-C43.
Intel H67: H67MA-ED55, H67MA-E45, H67MA-E35.

MSI Notebook
Intel HM67: GT680R

Replacement Solution
Announcements to kick-start the Sandy Bridge Replacement Program will be made upon receipt of the shipments.

Additionally, MSI Malaysia regrets to inform that there has been a delay in the shipping of the MSI SATA2 Addon Card. To address the consequences of this delay, affected users are given the option to swap the mainboard in the interim pending delivery of the MSI SATA3 Addon Card to their preferred addresses via Poslaju. The other option available would be to wait for the restocking of the MSI SATA3 Addon Card anticipated to be completed by 31 March 2011. Those who prefer this option will have the opportunity to make a mainboard exchange and receive the MSI SATA3 Addon Card on the same day.

The MSI Malaysia Representative Office shall be the designated replacement center for all affected users in the Kuala Lumpur/Selangor area. Affected users from outside the area are required to contact their respective dealers for replacements. To qualify for a replacement, kindly provide MSI Malaysia with the faulty mainboard (with the valid Serial Number sticker still intact) and Proof of Purchase.

Hotline Information
For any questions related to Intel 6 chipset issues, compatible SATA ports for your mainboard, return enquires, or other support issues, kindly call the MSI Malaysia Hotline at 1300 22 1986. Our customer service will be happy to answer any question you have, and to provide all necessary support. Your satisfaction is important to us.

MSI Malaysia Representative Office Address
Suite B-5-1, Plaza Pantai,
No. 5 Persiaran Pantai Baru,
Off Jalan Pantai Baru,

and you expect all board manufacturer sent their representative to enter all forum around the world to give some info? your expectation is too high. if you think that reps through forum is so important, then buy their products.

i myself really satisfied with their announcement through their website and when i make a phone call to their local office, they can answer my doubt accordingly. so i wait until middle of this year. don't worry, we still have 2 years and the half before the sata 2.0 start to degrade. meantime, no need to rush.

Some company choose to go the 'extra' distance in the pursuit of customer satisfaction and surpass the customer expectation. Shouldn't these companies be rewarded with customer loyalty rather than those that's makes us go through hoops & jumps? hmm.gif

Yes TS ur topic title is confusing, supposed to be P67/H67 mobo.
Sandy Bridge is code name for proccesor which is problem free.

Dear DarkMist,
Thanks for the support. It's a PCIE 1X card. Customer outside of KL will have to contact the respective dealers where the product was bought.

Dear dlwl,
Once the new B3 stepping came in, it's ready to be swapped.
And you get a free 2 ports SATA 6 Gbps card during the swap process.

Dear owikh84,
One of our notebook affected also, and notebook user might not be sensitive on the chipset used. And local retailers often 'sell' out notebook by their code name.

So should one assume that the process will be quicker if we go to the rep's office at Plaza Pantai? or is it just the same as dealing with the local retailers.

Is there anyway to open a support ticket(I already registered the product at MSI's website) just so we can book our replacement units beforehand. smile.gif

Dear Zakov,
Once the new B3 stepping motherboard is available, we will announce in this thread, and users can drop us a call 1300-22-1986 to reserve their replacement set and also to get their SATA 6Gbps card.
It would be faster if you are able to drop by our office for the replacement process.
Hopefully this could be able to clear up some of the question.
Thank you.

Please stay tuned in this thread.

The competition are available for those who bought B2/ B3 MSI Sandybridge motherboards.
Please consider to buy 1st as you get a SATA 6Gbps card ma.

Is there a way to identify the board is b3 stepping or b1/b2 stepping...??

Dear yinchet,
Sorry to missed out your question.
To identify B3 chipset motherboards, MSI will be renaming all the new SandyBridge motherboards with (B3) attached to the original models. Please refer to the example below:
user posted image
Sticker on the motherboard to show new B3 stepping motherboard.

user posted image
The product code sticker on the box will show (B3) at the end.

user posted image
at the front of the motherboard where the product name is will shown (B3) as well.

user posted image
The serial number sticker at the back of the motherboard will show (B3) as well.

user posted image
Or you can download our MSI 6 Series Sata Scan Program to check whether if it's the B3 stepping you got.

More information can be found here:SandyBridge Chipset (B2/B3) Identification of MSI’s 6 Series Mainboards

Thank you.

I think the Bravo competition will be open for those who swap or buy the new B3 motherboard because from MSI statement

"End users in India/Indonesia/Malaysia/Philippines/Singapore/Thailand/Vietnam who buy/swap MSI P67/H67/H61 (B3) Mainboard will get chance to take big prize home! Register it now!"

Hopefully we can buy them by early next week. Any chance I can find them in Penang? hint? biggrin.gif

Dear Maxram,
I checked through the T&C, and customer who bought B2/B3 also entitle for the MSI SandyBridge Bravo Luck Draw Contest. But for the SATA 3.0 card only entitled for those who bought B2 and going to swap for B3 motherboards only.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Do I need to register at the website first before I'm eligible to enter the contest? What I want is to exchange the motherboard at resellers and at the same time participate in the contest as well. What do I have to do to get that?

Dear archonixm,
In order to participate in the contest, end user need to register the product at MSI Sandybridge Bravo Contest. Where else the swapping part can be done at the reseller point, but may I know the mobo is purchased from which dealer? As if your location is in Klang Valley, we would recommend to do the swapping at MSI office. Where else, we could arrange the swapping to be done at reseller point.
Please let us know the final decision as we will guide you throughout the swapping process.
Thank you.

Dear archonixm,
Yah, that is our office address. Swapping is done in our office. Yes, please call us at 1300-22-1986 for more information and there might be some slight delay on the SATA card. ETA of the SATA card would be in beginning April. I would recommend that both swapping and redeeming SATA card to be done at once. Please drop us a call when we announce the ready stock of new 'B3' in this thread.

Dear all,

We are glad to announce that our distributors have received the shipment of new Sandy Bridge B3 motherboard. The early shipment is due to a favor from Intel by allocating some B3 chipset to us earlier that predicted. Thus as per the initial plan for the shipment to reach our shore on April 2011, the SATA card shipment couldn't make it to Malaysia. This is due to pre-allocation of the SATA card couldn't be allocated to the Multimedia Production Line.

Therefore, MSI customer who is anticipating for our MSI Malaysia Sandy Bridge Swapping Program, we regret to announce that there is a glitch on the SATA card redemption process. Therefore we provide the 3 options as below:
1) Swap new B3 motherboard first and we will courier out the SATA card by PosLaju to end user once we get hold of the stock of SATA Card.
2) Swap new B3 motherboard first. Then drop by to MSI Malaysia Office once again to collect the SATA Card upon stock arrival.
3) Swap new B3 motherboard and the SATA Card together in April 2011 once we get hold of the stock of SATA Card.

However for all the options above, please do take note that end user are required to call MSI Malaysia at 1300-22-1986 two working days before dropping by to our office to ease the allocation process.

Lastly, we would like to apologise to all MSI Sandy Bridge users for the inconvenience caused due to the early shipment of the new B3 mainboard.

Thank you.

MSI_MY, I asked lingloong(a retailer for MSI boards here) about the replacement procedure and he told me that the distributors require the defective board to reach them first to swap, then turn-over 1 week because need to check everything is ok then could swap.

If this is the case, does it mean we'll have to wait a week to get the replacement board? sad.gif

Dear Zakov,
If you are around Klang Valley, I would advise you would be able to drop by our office. Feel free to drop us a call 1st.
But for the time being, the SATA 6Gbps card is not here yet. ETA should be around April. You can opt to wait for it until the SATA card is here then only proceed for the swap.

IMO 1 week is reasonable if not these sellers have to go to MSI HQ everyday for swapping which is quite tiring for them. I think distro should provide a pickup truck at some hotspots for collection daily etc.. Pity those sellers.

The way I see it, we're not returning the boards like a typical RMA process so it should be a straight swap.

We're sending it in because of the design flaw not because of an after sales problem(lightning, user fault) so this case should be treated similar to a DOA case in my opinion.

The way I see it, we're not returning the boards like a typical RMA process so it should be a straight swap.

We're sending it in because of the design flaw not because of an after sales problem(lightning, user fault) so this case should be treated similar to a DOA case in my opinion.

Of course its not anyone's fault but Intel's.

The PC is just for casual use (internet 99.9% most of the time) and non gaming, so just get the H67-E45 one(confirmed got B3 stepping sticker). Price, as listed by their website which is RM389. didn't check for P67 chipset one.

Buying below item for my setup (others like DVD drive just take a used one)
- Casing CM Elite 371 (apparently it is with side transparent), I was going for without ST after check in website and the pricelist. Anyway, can live with it
- CPU iCore5 2400
- Mobo MSI H67-E45(buy new - so no free Sata, which is for exchange)
- WD 1T Cavier Blue (Sata3)
- 2 X 4G RAM
- CM TX3
- PSU 460w

No graphic card, so far happy with the integrated one in CPU. nod.gif

Got it from Perai branch, available since Tuesday, I also see other brand.

Dear mcchin,
Maybe you could drop them to reserve GD65, which is more value for money as more features like additional 2 SATA 6Gbps ports, dual bios, rear USB 3.0 bracket (total of 4 USB 3.0 ports inclusive of 2 more from the backpanel), E-SATA and V-Check Points. Or you could drop me a PM on your contact, as we will arrange it for you to have it purchased from PC Depot.
Thank you.

it should not be a problem for me to drop by there to arrange it
but I tends to see all the data (in this case, the pricing) and just go for it
with minimal negotiation.
the way i see it, is once the price is acceptable for me
there seems to be little initiative for me to nego futher (water fish alert!!!...:lol)

MSI-MY, if I were to call the MSI hotline and book my unit earlier can I pick it up once the SATA Cards are available in April?

Its more convenient for me to get both at the same time.

And about the Bravo competition thing, will the winners be notified through email or do we have to check regularly at the event's site?

thanks. smile.gif

Dear Zakov,
Yes, you may do so. Would advise others to do so, so as soon as we get the SATA card we are able to contact users.
For the Bravo Contest, lucky winners will get notified by email and also listed out on the website.

technically IF MSI do sell the same product
they are not gonna sell at lower or even equal to the reseller if they value the reseller

if any manufacturer do undercuts their own reseller/distributor
either prepare for DEADLY repercursion
or build their own distribution department to deal with local region supply, which is not very cost effective

The reason we need to do the arrangement is that we need to get your mainboard ready. We wouldn't want you to come here but go back empty handed. If you really couldn't come to MSI Office due to the Office Hour issue, you can opt for us to courier it to you. Cheers.

Dear menexpert,
No worries, all MSI Series 6 mainboards on the shelves are now B3 stepping which solve the SATA issue. The box has a B3 sticker on it and the product code has end with a (B3) code. So if you want to purchase, just make sure it has a B3 logo on the box, then it's safe. The shipment arrived earlier that the expected date, which was supposed to be April.

MSI-MY,

I got a MSI mobo (MSI-P67-C45) also and want to exchange for B3 revision. My questions are :

a.) Where is your office and operating hours ?
b.) It is possible to exchange for better mobo by way of top up ?
c.) How long it take for exchange ? Can I get it from your office the same day I go there ?

TQ

I will try to answer the 3rd question
- The exchange can be immediate IF you call them up to arrange your mobo. I dunno whats the turn around time to get it ready, but once they have the product, you can arrive there and get it exchange easily. The important point is to call them up 1st

Dear Left4Dead2,
1. The operating hour is Monday - Friday, 9AM - 6PM
2. To exchange to a better mobo, it depend on the dealer you purchase from. You can ask the dealer you purchase from and we may make the arrangement from there.
3. mcchin answered perfectly.

Dear mcchin,
Thank you very much. Cheers.

Well, with the SATA2 ports already fixed, I don't need the extra SATA3 ports. biggrin.gif
I'm only running a single Crucial SSD as my boot drive so better sell it off to someone who can make use of the extra bandwidth.

Yup, very happy about that.

And I also got to keep the accessories I already owned and get new ones on top of it.
The M-connector, SATA cables, etc. I've know I've already got twice the amount I had before but I honestly don't know what to do with the extras. :-)
Its a nice problem to have/ tongue.gif

Once again, a job well done MSI. smile.gif

Dear xpmen,
Ok, so SLI/CF feature is needed. But if you ask me, i always prefer Single Card solution. There's two way to play with it. Either you buy a same graphic card when you feel the time is suitable in garage sales (cheaper) as an "upgrade" or you sell your graphic card and upgrade to a better card yet to be launched/announced at the mean time. For me, i prefer sell then upgrade, partly due to the second hand value. If you keep a card too long, the value become lower. And i assume you are moving towards Sandy Bridge Platform? Since our P67A-C45 doesn't has SLI/CF feature, you can either choose P67A-GD55 or P67A-GD65. Their difference? Look at the picture below. The price is around your budget actually.

Dear MSI-MY and LYNs, Ive plan to purchase new mobo this saturday..aim for P67GD65. may I ask what is Gigabyte brand that is par on this mobo?
Blury on camparison. And this P67 need graphic card to be run? Plan on last item to purchase(GC).

Plan for i5 2500 setup. A member mention that certain mobo, even support various proc series, but each mobo have a 1 proc that really kamcheng smoothly, other so-so only.

e.g MXX series mobo is excell on i3 but so-so on i5 even can comply.

Any details explaination...as he is quite a pro and me...huhuhu. Then he suggest to look into Gigabyte as their extra is dual bios. now I'm having setup(my 2nd future pc)

Intel Dual Core E5200
Gigabyte G41-M combo S-series mobo (previous is MSI p31 neo2)
Leadtek GT 220 1G DDR3
Corsair 1333 4G
CM V6GT proc cooler(will transfer to i5 setup)

Sorry dude, but what your friend told you is just BS. A processor should work well with any motherboard that supports it. There's no such thing as a proc and mobo that is kamcheng.
Intel would never make their CPUs distinctly with preference according to brand.

However, it depends on what you're going for.
A mobo is only as good as the budget you have and what you're looking for.
Overclockability? SLI/Crossfire in the future? Warranty handling? Features and perks(SATA ports, eSATA, etc)

If you're on budget I recommend Asrock highly. I myself am using a MSI P67A-GD55 and it is solid for me, but you can save money by going with Asrock since they're a bit cheaper and won't perform any worse.

But if you insist on MSI(this is an MSI thread after all), you can go with the GD55 or GD65, there are only subtle differences(to me personally) like SATA ports, Voltage checkpoints and eSATA. It's basically the same board otherwise.

Dual-bios could be useful if you're always flashing yer BIOS and afraid of something going wrong. But boards of other brands have similar features.
Heck, even MSI has a DUAL-BIOS feature.
http://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=145084.0

I would also suggest you to go for a i5 2500K series for overclockability. The SBs are probably the easiest to overclock of all Intel processors.
Since you're going for a P67 instead of H67 I don't see any reason why you need to go with an i5 2500 CPU.

If its about budget, then you should cut back cost on the motherboard and go for the K version.

Oh, and a P67 does require a dedicated GPU but a H67 can make use of the Intel's graphics processing unit on the Sandy Bridge. The thing with H67 is that you won't be able to change the multiplier(for overclocking).

If you want the best of both worlds, you should wait for the Z68 which is coming out soon. smile.gif

Z68 will cost approximately $10 more than P67. smile.gif

Its not rocket science really, you just have to think of what you want to do with the setup.
Gaming? Video Editing? 3D Animation? etc, etc.

Games nowadays aren't that demanding with the exception of a few titles, you can run pretty much run almost every game on high settings with a mid-range graphics card. (Nvidia GTX 450++ / ATI HD 5770++)

If you don't plan to go with a multi-graphics(SLI or CFX) card setup you don't need to fork out all the money on the MSI P67A-GD65.
Just go with motherboard that only has a single slot PCIEx16(Graphics slot). Like the MSI P67A-C45 for example. You can cut back cost a lot there.

If you don't plan to OC then you could go with the normal i5 2500, but I personally recommend the K series because you'll be getting a lot
more out of your money, and the resale value will be higher compared to the non K versions.

Dear jimmylim85,

Dear bad melatonin,
Will check for you and update via this thread next week.
Thank you.

Edited:
Dear melatonin,
Checked with our PM, that for the time being there isn't any plan to bring in this model as the pricing is very near to P67 models.
Thank you.

Dear bad melatonin,
Eventually, we will bring in the Z68MA-ED55 but in very limited quantity. If the response is good, then we will bring in in a larger quantity. Pricing is still yet to be decided and ETA should be around 1-2 weeks. Cheers.
